I’m truly shocked this isn’t rated higher! I’ve been using this cleanser for over a year and it was truly the first product that helped me clear up my life-long break outs for good. For reference, I have the oiliest skin possible, acne prone, very sensitive, and tend to have dryness around my eyes and mouth. My breakouts have since basically stopped with the exception of a monthly hormonal beast (also FYI, I’m 29), and I really think this cleanser has a lot to do with it.
I first tried the enzyme cleanser, which I like fine but it was too drying for every day frequent use. I switched to this because my skin was especially inflamed at the time, and the description boast anti-inflammatory, calming properties. It did all of that. I use this morning and night. At night I start with a homemade oil cleanser, steam with a warm washcloth, then I follow up with this cleanser. My skin feels super clean and glowy without irritation or tightness. I do not notice residue, as some folks below mentioned. It’s important to rinse thoroughly if you’re not used to a cream cleanser. Foaming cleansers definitely rinse away much quicker and easier. For the record, if I’m lazy this cleanser still takes off all of my makeup if I’m feeling lazy and don’t feel like doing the oil cleanse first.
I love products and tend to bounce around in other categories when I get excited about something new, but I’m on my 4th large bottle in over a year now (I buy the large 16 oz) and am not even remotely interested in trying something different. I think it is particularly great for skin with small, inflamed acne, especially if you use medicated products and don’t want your cleanser to include medication on top of all that. I do a lot of at-home peels and masks, so I get enough exfoliation from those. Also, this cleanser lasts a really long time and it’s a ton of bang for your buck. For the price, you’re getting a lot more product than other brands you’d find at Sephora. I mean, the Fresh Soy Cleanser is 38 bucks for 5 oz, and this is 26 dollars for 16 oz, so there’s that.
I only took off lippies for the packaging! The MB gel cleansers have a great squeeze top, but this cleanser just has a twist top and it can get messy if you don’t rinse it. I’m sure it’s packaged like this because the bits of seaweed would clog up a pump. I’m sure if you were really industrious, you could buy a pump top and see if it works with that.

This is the worst facial cleanser I have ever used. First, the smell. Oh, help me, the awful lingering smell of this soap. The fragrance reminds me of a cheapened down version of a Claire Burke “Sea” scented potpourri bag that I had in the 90’s. This is not a sudsing cleanser but more of a cleansing cream with large granules of seaweed bits. The granules are large but soft, so are rather inefficient at exfoliating the skin. The packaging claims that this is a soap free cleanser best for light makeup removal and that it is easy rinsing.. This was a below average cleanse for me that left a film on my skin. I had to rewash my face for fear that the film would cause a breakout. Also contains paraben preservatves.

Ehhh, is really all I can think of in one word to describe this product. It isn’t bad but it isn’t magical either. Not in the way that Living Libations was for me. I’ve had this since Mothers day and every time I use it it burns my eyes something terrible. I water up, I can’t see, it is awful. Generally when a product starts doing that I throw it away. However, I am on a kick to use up all my products so as to not be wasteful. I apply this in the shower now to avoid getting it in my eyes.
It smells perfectly fine, not really like seaweed, maybe a tiny bit, but something powdery too. Not sure what it is. The little bits in it are semi annoying, yeah I get it you have seaweed in your product, and I could do without them being all over my neck when I’m done.
This is a gentle cleanser, however, lately it has been leaving me feeling a little tight. In the beginning it didn’t so I don’t know what is going on there. But I just use the Rose water aloe spray, from Mario as well, and I’m perfectly fine.
I won’t repurchase this but I don’t think it is awful. Lush Aquamarina is somewhat similar, except this one doesn’t have the clay, and I’d rather go with that for the seaweed. I won’t however since it has salt and other essential oils in it that aren’t great for the skin. 😕

I received a sample of this and used it for about a week. It’s very creamy and moisturizing, and feels gentle on my sensitive dry skin. Doesn’t leave my skin tight or dried out. Not sure if the seaweed actually does anything. You don’t need to use a large amount either, which is nice. Maybe about a quarter size. My main issue with it is that it did not remove my makeup very well at all. Other than that, no real complaints.

