Not much I can add to all the other 5 lippie reviews. The color descriptions and the subtlety of the shimmer have all been described perfectly before me. No problems with creasing here. Having been powdering after application, I realized one time when I forgot to powder that powder e/s goes on smoothly right over this cream shadow. I really prefer the texture to using a shimmer powder e/s as a “pop” over a matte all over lid color. I really thought a formula this creamy would surely crease or fad a lot, but neither is the case. I am really loving a light application with my ring finger applied to my mobile lid and spread into the crease with what remains on my finger. The color pairs especially beautifully with the $TF Cocoa Mirage quad.

This is total perfection. The colour, the formula and the long-lasting results. It’s beautiful! I’ve had mine for over a year. It lasts a long time. The price is on the higher end but worth it. It’s the only eye product that I wear. No palettes for me.

Simply amazing., I’m kind of new to luxury prestige makeup other than chanel & Dior lip; I just got into charlotte Tilbury a few months ago & now TF$ my collex consists of 5 lipsticks, honeymoon quad & this Platinum. I’m going to order cocoa mirage & next month nude dip. Anyways I’m much more used to MAC, Urban Decay, Too Faced, Morphe, EL, Clinique,…BH Cosmetics even & I don’t use DS makeup a lot anymore except wetnwild occasionally & Maybelline color tattoo I was using barely branded as I perceived it to be a close dupe to Platinum (Bad to the bronze is a better dupe or tough as taupe maybe). This is much better than MAC PP’s, it’s Moussey, light & frothy wonderful texture & won’t crease but putting a similar color powder & KAPOW! It sets it making it indestructible won’t move til u tell it to. Prettiest effect: soft, ethereal, classic just add eyeliner (black, brown, deep navy is what 1s I like) w mascara…I’m so pleased w this product. #winning on my oiliest of oilies eyelids I don’t know how I managed for so long w/o this. I don’t follow the rule that evthing has to be matte when ur 39+. That’s just silly wear what u want life’s too short if u want this in hot pink && teal then rock it out!

This review is for Platinum, one of the most celebrated cream eye colors in the line. It is not a bold, standout shade. It’s a nice shimmery neutral that can be sheered out to a subtle beige or built to a deeper glimmering taupe. It’s not a truly natural look because it contains flecks of glitter, but that’s not a deal-breaker for most people.
The consistency of the Tom Ford cream shadow is a mousse, easy to blend, similar to the texture of Charlotte Tilbury’s Eyes to Mesmerise, which makes sense because she used to work for Tom Ford. I have Eyes to Mesmerise in Marie Antoinette, which shifts more in different light, and is warmer and more golden. Both are lovely colors.
For reference, my eyelids are not oily. My skin is not particularly dry either. I don’t wear eye cream or moisturizer under Platinum because it causes the shadow to crease, slide, or ball up. I apply Platinum directly to the lids. Once the blended mousse has set, the color appears slightly lighter than it looks when wet, however; it’s still nice. Worn alone, I’ve noticed that the Tom Ford shadow can crease mildly over the course of my workday (without primer under it, and without powder shadow on top of it). It was not a complete disaster like Benefit’s cream shadows which were the worst I have ever tried, but Tom Ford’s formula did not perform as well for me as Bobbi Brown’s cream shadows in glass pots. Her sticks are hit and miss – the formula seems to vary a little depending on the shade. In Bobbi’s stick formula, Truffle holds up well, but I had trouble with Goldstone, a metallic, which flaked. Tom Ford’s formula did not slide or flake – mild creasing was the only misstep. If I use a silicone-based eye primer such as Urban Decay’s Primer Potion under Platinum, the shadow actually can chip off or rub off if my eyes water. This only happens when I use primer.
Here’s a technique that works better for me: I pack on Platinum rather heavily (no primer beneath) with a paddle brush. I apply powder shadow on top of the cream shadow, concentrating most of the powder in the crease. I found that Platinum lasts better this way – the powder seems to prevent creasing and I had no obvious fading hours later. But I can’t use it as a “one-and-done” shadow.
I bought this in November of 2016. Tom Ford cream shadows used to come in larger containers, so if you bought one in 2015 or prior to that, you probably got more bang for your buck. When the container shrank, Tom also raised the price. The Tom Ford jar contains 0.17 ounces and costs $45. Each jar of Bobbi Brown cream shadow contains 0.12 ounces and costs $28. The Charlotte Tilbury jar is more generous than those, giving you 0.24 ounces of product for $32. Fiona Stiles Radiant Aqua Eye Veil costs $22 for 0.16 ounces. So hypothetically, if you were to buy a full ounce of each cream shadow (which would take a long time to finish), Charlotte Tilbury would cost $133.33 per ounce, Fiona Stiles $137.50, Bobbi Brown $233.33 and Tom Ford would be the most expensive at $264.71.
PROS:
Platinum is an attractive shimmery taupe color.
The formula is comfortable on my sensitive eyelids.
It’s easy to apply and blend.
It holds up well if I use powder shadow over it. (Does not last as well without powder shadow.)
CONS:
Tom Ford’s cream shadow can crease unless worn in combination with powder shadow.
Platinum can fade slightly. It appears to be very rich and pigmented when wet, but it can become a lighter, less intense beige after several hours. If I apply it heavily, it’s less likely to fade.
Tom Ford’s prices are high. MAC Pro Longwear Nourishing Waterproof Foundation is the same formula as Tom Ford’s waterproof foundation, but guess which one costs more? Parent company Estee Lauder owns both brands, but charges extra for Tom Ford’s name. Because they do, it’s worth noting that other creatives have been hired to design his makeup. He is a successful fashion designer, but he is not a makeup artist or a chemist. One of the people who helped him create the line was Charlotte Tilbury, a professional makeup artist who later went on to start her own business.
I was leery of giving Tom Ford another chance after having three bad experiences with his lipsticks, which cost fifty bucks each and went rancid in a few short months. I’ve never had that problem with cheaper brands, even with other brands Estee Lauder owns, so I thought the quality of the lipstick was poor considering the steep prices. I personally do not think Tom Ford’s name is worth the high markup. I avoided this brand for two years, but kept hearing raves about the cream shadow. So in spite of Tom Ford’s annoying ads, animal testing, inflated prices, and substandard lipsticks, I decided to review Platinum to see how it stacked up against my favorites.
In summary, Platinum cream shadow is good and I’m giving it a high rating, but it didn’t quite live up to the hype for me. Would not buy this one again.

