   This is one of my go to facial wash products. It definitely lives up to its product claims. The packaging is wrapped in a nostalgic, old fashioned bar of which then and now still has a contemporary, eye catching, sienna orange, clear see through appearance. The combination of ingredients is so effective it pulls dirt and oil out of the face immediately. How do I know? I’m able to smell the dirt and oils that are extracted from my face as it lathers. Lather is fair. It performs much better then any liquid or pump cleansers with the exception of probably its own liquid pump of which I have yet to try however, I have tried enough to make this remark.
   It’s worth every cent that is charged for it.
   The finished result are fabulous. leaving a natural glow after a few days. For acne it takes a week or 2 to see effective results. I have slight breakout prone skin on my lower chin. Skin is tedious and takes consistency. It doesn’t strip my skin or cause breakouts. There is a slight fresh scent left behind, which is not bothersome at all. After immediate use my face is left feeling clean and a little tingly. I have sensitive, combination skin. It does leave my face a little dry so I didn’t rate it a full 5 lipstick. I recommend a moisturizer about 10 minutes after a cleansing.

   Everyone you have to remember when changing to a new product on your face you will experience breakouts and blemishes and bumps. It’s normal! Your face is used to something and now you’re changing it m so of course these unfortunate things will happen. They’ll go away in a week guaranteed. Remember if you suddenly break out when you change to any new product you already have acne, or what have you, already in there so this is just letting it come out, which is what you want! I love this bar! Yes it goes gooey but so does any other bar of soap. Buy a soap container that leaves it covered with no water in with it. I got mine from the dollar store and my bars of soap last forever. And the price! For a pack of 3 bars I’m laying $5.99 CDN so that’s an awesome price for what you get. I’m true Neutrogena for anything with my face. I use ONLY Neutrogena on my face. From the Micellar Water to Make-up to soaps and facial wipes…. I swear by it!

   I have used this off and on since my teenage years when I wanted a clear soap which was good for blemishes with no added moisturizers or perfumy scent. However, the last batch I got is not the same. It has a musty smell, and the ingredients are completely different. Why don’t they change the name if they change the entire product? After realizing I didn’t like it anymore I gave away the last bars in the pack and will never buy it again.

   You can look up Neutrogena ads from the early 1960s and see that it was a dark amber shade. It’s now a pale peach shade.

   I found some for sale on the web which listed different ingredients. I don’t know what year this is from:

   Water, glycerin, cocamidopropyl betaine, hydrogenated castor oil, cocamidopropyl hydroxysultaine, xanthan gum, salix alba (willow) bark extract, guar hydroxypropyltrimonium chloride, hydrogenated jojoba oil, glycol distearate, sodium benzoate, fragrance.

   Here are the current ingredients:

   Triethanolamine, TEA Stearate, Sodium Tallowate, Glycerin, Sodium Cocoate, Water, Sodium Ricinoleate, Sodium Oleate, Cocamide MEA, Disodium Cocoamphodiacetate, Fragrance, Sodium Stearate, BHT, Tocopheryl Acetate, Tetrasodium Etidronate, Trisodium HEDTA, Sodium Metabisulfite.

   On March 18,2019, I bought this product the (neutrogena facial cleansing bar). I read some reviews online with people saying it help with oily skin, and will have your face feeling really clean. I washed my face with this cleansing bar on March 18th the day, I bought it. It lathered good, and I washed my face with it before, I went to bed. The very next day when, I woke up my skin felt really tight. So I looked in the mirror, and my entire face was (RED, AND MY SKIN WAS LITERALLY BURNED)! I washed my face with cold water, and it was so raw that, I could barely touch it. I had red patches on the sides of my face, around my nose, over my entire chin, all over my jaws, and EVERYWHERE! I didn’t know what to do so, I hurried up, and put neosporin on it. I noticed the next 2 days it still was barely healing, because it was literally scabbing up in DRY PATCHES.I kept it moisturized all day everyday, but the neosporin wasn’t healing it fast enough. I googled all kinds of stuff to use, and that is when I found HUNDREDS OF HORRIBLE REVIEWS ABOUT THIS PRODUCT DAMAGING OTHER PEOPLES SKIN JUST LIKE IT DID MINES. So I immediately went to and purchased (NATURAL BRAND-FILTERED WHOLE LEAF ALOE VERA GEL), I went to buy some (ROSE WATER-HYDRATING FACE MIST, WITH HYALURONIC ACID), and I went to purchase:(SHEA MOISTURE- ULTRA HEALING ALL-OVER HYDRATION- 100% RAW SHEA BUTTER). I immediately sprayed the rose water on my face in the car, and opened up the aloe gel, and put it on my face with my index finger. The aloe vera gel stings just a (LITTLE BIT FOR 2 SECS), but that is because it is killing the bacteria on your face. I immediately felt it work in seconds! I then rushed home to put the shea butter on my face and placed neosporin on top of it. My face started healing immediately after 4 hours and looking at my face in the mirror those super red spots where fading! I even dapped my face with a paper towel to see if it was really working, and to look at it dry. OMG!!!!!!!!!!!! The spots on my face are literally healing, and I’m going to repeat this regimen everyday until my face heal all of the way up. Now I do know I have to keep some moisturizer on my face throughout the day at work so, I will use the (ROSE WATER MIST). So if any of you guys have been affected by the HORRIBLE PRODUCT THAT NEED TO BE TAKEN OFF OF THE MARKET ASAP! Please follow these steps to start your process of healing:

