I absolutely ADORE this cleanser! It’s amazing! I have had acne for a long time and i have tried many things including a prescribed topical gel and proactiv. This is the cleanser that has not irritated my skin or dried it out. I will keep on repurchasing this item.

My skin: oily/dehydrated, sensitive/reactive, clog/acne prone
I love the feel of this cleanser! It’s almost like a balm and seems hydrating for an acne treatment cleanser, but after a few days, my skin turned very red and irritated. I had irritation breakouts everywhere. I think my skin is sensitive to tea tree oil, so that likely contributed to the bad reaction.

The positive point about this cleanser is that this is sulfate free. It has sodium…sulfonate combination instead., so it’s less drying than a sulfate-based cleanser. The other nice thing about this cleaner is that it does seem to treat/reduce/inhibit acne appearance. The one thing I don’t like about this cleaner is the sticky-film like feeling I get on my skin soon after cleansing. Maybe during the colder, drier, winter months, this feeling will be okay (but not during the warmer, humid, summer months). This version is okay, but I prefer the original acne cleanser (formula) by Murad. I will go back to that. I hope though, the original one has been modified and is now also is without the sulfate (the container of the original that I had, contained the sulfate). The original with sulfate was a little drying (I have a review on the original version as well).
Update: it is now mid-November, and in the mid-Atlantic, cooler, and drier, climate I am finding that the cleanser is working well on my skin. I had this blemish that appeared practically overnight, recently, and within a couple of days it went away. I used a topical acne product once on the blemish, so maybe a combination of this cleanser and topical treatment took care of it. (Ordinarily, blemishes last on my skin for at least 4 – 6 days). So maybe this is a repurchase.

A little background information: I have normal to dry skin that is sensitive. I don’t have a problem with acne, but sometimes a product or something I cannot pinpoint will cause a breakout. My most recent breakout has been tiny pimples on one of my cheeks. I’ve had it for almost a year now, probably. After doing some research, I decided to try Murad Time Release Blemish Cleanser, which is purported to both help with blemishes and anti-aging, something I’m becoming more concerned with as I approach 30. After trying for a few days, I decided this cleanser was too much for my sensitive skin. But then I broke my bottle of other face wash, and I used this for several weeks because I didn’t want to bother running out to Sephora. Thank goodness for that broken bottle because after using this, I realized this isn’t too harsh on my skin (although I could probably go without using it in the mornings). My bumps aren’t completely gone, but they are noticeably much better. My skin also feels softer and just seems to look a bit brighter. I assume the brightness and clearness is from the anti-aging aspect. Very pleasantly surprised by this cleanser.

When I quit BCP at the age of 19, I began a battle with hormonal acne. My cysts never got to the point of some of, for example, the tutorials I’ve seen online. I never saw a dermatologist, never felt the need, but I struggled daily to cover painful breakouts along my jaw line and I had a hard time believing there was nothing that could be done.
Here’s the catch: I also have dry-tending skin. I think dehydrated would be the technical term. So, when I found a line that both treated acne and aging, I thought that maybe the aging benefits would treat my dryness while the acne benefits would treat (you guessed it) my acne.
And it DID. I use this cleanser in combination with the other anti aging and acne set, so that’s this, the Acne and Wrinkle Reducer, and the skin perfecting lotion. I also use the acne spot treatment for the odd (non-hormonal, that’s all gone away) zit.
My hormonal acne went away. I find that for just an extra shot of moisture, it’s nice to use a gel cream at night (currently using Neutrogena Hyaluronic gel-cream). I still struggle with my skin, but at least now I’m working on fading scars rather than healing cysts.
It’s pricier than Cetaphil, but try Amazon for a decent deal.

Save your money … This product is acne in a tube!! Normally I have normal skin with hormonal breakouts. Being in my 30’s I had seen raving reviews of this product and thought GREAT anti aging and acne treatment! They even post … Give the product time to work you may have an increase in break outs. Oh boy … What I had was occasional acne that turned into full blown acne Teen style. I gave it time but the acne just got worse! So I went back to my old routine and the acne cleared right up!! Steer clear of this product!!

I remember being so intrigued by their claim: ‘time release salicylic acid’. I was even more impressed by the ingredients.
Despite the low percentage of salicylic acid ( 0.5%), the mixture of amino acids like your proline, glutamic acid, arginine etc, anti bacterial agents from tea tree oil and zinc gluconate, Retinol, Anti Oxidant: Vitamin C from ascorbic acid and hydration from hyaluronic acid left me very impressed.
As a result, I immediately asked for a sample of it. Trying it out, I noticed a slight cooling sensation from it. Hurrying through the internet for the ingredients list again, there I saw menthol. Don’t know how I missed it out, with such an impressive list of ingredients, it sure left me disappointed. Menthol is quite a skin irritant for many people. I am one of those people and when I used other products with menthol I found that it broke me out. I couldn’t justify SGD 70.00 for 200 ml at Sephora as well.
I can only see this working if your skin is tolerant to the menthol. If so, this would be a lovely product.

I really like this cleanser, though there are some downsides too…
Good things:
– My face feels completely clean after I use this product, but it’s not drying
– Helps with blemishes
– I love the cooling effect on my skin on the morning!!
– Lasts a long time
– I like the package and design
– The product itself feels and looks really nice too
Bad things:
– Not really suitable for removing make-up, especially eye makeup because of the cooling effect
– Price
– Have to order online (Murad is not available in my country)

I found that this cleanser doesn’t remove makeup. I’m looking for multi-purpose cleanser and this isn’t it. I like the ingredient list excluding the menthol. Not sure what the purpose of including this was. For those with sensitive skin….beware of the menthol.

I really, really like this cleanser. I have struggled with acne since I was 14 years old (I’m now 24) and after trying countless over-the-counter as well prescription acne products, I was finally able to get my acne cleared with Accutane when I was 18. Now, I still have acne-prone skin, but it is mostly in my T-zone. I need a product that can help keep my acne at bay but isn’t too drying on my skin, which most acne products are. For a while I was using both Neutrogena’s pink grapefruit cleanser as well as La Roche Posay’s Effaclar cleanser, but I found that after a while they were just drying out my skin and making my skin texture and acne worse.
I first tried this product about 3 months ago and loved it immediately. I liked that it had enough salicylic acid to regulate my somewhat oily, acne-prone skin, yet not enough to dry it out. I love the creamy texture of the cleanser. It is certainly on the pricy side, but a little of the product goes a long way. I also found that, after using the cleanser, my skin tone was more even, softer, and brighter. 3 months later, the results are still the same and I still love this product. Would definitely recommend for those with similar skin types to mine.