This color is beautiful. It’s like a silvery bronze color. It almost looks wet on the eyes. It’s so easy to apply, I usually just use my finger and then blend out with a brush. It’s very flattering on my brown eyes. It is QUITE expensive, but it should last quite a long time as long as the lid is kept tightly shut. I’m thinking of purchasing opale next or the AW16 shade. Gorgeous!

This product is the HG for me.
In my old age, I find that eyeshadow creases on me, whether I use a primer or a MAC Paint Pot or a Bobbi Brown Shadow Stick. Sure, it stays on for a bit, but usually around the five to six hour mark, things break down. I try to embrace this and try for a smokier more undone look. But, I don’t like it!
I have never had this cream shadow crease on me, even after 12 hours. I have the Spring 2016 version of this shadow which is a taupe with the smallest bit of shimmer. I usually apply by gently dipping my pinkie in the product, and then tapping it onto the eye. If I get an even layer on my pinkie it is usually enough to warm up the crease in both eyes. You could build this product up, but I love how this one thin application of color has so much impact on the eye.
The texture of this product is pretty close to a thick smooth hair conditioner. I really appreciate that I have been using this product for six months and it is still has the same texture. The little pot only has .17 ounces, but it closes tightly to protect the product, and you really need so little for oomph. Their is no discernible aroma to the product, and it sets very quickly.
This product is glamorous, easy, and long lasting. And thus, even at $45, I am sure I will be picking this up again, and perhaps in other colors.
I would definitely suggest looking at these in person if you can. The names do not correspond well to the product or do the duochrome qualities justice. Also, as Christine at Temptalia points out, the colors have changed a bit over time.
Sure, it costs as much as a palette or two. But, I wear this more than any of my palettes and it always looks good. Worth it!

I have wanted to purchase this creme eyeshadow for oh … about three years. I already own two of his creme shadows and like them but with that hefty price tag I had to think good and hard before indulging in yet another. (To be honest, I have not always been a huge fan of Ford’s make up products and when you spend considerable money on something … well it can break your heart if it doesn’t meet expectations.) Anyway … this shadow is gorgeous and (I think) looks great on my hazel/brown eyes. You might think “platinum” and think sliver-ish and I have to say that while there is a sheen that is cast that bears a resemblance to silver – its a beige/almost duo chrome effect – and very chic and pretty when on the lid of the eye. A mousse like texture makes it very blend-able – best with a good shadow brush. The packaging is as you would expect – very nice. Pricey but will last me a very long time so … I am forgiving myself for buying it as I write this.

Tom Ford’s Cream Colors are all I wanted Bobbi Brown’s cream shadow sticks and metallic cream shadows (in the glass jars) to be! The apply evenly like a dream, not blotchy, and they last on my lids without a primer. Only at the end of the day do I see a bit of creasing, but it’s not an issue at all. Also, the shades are soft shimmers, and very flattering to eye lids of all ages, not making them look crepey which can easily add years. The formulation is like a soft mousse and it can be applied with a fingertip as well as a brush. The shade Platinum is a fantastic shade if you are looking for a neutral color that suits most skin tones. It is a silvery medium taupe, on its own it’s a good shade for a low-key look for everyday or weekends. If eyeliner and mascara are added and a deeper Cream Color shade such as Burnished Copper (which in fact is a darker shimmery taupe with a hint of olive) it makes for a quick, stunning smokey eye. The Platinum shade, while beautiful, may not be completely unique, but the formulation and finish of these Cream Colors in my experience certainly are.
