dismissed this brand before but after seeing a review on youtube by Miss Amy Rach where she has been loving some of their palettes (some are more pigmented than others) I decided to try “In the Mood”. It has one champagne shimmer highlight (good), one cream matte (ok), one pink matte (meh), one ashy taupe matte (poor), one brown matte (amazing), and one black matte (very good). I actually prefer it over my Urban Decay Naked 2 palette, which I never use as its a dull muddy palette and the colors all blend together.
PROS ARE: the 3 pigmented shades have a good impact (especially the 2 mattes, they are better than Urban Decay), doesn’t make my eyes look old or wrinkly, the case is sturdy and shuts with a satisfying “snap”, affordable.
CONS ARE: Bulky packaging with wasted space, super high fall out that goes onto the cheeks but also gets into my eyes. I don’t have a primer at the moment so that may be why it gets into my eyes. If I can solve the issue I will try others in the brand. If not I would not repurchase. Otherwise I like the quality of the shadows for the price.

This is one of several W7 products I own, and I’m kind of disappointed in it. I was attracted by the fact that W7 is cruelty-free, and I like products in tins (probably a little too much!). Also, I was intrigued by the similarity to the Naked travel palette–the W7 version I got is In the City. So I do like the packaging. It’s a little bulky, but not too big for my purse and definitely durable. The only problem with the packaging is that there’s no room for an applicator, and they definitely could have done that. The box says ‘Natural Nudes’ and this is definitely natural; I’m very fair-skinned and the next to the darkest shade hardly shows up on my eyelids at all. (I’m experimenting with using concealer on my eyelids instead of primer these days, so it’s not like I was just sloshing the shadow on my naked lids either. I also use face powder on my lids after applying my shadow.) So you kind of start off at a disadvantage with this shadow, and then it doesn’t last well. About an hour after applying, the shadow had faded so much that it was nearly imperceptible. Like I say, very disappointing. What makes this palette somewhat worthwhile is the range of colors, all nice warm-to- neutral mid-browns. I’m planning on trying these on my brows, and maybe as a little contour. And I’ll keep experimenting to see if I can make the shadows last on my lids. This would be great for someone just getting into makeup. But if you already have some good neutral shadows, don’t bother.

Obviously I’m a fan of this brand because I’ve got a number of their shadows, but whether you like “In the Mood” or not will depend on what you want from a palette. I’m just not a fan of shimmer that’s more than a hint. Subtle shadows are what I’m looking for, so the colors make a good base and contour. “In the Mood” plays well with the other W7 sets I own. I can add a touch of shimmer from one of the other palettes, and be good to go without a lot of fuss.
There’s nothing flashy here. The colors are very basic, but the staying power with primer is excellent. The lightest shades highlight under the brow, and the black makes a good liner with the right brush. It’s not easy to find an affordable, matte palette, so I was very happy to find this set. For $2.99 can you beat it?

I am new to W7 products. I saw them every time I went to Chemist Warehouse in Australia (the only stockists here) and I was curious. However, I think the low price put me off a bit. Anyway, I saw a few really positive reviews and decided to try a few items. My review is for the palette “In the city”. My usual eyeshadow is the Urban Decay Smoky palette where I mostly use the brown shades. Now I have to say that I was expecting very little pigment and a lot of fall out. To my surprise, the pigment is better than the Urban Decay and the fallout is zero. The lightest colour in the palette is a slightly shimmery champagne colour and it is just perfect as an entire lid base. Every colour in this pallette is useful which is more than I can say for the UD palette. Love it!

I have both palettes as well as the Naked Basics as a comparison, and I’m not particularly impressed with these as either a dupe in terms of quality or on their own in terms of quality. Most of the shadows in both palettes are not well pigmented. Usually less pigmentation is not a bother to me as I am very fair and prefer a very natural look on a daily basis. But I have to say, I really struggled to get these shadows to show up at all.
As well as not being well pigmented, the shades show up on the eye as being too similar to each other. The look tends to be a bit muddy overall unless you only use the lightest and darkest shades available. They do blend very well, though almost too well because they can easily become overblended, adding to the muddy effect.
The packaging is far bulkier than necessary though it is very sturdy. The sturdiness alone would make it a great palette for traveling, except that I struggle to get different looks out of a single palette because everything is a bit muted and muddy.
All that being said, when used over a primer the longevity was admirable and it takes me through most of a working day, despite having very oily lids. It’s not that it’s a terrible palette if you’re looking for very subtle and very natural, but that’s really about all it can do and only on very fair skin.
I do use these palettes for a quick and natural look on a regular basis, though I think I’m just using them to use them up. I wouldn’t recommend these as a dupe for the actual Naked Basics palettes, which have excellent pigmentation. I’d only recommend this for someone who is very fair and looking to add almost unnoticeable makeup into their routine. Other than that, I think most people would be disappointed.

I have both in the mood and in the city, they are lovely little palettes if you like natural (ish) look. They are soft, not chalky but there is some fallout so tap your brush. All eyeshadows are matte, pigmentation is just right for more natural look. I use them quite often – darker shades in the outer corners or as crease shades and black eyeliner. They also last well (i use just cheap primer and no creasing at all). For the price – highly recommend!

The palette itself is quite small, which is cute, but the size of the eyeshadows compared to the palette is a bit disappointing. They are stored in a tin container which is a bit flimsy but not too bad. The interior is just a piece of hard sponge with the eyeshadows nestled inside in their own individual tins.
I’m cool toned and fair, and the pigmentation is severely lacking in all of them, I really had to rub my fingers 5 to 8 times to even get enough colour to show up on my skin. The darker shades are lacking in pigmentation more than the lighter shades.
They are all very chalky, it was hard to use a brush because there was fallout everywhere. Now, when applying them on the eyelid, they will barely show up, you really need to build the colour up (any of them), which is a tedious task. Blending isn’t that bad, that’s okay, but the staying power is very poor. When applied on the skin without a primer/base of any kind, you can literally just rub your fingers across and it will remove all of your hard work.
I’m not going to review each individual shade because, to be honest, there’s no point, this palette really is just that bad. And that made me sad, I really hoped it would at least be decent enough – I wasn’t expecting too much, but damn. This is bad.
I honestly would not recommend this palette even for beginners, heck, I wouldn’t recommend it even to young teenagers because you can get better palettes in the drugstore for less money.
I haven’t found much reviews on this product, so I decided to write this review just in case someone was thinking about getting it and hoping it was a dupe for the UD Naked2 Basics – I am sorry to say, but no it is not.
Save your money and rather buy the real thing if you can.

DUPE ALERT !! Yes dupes for the Naked Basics palettes. Except for the tin packaging, the shades are pretty much similar and for a fraction of the price. These are just £3.99 a palette and really soft and pigmented Matt shades. I have the two palettes, In the Mood , In the City.
I am a fan of these now and would hunt for more of these affordable dupes. Have to say W7 did an impressive job of creating such good quality dupes.
