This “pore balm” is a translucent wax that comes with a pad in the container to apply it with. My skin can get oily and I have noticeable pores on my nose and cheeks. I had high hopes for this balm after reading some of the reviews but it did absolutely nothing for me. It was as if I hadn’t applied it. My pores looked the same, and my skin got shiny in the same amount of time that it always does. I tried applying it under and over makeup, and also tried thickly layering it on, but no matter what it just didn’t work for me.
Edit: I’m going to increase my rating to 3 stars. While this is not a miracle product by any means it does blur my pores slightly when I tried it again on bare skin AFTER using a blackhead strip. It doesn’t cover up large pores but will slightly blur the small ones if they’re not clogged. There still isn’t any major oil control.

This is probably one of the best primers I have used in all of high end and drugstore, the other being Clinique Universal thingamajig.
First of all, the texture is pretty thin and not noticeable when you have this blended out. It has a faint lemony/citrus scent so if you’re put off by that, don’t get this. It definitely blurs out the pores around my nose and also helps smooth out the fine lines under my eyes.
Worn under just the powder or foundation (with natural to dewy finish), it keeps my T-zone from looking like an oil slick. Yes, the area starts looking a bit shiny after four hours or so but it doesn’t look downright greasy like it tends to do without a setting spray. Used with the NYX matte finishing spray and Ben Nye luxury powder, my T-zone can survive the night.
Another great thing is that it smoothes over acne and acne scars. I have tiny indents from acne and those are always tricky to cover up. This balm seems to sort out that problem for me.
For $14 CAD, you can’t really argue.

Like the packaging. Usually I like things that allow you to dispense without getting your fingers in it but I happen to love things that come in little tins.
I use this after Velvet Skin primer. Just in my t zone and eyelids.
It keeps the shine at bay for hours longer than anything I’ve used before. Blotting still but less and later in the day. Doesn’t dry up in seconds like other similar products (ie. Smashbox) so you have time to smooth it into the skin.

This is supposedly what this does:
“Goodbye to excess sebum oil!
-Oil Control Balm perfectly filling visible pores and fine lines for porcelain-like smooth skin.
-This magic balm prevents sheen caused by excessive sebum and keeps the skin soft all day long.
-It improves adherence to the skin of products used in subsequent stages for a velvet-like smooth finish”
This is fantastic for covering up pores. It comes in a twist cap tin container with a sponge. I just use my fingers. I don’t use this all over the face but only on and around nose and some areas on cheek. Then I use foundation. If you need hydration, they have another primer for that. This is specifically for pore cover and sebum control.
It does control oil on my nose very well, smells nice. I would not use this if you have dry skin. When I use my BB cream over this, the pores on my nose look almost gone.