Ok so I’ve been using this product for a few months and it is amazing I have oily sensitive skin, which is always red and was so I was surprised I could use this because I thought I might react to it but I didn’t. I can’t use many products because I have a reaction to fragrances and alcohol. Only thing I’d complain about is the lid I bought one of those cheap travel shampoo bottles and took the lid off and put it on the mario badescu bottle that that way I don’t waste too much soap. I found this product improved my skin and helped my skin look better highly recommend, also didn’t really like the smell too much but you get used to it. Hated the lid so gave it 3 lippies btw I only use this during the day and at night heard that it shouldn’t be used more than that.

This product feels and smells luxurious to me, like something that would be in a nice spa or a high end hotel. I bought it looking for a gentle exfoliant, and while there are pieces of seaweed mixed in, their exfoliation power is so minimal I don’t see the point. This cleanser leaves my skin feeling smooth, but I highly doubt it’s because of the seaweed, rather just the moisturizing formula. I do like the overall finish though, it is very soothing. The price is very reasonable. But for the love of god Mario, can’t you put a pump on your cleanser bottles? There is no dispenser of any kind, which means you have to unscrew the cap and squeeze out of a wide opening. It seems like I end up wasting a lot of product this way, even though the soap is pretty thick. I like this cleanser, but I probably won’t buy it again.

For reference, I have dehydrated-normal acne-prone skin and I found this cleanser to be gentle and non-stripping. The scent is a powdery sea scent but not overwhelming and it doesn’t linger after the product is rinsed off. A little goes a long way and while the product seems expensive at first, it’s a cost-effective option in the long-run.
However, the cleanser wasn’t a good fit for me because it leaves a film behind and the dispenser is large and unwieldy. Aside from those shortcomings and the scent though, I found this a decent option.

I ordered a skin care sample kit from the Mario Badescu website, and they sent me the Enzyme Cleansing Gel. While I thought that cleanser worked well, but I really disliked the smell of it (it smelled a bit like rotting fruit, to me) so, I went back on their site, and looked for something else to purchase.
The description of Seaweed Cleansing Soap, mentions both “anti-inflammatory”, and “sensitive” skin so, I thought that this would be a great cleanser for my sensitive/dry/combo skin. Without ever trying it, I purchased the largest bottle I could get (16 oz), and the results I’ve had have been great! I use this as the first step in my skincare routine, and my skin no longer ever feels dry, tight, or uncomfortable! This is a creamy cleanser, that doesn’t foam.
I really like how soft, and gentle this cleanser is on my skin. The little bits of seaweed in it, are perfect for daily exfoliating of sensitive skin like mine.
The price of this cleanser might scare away some budget shoppers; but I’ve had the 16 oz. bottle of cleanser for a little more than 3 months now, and still have at least 60% of it remaining. I find that for the tiny amount I need to use each time, it actually costs me less than any drugstore cleansers I’ve used, and the quality is so much better! I will most definitely repurchase this.
The few cons: The aforementioned bits of seaweed are black, and can get caught in the hairline if not rinsed really well.
If you dislike, or can’t use cleanser that contain fragrance, stay clear of this one. To me, the fragrance of this cleanser is very strong/powdery-like. It’s taken me a while to get used to the scent, but now it doesn’t bother me quite as much.
Because the cap of this big bottle has such a large hole for dispensing product, they might include, (or at least offer as a separate purchase) a long pump for easy dispensing. However, this is very easily rectified by slowly dispensing the cleanser into a small, plastic, travel sized shampoo bottle, for daily use.

This has been my go-to daily cleanser for about 10 years. I can use it twice a day and my skin doesn’t feel dry, even in the harsh winter months. I have strayed from it before and always come back. When I do, I get tons of compliments on my skin. Love it!
