I’ve tried every high end and mid range eyeliner of every kind. This is the only black pencil eyeliner that doesn’t irritate my eyes. You do need to work with it with brushes or a finger to smudge and something to layer on top, but for that purpose it is unsurpassed.

The color is phenomenal for doing a smokey eye, but it smears like crazy. On one hand-the soft, bendable texture of this pencil lends itself to an easier smokey eye-you just line your water line and around the eye and smudge-then bam! Instant, sexy “smolder”ing smokey eye. Beautiful. The problem is the longevity and wear-it will not only smudge for a sexy haze around the eyes-it will transfer like none’s business and get under and around your eye. For a brief period, your eyes will look sultry and sexy-perfect for an evening out with a nude lipgloss or lipstick-but then you’ll walk around with panda eyes and not in that sexy, rocker chick-i just woke up out of bed look. No, you’ll look like a crazy person with black circles around your eyes. I love the look for all of five minutes. An hour later, I look like I did my makeup in the dark and just randomly grabbed a black crayon and smeared accordingly.

This is a terrible item, what a waste of money! Luckily I got it at a discount. It is so hard that you have to drag it across your eyelids and then you have to go over it several times. Maybe it was old stock, I don’t know. However, it is just awful. How can this company charge so much for cosmetics that are as bad as this?! It stayed long enough because I have learnt to use an eye primer or general purpose primer but I doubt it would’ve stayed if I hadn’t. Hurt my eyes too with having to drag it across. I have the wind up crayon version and that is way better though the crayon “lead” tends to break 🙁 I would not recommend this to anyone. In fact, I have found a very cheap kajal/kohl pencil that is way better and gentler.

I usually wear liquid liner on top and do wings. Been my standard look for years, decided to try something new, my friend had one still in the box and she gave it to me as a gift. I tight lined and lined the upper lash line, I used an eye primer and applied eye shadow. 45 min later I look like a panda! Terrible! And its MAC! I ended up washing my whole face, redid my makeup and used my milani liquid eye gel eyeliner. Never moved. Never smudged, and it’s a $7 pencil. Much better than this $18 one.

I decided to buy this after seeing an amazing smoky eye tutorial by a really cool drag queen who swore by it.
So my stupid self went and bought it without really swatching it and not paying attentions to the negative reviews he saw. So here’s my honest opinion and experience:
First, IT. GETS. EVERYWHERE. I have fairly oily lids and I don’t prime or anything, but it doesn’t stay even for a good hour and you’re a really skilled individual if you tightline or do anything with this liner without ending up looking like a panda.
Second, it STAINS like crazy, I always look like I’ve been fighting a dementor, my eyes looking all hollow because of the greenish hue.
Lastly, it’s an ordeal to get a sharp tip, what seems to be a MAC staple.
If you want the perfect eyeliner pencil, look elsewhere.

Ok, so this is one of the blackest, super glossy, creamy eyeliner, but hey this smudges like crazy and defeats the whole purpose. As much as I wanted to like this, it doesn’t work. If I apply on my water line it transfers and the staying power is bad.
I have use this with prior primer application but still doesn’t work. Its such a shame because this is truly one of the darkest blacks in the marker 🙁 Will keep searching for the perfect black eyeliner.

This is such a versatile liner! First off it’s extremely inky black which i <3 I don't see any nuances of green or blue or any other colors. Just matte black. I wear this w MAC Fluidline BlackTrack. What I do is line my eyes w the BlackTrack 1st allow to dry then fill in any gaps w Smolder & tight line w it. I don't normally wear waterline/bottom lashline daily (I've got glasses), so I've not tried water lining but for tight line this is gr8 (normally I don't line lower lid coz of my extreme oily skin I'm guaranteed pandas ALL products), this actually stays in place & I do it on powder products only no creme products bare lids it stays on best thou! I kno many ppl R sayin it smudges mine stays in place not complaining & the other way to use this is to smoke-smudge it out (smallest concealer brush or qtips), also somexs I add MAC Carbon e/s over it w an ELF bent angle brush). It doesn't irritate my sensitive eyes. I don't normally buy expensive kohls when I kno NYC/wnw do same thing for $1 but I think this is a lot better for tight line coz it's so soft. It doesn't claim to be H2OProof nor long lasting.

This was a big disappointment. It does not stay in the waterline at all, it transfers like crazy! 5 hours in and all product is gone from my actual eye, now situated under my eye! As for the packaging, its standard mac, but it’s a pain to sharpen.
I wouldn’t repurchase, both for the price and the quality. I feel like the highstreet has many eyeliners that are cheaper and match the quality or are even better.

I am very picky when it comes to black eyeliners and after reading all the positive reviews I’ve decided to buy it…I can’t say I’m disappointed but not satisfied either…nice creamy texture but it smudges quite a lot

Very black and glossy eyeliner. Staying power is good on me – colour stays true all day without fading. I only use it on my upper lashline, and if l sleep in it l wake with it underneath my lower lashes. Much better than my previous Lancôme in terms of staying power and depth of colour. It’s smudgable on purpose. The lid is poor and cracked soon after purchase. Sharpening is an issue as it’s so soft. I’ve had best results with refridgerating the pencil beforehand and using a Chanel sharpener – before that l wasted 1/4 of the product. I get the odd ‘blob’ of product too which then gets smeared around my eyes as l attempt to remove it. It sometimes flakes onto my under-eye area like a mascara would do. I prefer retractable pencils.
