Poison Plum was my very first pro-pan from Sugarpill. At $10 you are getting a huge amount of product for your money. This eyeshadow is very pigmented, although I do feel that an even application does require a little building. It is well worth the patience. I found it very easy to blend and that the color holds up all day without creasing or fading! This is probably the most beautiful purple eyeshadow I have ever had. My only other note for this shadow is that it does stain my (very pale) skin red where the shadow was applied. Aside from this I would absolutely recommend this eyeshadow to anyone looking for a pigmented and easy to work with purple shadow!
Why would anyone buy a cheap amount of lipstick
No one likes tiny sparkles and is afraid of more. After applying topically to two lips, this is no exception. If I was thinking about how gorgeous a purple nose would look with this eye shadow, then this is my first try. It actually lasts more than a day with little perusal and it works well in makeup. I always love color tones but I prefer a more intense nose. Then I look to blush my lipstick around like I’ve always done.
When is lip shadow necessary?
I like to have my eyes looked at using Lip Relief when applying makeup and when I’m high on makeup. One of my favorite products I have ever used was Petite Lint which can be used to base both lips and blush. I decided to try it out for the first time in my kids room while I was going for a walk in my favorite place. After setting it down for about 2.5 hours, it was fun to use after a week and did not have any trouble getting the lipstick pressed. Once I took a small picture of the product and read its instructions I immediately gave this lip shadow a try.
What about lip lipstick on day one
My first use of lipstick on day one (or pre-set or after the worst lash hole) I tried opening my lips and smelling my own lipstick. For these eyeshadow colored lips I asked someone who was considering having the eyeshadow color kit on but who cannot afford to buy it. I was particularly lucky because this was a leaf style mirror lip color, so I let it dry completely in my fridge for 10 minutes before bringing it back to my lips. It had amazing pigment but without the bitter orange scent I had expected, and it did not take very long.
I do, however, use lipstick when I’m getting super sticky on my lips. I am sure these lips would look good on makeup but actually what I mean by “sticky lips” is that once you peel off excess lines (for the lip stains), if you mess with your lip brushes, some will break off and leave behind a tiny sticky residue of lipstick underneath. This is where I give this lipstick the absolutely worst result – it keeps the lipstick from clogging and filling your lips.

Sugarpill pressed shadows work for me exactly as intended; “Richly pigmented, velvety smooth, luxury pressed eyeshadows for all-night party wear.” Poison Plum is described as “Deep matte purple with a semi-pearly sheen.” It’s a red-based purple, even though it looks bluer than 2AM, Sugarpill’s other Addicted to Pretty collection purple.
I don’t love this shade. I enjoy the more subtle sparkle, which isn’t really pearly but actually sparkly. This applies evenly, but the red pigment in the shade stains skin and doesn’t like to be blended out well on it’s own. Unless I want to look reddened where I blend this out, I have to use a powder under it, which defeats the purpose of it for me. For an opaque, rich color I don’t want to have to tone it down using another shadow… that’s just largely useless for me.
I do really like the color for thick applications, though, but only over primer. Without primer, it stains me. I’ll definitely try other purples next.

Love this eyeshadow! You get about 3.5 g for $12 (not including shipping), which in my opinion is a pretty good deal! The packaging that arrives in the mail is ADORABLE: cats, pink, and general bubbly cuteness! I love it! The shadow itself is a pigmented, matte, medium purple with a slight fuscia undertone. When it arrived in the mail, I was surprised at the color, I thought it would be slightly more blue based. Nevertheless, I adore Poison Plum eyeshadow.
There is a few downsides: 1)It stains like a mofo. If I wear this all day (with a primer AND a base underneath), I’ll remove my eye makeup and be left with a pink staining! Usually this goes away in like 2 or 3 days. I’m extremely fair (NC10), so this may not be an issue for darker skinned folk. 2) it can be quite dry (quality control issues I suppose). 3) Some pans can have pigmentation problems. Usually with a base (NYX Milk Base or MAC Chromaline in white) and some layering, I find it’s not a huge problem
Despite these flaws, I love this eyeshadow! Also, it’s a dupe for MUFE’s #92

My absolute favorite purple eyeshadow. I cannot rave enough about Sugarpill – the eyeshadows are INCREDIBLY pigmented and the packaging is adorable. The one downside is that these will stain your lids like nobody’s business (even with primer) but that’s something I’m willing to live with. The product also comes with a nice thank you note from Amy when you order from the website. Sugarpill’s definitely one of my favorite makeup brands! Love it.

I’m sad to read of others’ bad experience with this color as I got one from a “good batch” I suppose. It’s rich, smooth, and very pretty.

Okay, I have purchased this color twice and had the same problem as some reviewers. Mine was so hard and chalky that I couldn’t get color to build up evenly on my lids at all. No matter what base I used, I could not get the color to show up as it does in the pan–it was more that pinky plum stain color that it leaves behind. Plus, there was a ton of fall-out.
I thought maybe I was unlucky the first time and had gotten one from the bad batch, so Sugarpill replaced mine. My second one was exactly the same! Either I’m picky about the texture of my eyeshadows, or there are some serious quality control issues with this company. When something is described as “velvety” and “smooth,” I expect it to at least be somewhat soft and easy to blend. I have all of their other pressed colors; most are okay, but some are dry.
I guess I have to pick up MUFE’s #92…a bit cooler in color, but at least it’ll be smooth and pigmented.

Very nice warm purple & you get a huge amount of product. The packaging is cute & the CS is great. As with all SP shadows, don’t forget your primer/base!

I’m surprised so many negative reviews for this product, I absolutely LOVE it, I can understand getting maybe a bad batch, but I’ve gotten a bad one in Flamepoint before, I messaged the company and they sent out a new one right away 🙂
That being said, my Poison Plum is exactly what I was hoping for, bright, pigmented, easy to blend and it’s very true to color. I can’t say enough good things about this company, great products and great service, exactly what you want 🙂
