This doesn’t work like make-up remover at all. And I don’t like how my skin feels after using it. Waste of money.

This is another in a long line of Nivea eye makeup removers that claims to remove waterproof makeup. And yet another one that for me, didn’t. It removed my eye shadow just fine but trying to remove my waterproof mascara was an absolute chore to do. It claims on the bottle that there’s no rubbing required but that certainly wasn’t my experience. I soaked a cotton pad with this, left it on my eye for a good 30 seconds and then tried to swipe my mascara off. Nothing happened. It removed the smallest amount possible and I ended up having to rub at my lashes to get this to remove the rest. I used a lot of product simply trying to remove my mascara, meaning the 125ml bottle lasted just over 2 weeks – not cost-effective for me.
It might be reasonably cheap in Boots (anywhere between £1.99 and £3.99 depending on what offers are on at the time) but in my opinion, it’s not worth the money at any price. Lastly, the plastic bottle this comes in is black making it incredibly difficult to see how much product is left (and making it less widely recyclable in the UK too as recycling plants tend to prefer white and/or clear plastic for recycling).

Not as good as the Nivea Double Effects make-up remover when it comes to removing stubborn waterproof make-up. It will get rid of it eventually but it takes more product, more rubbing and more time to do so. It’s fine for non-waterproof make-up and gets rid of base make-up without irritating my skin, but for waterproof or very longwearing products it takes some effort to truly be effective. It does have two layers to it, organic and aqueous, but with a smaller proportion being the former. The bottle is black and just about see-through enough to see how much is left if you look very closely but I wish it just had a clear bottle so I could tell more easily. I’ve since gone back to the double effects one instead.
