I am loathed to give LRP a negative review, as their products are usually a safe bet for my sensitive skin. However, this irritated the hell out of my eyes and I do not see how it can be suitable for those with sensitive skin and rosacea. Just no. I have trialled it on and off all week and every time I use it my eyes burn immediately. Tonight I used it as a first cleanse and purposely followed it up with a much harsher foaming cleanser which contains AHA/BHA and SLS – which soothes my skin and gave me no reaction whatsoever. So I know there is something in the cleansing gel my eyes do not like. That being said, it is unfragranced and a pleasant texture that leaves little to no residue so perhaps it’s worth a try if you don’t have any sensitives, particularly with your eyes.

I honestly wouldn’t have bought this if I’d been shopping online, as most retailers are still listing the old ingredients however looking at it in person I realised it now has the same ingredients as their micellar gel, minus the fragrance so decided to give it a go. I find the original micellar gel scent overpowering and unnecessary for my sensitive skin, so this is much better for me and caused no sensitivity issues at all. However the dryness in my skin was definitely exaccerabted by something in this formula, my skin felt tight and got a bit flaky with increased usage, which is a shame but I’m currently using it up as an eye make-up remover as it doesn’t sting and removes light make-up fairly well.

I do find this refreshing gel to be very pleasant to use.
It is more like a water-boost for me than a cleanser and use it after all make up is removed, more like giving the skin the feel of waves of moisture.
It is a simple formula of some water soluble silicone in water and a bit of hyaluronic acid.
It is the exact same formula as the LRP Micellar Water Gel minus the fragrance.
It is also a very similar formula to the Clinique Micellar Gel (pink tube). This has the added benefits of glycols and some very good anti-inflammatory actives too with an overall lighter feel than the LRP Micellar Gels. (They retail for around the same price however the one from Clinique is 150 ml while both of the LRP Gels are 195 ml.)

I am completely in love with this micellar gel. I’ve tried so many micellar waters that would irritate my skin or I found that I would always have to use a lot of product to get all my makeup off, and this one takes everything off far easier. The no rinse makeup removal products I’ve used before always seemed to irritate my eyes because they emulsified into a milky lotion, but this one stays a non-irritating gel, no matter how much makeup it collects. It’s so gentle and hydrating, and my cotton pad doesn’t drag across my skin like it does when I use lotions. I use both sides of one cotton pad per removal, where as before, I was using two cotton pads.

I have tried EVERYTHING – Clinique, Kiehl’s, Clarins, Estee Lauder, Philosophy, Neutrogena, Origins, Mario Badescu, Nuxe, Vichy, Bobbi Brown, Shiseido, Shu Uemura, Murad, Aesop, Dermalogica, Cetaphil, Avene… all product lines, from liquid, milk, oil and bar cleansers… wasted SO much $$$… everything seemed to break me out and irritate my super sensitive, combination skin.
This is the only cleanser that my skin can tolerate. Cleans extremely well without stripping or drying my skin out. Leaves my skin super soft and glowing. No more dry patches! Took one lippie off for packaging because I’d prefer a squeeze type bottle, but can’t be too picky.
NOTE: I use this as a daily cleanser and not a makeup remover. I use a separate makeup remover for eye makeup. I tried other cleansers in the La Roche Posay line, including Micellar Water Ultra and Toleriane Dermo Cleanser, but these broke me out as well. So if you lose hope, keep trying! 🙂

Honestly I’m not sure what to make of this makeup removing gel. It feels like aloe vera gel but without the cooling sensation. Is it effective as a makeup remover? I guess so, but not any better than a cleansing balm or oil product. In fact, I find this kind of strange, like I need to use cotton rounds, wipes, or some other material to wipe this from your skin but it does rinse clean with just water. I received a rather generous sample of this when purchasing some of my go to LRP products and figured why not give it a try but it’s not one of those products I would have automatically reached for and purchased by choice. On the plus side, it is gentle and does not irritate my skin. However, I don’t find myself reaching for this as I’m used to a cleansing balm or oil followed by a hydrating cleanser.
Ratings:
Formula/texture – 5 (gentle gel that rinses clean)
Fragrance – 5 (no discernible scent)
Packaging – 4 (pump dispenser, but prefer squeeze tube for gel products)
Effectiveness – 3 (removes some makeup but not all)
Cost – 2 (expensive)
I’d give this an overall rating of 3.5. It is just too expensive when you consider it’s ability to remove all makeup and because it comes is in a pump bottle there will be wasted product remaining iin the bottle.

Its like the the Clinique take the day of balm but in gel form. I have really sensitive eyes and skin. This doesn’t irritate me at all doesn’t leave my skin oily or red. I like taking it off with a makeup wipe. Its so easy to use definitely would repurchase

This is my favourite makeup remover for everyday use, and god knows I’ve tried many.
Liquid removers dry out my face, oil-based ones leave me feeling oily and gross, creams cause breakouts. Oh, the joys of combination skin.
This little baby is gel-based (and paraben-free, incidentally). Unlike several of the reviewers here, I find it removes my makeup efficiently, but I’ve been using it quite differently. Instead of rubbing it into my skin to dissolve the makeup, I’ve been applying it directly onto cotton pads, and using them to rub the makeup off. I find it’s been leaving my skin refreshed, cleansed and feeling clean. The only thing it doesn’t remove are waterproof mascara and very pigmented lipstick like MakeupForEver’s – but a few drops of olive oil will do the trick for those.
The gel texture is also super hydrating without leaving your skin oily or sticky. I find I always rinse out ‘no-rinse’ cleansers, but this is great on its own.
The pump is also super practical.
Will DEFINITELY repurchase.

2 pumps of this and some vigorous massaging couldn’t even shift my non-waterproof mascara and BB cream so god knows how much you’d have to use to remove a full face of makeup. It also left my skin red and irritated. Not good.

I won’t be buying this again!
I use Toleriane Fluide as my moisturizer and it’s super gentle on my skin, so I wanted to try out a gentle cleanser from the same range. However, this is the second Toleriane cleanser I’ve tried without much success, the first being the purifying foam which stripped my skin.
I have rosacea and some hormonal acne and while this product left my skin feeling clean-ish, it also left me extremely red and irritated.
Not worth the hefty sticker price either!
