I was in a cool toned eyeshadow mood so I picked this up. Pigmented and smooth, but the grey/purple/taupe shades all looked the same on my eyelid. I rarely pick it up because it feels uninspiring to me.

I’ve had great success with the Cover Shot palettes I’ve purchased (I’ve read reviews, checked them out carefully for myself and purchased wisely, I think). A week or so back, while I was buying “Minimalist”, “Punked” caught my eye but I didn’t have time to check it out. But since seeing Ziggymama’s review and checking out those on Sephora’s site as well, I decided to pick this up. I got it on a Thursday at Shoppers, so 20% off and coupled with Optimum points, that makes the price for this almost free but even at regular price, this is a reasonably priced palette offering great, wearable shades in a good selection of finishes. Back in the day (waaaay back in the day), I was all about plum and purple shadows but in recent years, I’ve tended to shy away from them and veer off more to neutrals but the purples in this palette are so neutral leaning and wearable and they lean toward the very cool, grey side of purple (rather than reddish plum or blue tones) so I find this a lovely assortment to wear. I also appreciate that this, like Minimalist, has good lighter shades in it for browbone highlighting or for more natural, subtle eye looks. As Ziggymama said, this is a good travel palette – like Minimalist, this has everything you need in one little package so you can travel light.

I am liking this palette a lot more than I thought I would; I’m not usually big on nude/neutral eyeshadow/palettes, but this one is very pretty and versatile. Plus, it leans cool/neutral, not warm as most “nude” palettes do. Here’s the list of shades:
Headliner, metallic champagne
Punked, matte taupey charcoal
Anarkissed, matte nude blush
Soft Punch, matte medium taupe with mauve cast
Destroyer, matte medium taupe
Studded, dense metallic cool gold
Riot Girl, metallic medium dark purple plum
Combat Boots, matte black
Anarkissed and Soft Punch are both soft medium mattes, wonderful as a base crease shade. Studded and Headliner are both beautiful softly metallic golden shades, but still cool-toned. Destroyer is a great taupe. Combat Boots–I’m not usually big on black e/s, yet I used this as an outer corner deepener, and it melded well with the other shades. Riot Girl: I love purple eyeshadow, and this is a rather tame purple for me, but fits well with the rest of the colors and works for those who want a little color… but not TOO much. And Punked is a great charcoally taupey gray… doesn’t go blue like many grays.
These are soft and blendable, well pigmented with minimal fallout. Nice little compact, would be great for travel. I’ll definitely be getting more of these; got my eye on Prism now!
