I have Andromeda in the NARSissist palette and didn’t really use it at all until a few days ago when I was looking for something light and bright to pair with MAC Silver Dawn. I hadn’t used Andromeda at all. I applied it damp and it applied really smoothly and it was almost like its own light source – really lovely and just the effect I was looking for and it paired beautifully with the cool mauvey/grey taupe of Silver Dawn. Glad I gave it a try.

This is one of those colors that I can see becoming a staple. It’s an easy to wear pale peachy-white with golden and pink tones. Almost like a multidimensional highlight with beautiful warmth and a subtle iridescent finish. There’s very fine pink and gold shimmer that’s sparse and light handed so the finish looks faintly metallic rather than obviously shimmery. It’s a dense color too so while it’s pale it’s noticeable and covers skin well. Not the ethereal wash effect of say Cassiopeia, which is also a pale white highlighter type of shade from the same Dual Intensity line. This would be like the warm toned version of Cassiopeia. Works great as an all over wash on the lid or as a brow/tear duct highlight. It looks amazing paired with peachy (like NARS Europa) or a golden brown (like UD’s Half Baked) crease color.
The texture is slightly stiff and doesn’t pick up on a brush as well as I’d like. So when I use it dry I need to apply it in layers to get a good color payoff, even over the NARS eye primer. But when I use it wet the effect is much more intensely metallic and that’s not always the look I’m going for so I get frustrated trying to find a balance that works consistently. It’s also thinner constancy wise so it’s harder to blend. It doesn’t have the dense, buttery texture of Urban Decay or Burberry’s shadows.
Packaging is thin with a metallic closure and the rubbery NARS finish which luckily is done much more subtly so it doesn’t get as dirty as the original packaging.
I’m pretty happy with this even with the less than great texture. It really stands out on my NW5-10 skin and I think it’s a flattering option for minimal makeup days. Sort of wakes up my eye area a bit.
