I got this on a deal on hautelook, shampoo and conditioner. Wasnt too impressed. It cleans well but dries out my hair.
Need something more substantial. The bottle is useful but not my fav.

I have been in search of a lightweight fragrance free or low fragrance conditioner. Normally I do not like volume conditioners but I have tried EVERYTHING out there and I mean everything and this is the only conditioner that works for me. I have bought so many conditioners and thank God I have Redken Hair Cleansing Cream or Aveda Invati Shampoo (both of which I alternate and use daily) to immediately wash the conditioner out after one use. This is the only conditioner that works on my fine thick hair right now. The only thing I don’t like about the conditioner is that it is a volumizer but I have now been using this conditioner for over a year and it works. My daily regimen is Redken Hair Cleansing or Aveda Invati shampoo followed by Bamboo Abundant Volume. I have to use the clarifying shampoos otherwise my scalp will start itching which I caused not knowing I had a thyroid problem and my hair was dry because of hypothyroidism and I was dumping oily conditioners on my hair that created the itchy nightmare. And, no, clarifying shampoos do NOT dry my hair out. They are just shampoos without a conditioner! I have four grocery bags containing conditioners — aveda, matrix, terax, pureology, aussie, you name it — that were used once that I can hopefully give to a homeless shelter.

While this gets points because Alterna doesn’t test on animals, there’s no other reason to recommend it. It did nothing to add volume or even moisture. It’s one in a billion and thoroughly mediocre. It’s pricey given the lack of results. I didn’t mind the fragrance- the matching shampoo smells more fragrant (and worse, in my opinion.) I feel like you could get similar results from Suave for less than a buck, so I wouldn’t repurchase. Alterna’s caviar line is better than the bamboo volume line for my flat, dull, dry, lifeless hair.

I used the Alterna Bamboo volume conditioner with the matching shampoo and noticed no increase in volume on my fine, dry hair. The scent is a masculine cologne type fragrance. It was an average conditioner and did not leave my hair feeling hydrated but worked ok as a detangler. This contains silicones, vitamin b-5, and bamboo extact which is supposed to add volume to hair. When I use Marc Anthony’s Volumizing Collagen Bamboo conditioner, I do get some volume in my hair.

I hate the smell of this conditioner. It worked decent as a conditioner but why pay for this when there are cheaper and or better smelling alternatives out there. Going in the trash good thing it was a small travel size bottle.

I originally got this, and the conditioner, as a sample when I purchased something from Sephora.com. I have long, lightly layered, fine hair. It is also color-treated. Though I have a lot of hair, most of my life it has been limp and lacking volume (unless I use products to counteract that, of course).
These products are sulfate free, so they feel different than more traditional shampoos/conditioners when you put them in your hair. The conditioner doesn’t feel very slippery or moisturizing, but after using it and drying my hair (either air drying or blow drying) it seems like it has done its moisturizing job just fine.
The first thing I noticed after washing and conditioning with these products was the smell. I love when the scent of shampoos/conditioners lingers in your hair. I realize not everyone may like that. I love it. I also love this scent and disagree with those that say it smells masculine or like cologne. It is not a feminine scent, either, but I just find it to be very pleasant. I couldn’t stop sniffing my hair the first time I used it.
The second thing I noticed was the incredibly shine this gave to my hair. I have NEVER gotten a lot of shine from simply shampooing/conditioning before. I have had shiny hair after leaving the salon and having it colored, or washed and blowdried with other products, but never JUST from shampoo/conditioner.
My hair is slightly more bouncy and a bit more voluminous after using this, but nothing super drastic in my opinion. I would certainly purchase again, even though it is very expensive, because I’ve never had hair so shiny and nice smelling from just s/c before.
If you are looking for super duper volume/thickening, this might not be for you. See if you can get samples prior to purchasing.

I am on the receiving end of genetically miserable hair. I have very fine, long, graying hair that has dry ends regardless how often I trim or condition them. I use Bamboo moisturizing shampoo as a partner to this conditioner. I love the shampoo and believe I love this conditioner as well. I apply this to my ponytail, clip the end up and shower while this goes to work. This isn’t thick or greasy, in fact, I was convinced this was useless until my hair dried. That said, the only thing I really dislike about this is the overt scent. Why oh why does it have to be so cloying? The shampoo doesn’t reek. One lippie removed for the odor. Once rinsed and dried (I air dry my hair to limit more damage) my hair is very bouncy, shiny and really full. My ends currently need trimming but this has tamed them nicely. I have finally found a volumizing conditioner that works without making my hair a stringy mess.

I’ve tried so many volumizing hair products, and this is the first I’m going to reorder again and again. I have fine limp hair that gets oily quickly, and this conditioner is a dream. Definitely plumps it up.

i hate this conditioner as much as i hate the shampoo. it’s supposed to provide volume, but doesn’t at all. and as for conditioning, it’s lacking as well. it provides neither moisture nor detangling. i could have just as easily skipped using a conditioner and would have ended up with the same results. it’s pretty much useless. and it’s expensive (WAY overpriced).
the smell is similar to the shampoo…kind of masculine and cologne-ish. it doesn’t last in your hair, but it may be a bit strong while you’re applying if you’re sensitive to smells.
and as for the packaging, it’s the same as the shampoo. i love it. but overall this conditioner is as terrible as the matching shampoo.

I posted this on the shampoo, but it applies here too 🙂
After switching shampoo and realizing the old one was just knotting my hair and making it fall out, i knew i had to do something. My husband is in the military and we just moved to Tennessee…if you have ever been in this situation, then you know it is extremely difficult to find a good salon! Anyways, i have noticed a lot of salons around here using Alterna (found out on their websites.) So, as I’m trying to take better care of my hair and notice this is natural/organic, I figured i had to try it. I found it on eBay for cheaper than normal. (oh, btw, my hair is very damaged from dying it and very thin/fine….also, naturally curly/wavy.) It was pretty expensive for my taste, but considering this other shampoo (which is from a good company) was just knotting up my hair like a birds nest, i was getting frustrated to the core! Got this stuff in the mail the other day, used it yesterday and OMG! SUCH a 180* compared to before!! It didn’t even use my leave-in conditioner and my hair was amazing!! I usually have my husband touch my hair after i try something new and he’s like “yeah, it’s ok..” but yesterday, he loved how soft and silky it was!! Definitely going to stick with Alterna. FINALLY found something worth sticking with!