   1)SPRAY YOUR FACE WITH-(ROSE WATER-HYDRATING FACE MIST, WITH HYALURONIC ACID)
   2)RUB YOUR FACE WITH-(NATURAL BRAND-FILTERED WHOLE LEAF ALOE VERA GEL)
   3)RUB YOUR FACE WITH-(SHEA MOISTURE- ULTRA HEALING ALL-OVER HYDRATION- 100% RAW SHEA BUTTER).
   4)RUB YOUR FACE WITH-NEOSPORIN- ORIGINAL OINTMENT

   I know everyone skin is different, but this is what is working for me. I was soooooooooooooooooooo embarrassed to even go anywhere with my face with red burned patches all over my face. Everyone staring at my face, and asking me what happened to it is just simply embarrassmening. Not to mention, I have beautiful clear skin, but I just wanted to try something to help with it being so oily. I wish I would’ve found this website before, I even bought this product. Like my face is going to take a few weeks to heal like it should, and I don’t even want to leave my house. That is how bad it is!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This product need to be BANNED FROM THE FDA, because it is damaging peoples skin, and I’m quite sure worser than my situation! I used this product one time for one day, and now it is going to take weeks for my skin to heal properly! I regret ever buying this product, and I hope my regimen help hundreds of people who have suffered skin damage from (NEUTROGENA FACIAL CLEANSING BAR)! 🙂

   While I agree with the general research and consensus that all ‘saponified’ soap is drying, even ones made specifically for the face like this one, which can also have a high PH, the result for me is perfectly clean, make-up free, soothed skin. I don’t find it all drying but that is for me and my combination skin only, I don’t know about anybody else’s use with this product. Very old fashioned facial cleansing bar soap I believe this was created in 1954 and has been an American household staple for many many years. They also have a version in liquid form, see Liquid Neutrogena Facial Cleansing Formula, which I also love! Both of these products come in classic, no frills, old fashioned packaging with the beautiful rich amber colour. I use this twice a day but like to reduce its’ use to once at night in the winter. Those with dry to severely dry skin should avoid this cleanser as it can have a slight tendency to be drying if used over zealously. This can be used with your hands and plain water or with a washcloth. Removes a full face of makeup and is clean rinsing. A staple in my cabinet.

   This is a really good cleanser. I have only found one other that doesn’t contribute to breakouts, and it’s much more expensive. I really need to find a better soap dish or way to store it because when I do, I probably won’t buy the other anymore. If it’s stored damp or in a humid place, it basically melts into goo. That’s the only negative thing that I can say about it.

   I love this product because it helps with my oily skin. It feels smooth and very clean for a while I was using the st Ives face scrub but I decided to switch over. With the bar it takes all my make up off, just to be sure I always use witch hazel after. To stop it from making my face dry I pair it with Mario badescu’s cucumber spray, the rose petal spray, as well as the lavender spray.

   The soap was very helpful for me, my skin has cleared up since I’ve started using it but it took time (5-6 months), I think it’s an overall good product, the packaging is not so good, but for me and my skin the product worked really well. Th eproduct is mainly used to remove dirt and all the dirty things your skin goes through the day therefore it may not clear your acne if that’s what you want.

   I bought this after finding out that this is what Jennifer Aniston uses and has used for years, but I didn’t expect it to be anywhere near as drying as it was. I have combo/oily skin and my t-zone is particularly oily but this made my skin feel really tight/dry and uncomfortable and gave me little white bumps across my chin and jaw. It’s really good value for money but definitely wouldn’t recommend it.

    Gentle cleansing bar. If you do not have much to remove then this is a decent cleanser.
    I would not rely on this to cleanse off all my makeup.
    I like these bars just for the nostalgia of them.
    I like the weird scent they have. It also kinda bothers me because I do not really care for it either haha.
    These have never helped my oily skin in any formula I have tried and I tried them all multiple times.
    I think if you have normal skin or dry skin these may work really well.
    They are pretty gentle on the skin and price is great.
