This has been reformulated from the previous version and now has a better wand and better formula. It’s now called the 18hr Superlast Waterproof Eyeliner. This gives me control to do a perfect winged liner every time. The wand is PERFECT. It’s my HG eyeliner. I usually hate waterproof formulas but this one comes off (with makeup remover) better than the original version and doesn’t smudge, it also doesn’t flake off. I keep repurchasing because it’s only $5 CAD and it lasts a VERY long time. The last one I had lasted me over 8 months and performed well even until I threw it out – mostly because I realized it was getting really old. A great value.

A wonderful, long-lasting product with a terrible applicator. I really wish this had a brush tip! I’ve been using an old Urban Decay lid/brush to apply this eyeliner because the felt tip is so nubby and bulky! The staying power is the most comparable thing I’ve found since I’ve stopped using MAC’s Liquidlast, my unfortunately non-vegan/cf holy grail. It’s also a tiny fraction of the price!

For the price of this product it is last longing and effective. The brush on the eyeliner gives a smooth application and allows for a thin or thicker line. The colour is very black and stays all day with no need to top up. Easy to remove also with eye male up remover. Cheap and cheerful!

I’ve been using it through the years and i’ve sadly gone off it… After maybe 6hrs of wearing it cracks and fades in the inner corner and after 8-10hrs breaks into chunks and evenutally irritates my eyes.
If you’re a big ‘wing-liner girl’ like me, you’ll learn to hate it. But I would still buy this liner over any Maybelline/rimmel/loreal ones. I advise securing it with a gel liner for smoothness, intensity and staying power.

Long, but thorough review over months.
This eyeliner performs incredibly well, but is not perfect.
Waterproof? Not really. My standard for waterproof is very high as a swimmer, and my wing didn’t last through a heavy set of tears due to laughter. However it did survive a funeral with some mild eye wateriness unscathed.
Long lasting? Definitely. If left untouched, will last for hours. I wore this 10+ hours in the hot summer with it looking perfect at the end. Will not budge with light rubbing, but will flake off cleanly with heavy rubbing. People who scratch their eyes, not the best pick for you.
The finish is 90-95% matte. It will not look flat in direct sunlight, which I like. The color is not the blackest black on the planet, but it gets pretty dang close. Lighting, however, can make it appear pitch black to a very dark gunpowder grey.
Super affordable. I’m a cat-eye daily wearer, and the tip is gentle on the eyes, but slightly difficult to control. I have to put in slightly more effort using this product, as it can coat the lashes uncomfortably and occasionally skip with an improperly soaked brush. Layers nicely over itself. Ingredients are pretty benign for health for those who care. Weightless, but you can feel the dry texture if you happened to touch your eyelids. Good inky consistency that dries fairly quickly.
I’m being super critical, but it’s a fantastic product nonetheless. No smudging, smearing, or bleeding. I’d definitely buy again and even have a back up.

I was very surprised to find that this is as good as everyone is saying. This is a thick, really glossy black eyeliner that is simple to use. I have not always been a fan of the felt tip style eyeliner applicators because I find that they tend to drag and not create an even line. This is just beautiful to use and an absolute bargain at $4.50 (Australian). I haven’t tested whether or not it is actually waterproof, but i really don’t care because it is awesome as an everyday eyeliner.

I bought this product not knowing what to expect; I love Essence, but didn’t have luck with their eyeliners in the past. Luckily for me, this is the best eyeliner I’ve tried yet!
It is incredibly pigmented and glides on easily; it feels great on the skin and doesn’t bother my sensitive eyes! I’m not a fan of the applicator, as it alone doesn’t create a very precise line, but as someone who uses the Beauty Blender liner designer, I can overlook this.
It lasts absolutely all day without any cracking or smudging, which is an issue I’ve had with most eyeliners, whether or not they were waterproof.
As I’ve already purchased this product twice, I think it’s safe to say its a holy grail!

This is my HG eyeliner and probably the cheapest product I own! Simply wonderful and works works works! I can’t imagine using anything else. It lasts me the whole day and doesn’t transfer or smudge once it has set. I’ve often gone to bed with this product on (bad me lol) and the next day it still looks like I just put it on.
I often use a q-tip and smudge the product upon application to create a nice smoky eye look.
I’ve tried a lot of different eyeliners throughout the years and this one beats everything else.
The only thing I’m a bit sad about is that they’ve changed the packaging in my country (not sure if it is world wide) from the picture shown above. I’ve been struggling a little bit with the new packaging as the brush is a bit softer and thinner and would often get stuck just before pulling it out, causing some eyeliner to go flying all over the place. I really hope they change it back to the original packaging.

This is my absolute holy grail eyeliner. I already used up 6 tubes in the last 2,5 years and it never let me down.
It claims that it is waterproof, and oh boy is that true. It won’t budge, no matter how oily your eyelids are. It’s also smudgeproof.
It’s carbon black in pigmentation – it couldn’t be any darker! It is completely matte too.
It doesn’t dry out either.
The only thing I think people would dislike about this product is the applicator wand, it’s very thick, stiff and short, so people might have problems creating a thin crisp line. However once you get used to it it’s really easy to apply.
The applicator never bothered me.
I 100% encourage people to give this liquid eyeliner a try! You won’t lose anything, especially since it’s dirt cheap.

First off, for $3.49CDN (4ml), you really can’t beat the price!!!!
The first time i used this eyeliner, I HATED it. It flaked within minutes of application! I applied it on bare lids (no primer, eyeshadow etc) to test it out since I was anxious to try it, but didn’t want to do a complete eye look.
I decided to give it another go a few days later. This time with eye primer and eyeshadow. I LOVED IT. It lasted ALL night on me with NO flaking at all.
I don’t have oily lids but for some reason, the only way I can get this eyeliner to work for me is if i have eyeshadow underneath or some kinda powder for the liner to adhere to.
Pigmentation is great. Due to the sponge-y felt tip applicator, I find that it can skip across the lid. A 2nd coat is necessary to smooth out the lines and to sharpen the wing. Despite this extra step however, the applicator does retains a lot of product so I don’t need to keep re-dipping it back into the tube – totally awesome!! I do wipe the excess off the inside of the tube before applying as it’s a very liquid-y formula.
Another plus is that unlike your typical “waterproof” liner, this stuff is easy to take off. I don’t even need to use an oil based remover!!
Definitely will repurchase… In fact, I think I will stock up on this!
Note – I also have this eyeliner in the non waterproof version and I don’t really like it. The non waterproof version isn’t as pigmented, and applies streaky and uneven. Will re-purchase the waterproof version but not the non-waterproof.
