I’m reviewing the product “Perfect Cleansing Oil”, it comes in a pale pink packaging. Not sure if it’s just different in North America. My skin has been flaring up possibly due to my pores not being cleared out. I went into Sephora to find something that could remove my daily makeup thoroughly. I was recommended to use the oil cleansing method and this product. I have combination-oily, acne-prone, sensitive skin, oils scare me. But, I decided to give it a shot, maybe this would be my cure-all.
After using this for 3 weeks, I’m not sure I like this at all. First off, it smells like baby oil. I could live with that. I do think it removes my makeup, but not 100%, and that is not good enough for me especially with that price tag. I do use a gel cleanser afterward to complete the double cleanse. I’m still breaking out, not at terribly as before but something is still producing comedomes. My skin isn’t as congested and clogged..but I’m still getting cystic acne-like bumps on my chin and cheeks. They are deep, painful to touch. Compared to the whites heads before. I will be returning this.

It did its job, but something about this oil cleanser felt almost gritty and a bit unpleasant. Maybe it was the fact that it had mineral oil and fragrance in it. My skin seemed to become pretty terrible over time; perhaps this was a contributing factor. In any case, I probably won’t be buying this again, or anything w/ mineral oil and fragrance.

This was my very first facial cleansing oil, which also had me following the ‘oil cleanse/double cleanse’ regimen hype. I found this product on YesAsia, which sells a variety of Asian makeup/skincare lines, and bought this because I thought was fairly cheap (~$12 for 150mL). The FT Shiseido Senka Perfect Watery Oil DOES contain mineral oil, so that may be a deal breaker for some of you MUAers.
The “double cleanse” method starts off with the oil cleanser: I find 2-3 full pumps is more than enough to cover your entire face, and I massage that onto my dry skin. If you wear eye makeup, I suggest removing it with an eye makeup remover prior to the oil cleanse since it will help deep cleanse your face more effectively. After massaging for 1-2 mins, I splash a little water onto my face and continue lathering. THIS STEP IS IMPORTANT! It helps the oil emulsify and essentially breakdown the makeup/dirt on your face, and I find it also even ‘slips’ out any pesky white/blackheads on your skin. Follow my rinsing off the rest of the oil and patting skin dry. The Senka oil definitely was effective in breaking down my makeup without stripping my skin of the natural oils, and although I am very acne-prone, I did not break out with this cleanser (despite the mineral oil).
To quality this regimen under the “double cleanse” method, I follow up the oil cleanser with a gentle/mild cleanser to wash off the leftover oil, and then go through the rest of my regular night routine. I really enjoyed this oil cleanser as my first one, and would definitely repurchase in a heartbeat. I just ordered the DHC Deep Cleansing Oil, but definitely would say this is a cheap & good oil to start with if you have never tried oil cleansing.

This is one of the few Shiseido products that I don’t like. It doesn’t remove all my makeup and really stings my eyes. It leaves a filmy residue and feels really oily. Do not recommend!
Please watch my tutorial using this!

I have both the Perfect Oil and Perfect Watery Oil.
Perfect Oil:
Comes in a small 150ml pump bottle and claims to be able to remove white n black heads. It is a very watery clear oil that smells fruity. However it is hard to like as it leaves a oily layer on skin even after water is added n emulsification takes place. So u will need to follow up with your regular cleanser. works well I guess in removing sunscreen n BB cream. I do not like this product from at all.
Perfect Watery Oil:
Comes in a big 230ml bottle and claims to be usable with wet hands. This is true and this cleansing oil works very well for me. it cleans well, emulsifies well and doesn’t leave a trace after u add water n rinse it off. One could skip the regular cleanser routine when using Watery Oil. But I do follow up with a foaming cleanser though just to be safe. This Watery Oil I will definitely repurchase.

Didn’t cause any break outs or made my dry cheeks any worse. Doesn’t leave my face feeling oily. It’s great for cleaning bb creams or any kind of facial products. But, yeah there’s a but, it literally doesn’t do anything for my eyes! I tried everything with this but it just doesn’t clean my eye make up. I have to use an eye make up remover but other than that, I like it.

What a shame. Liked the packaging, fragrance, price and accessibility of this cleansing oil, but it sadly clogged my pores. I was careful to only introduce this into an established routine and my skin slowly started getting worse. I stopped using this and went back to another oil cleanser (Hipitch) I’d been using and the clogs/irritation went away. I’ve got a nearly full bottle of this left, which I doubt I can use up. I won’t buy this again. I also found that when i cleansed afterwards, that the lather went very quickly (if that makes sense). However, using the same cleanser after the Hipitch, this doesn’t happen and the lather stays for longer when I cleanse. This made me wonder if the Shiseido Perfect Oil simply isn’t ‘rinsing’ off very well and leaving more of a film on the skin, which caused my clogs. I’m not sure, but I can’t risk using this any more.

This is not good for removing makeup. I washed my face with it and then used my clarisonic and my clarisonic brush was full of makeup. What a disappointment, since this is what I purchased it for. For washing my face after my makeup is removed by something else, its fine. Leaves my skin feeling soft.

Purchased this because it was way cheaper than the sheseido makeup cleansing oil in the clear amber bottle. Well, sometimes cheap turns out expensive. This oil smells nice but does not work well like the other product and it leaves an oily residue where the other one does not. Also I have notice a cloudiness over one eye when I use it.
I have changed my mind on this product, though it is cheaper it works so much better except when using around the eyes it makes your sight cloudy. I will purchase this again

I’ve been using it only for a week and like it so far. My skin is VERY dry and sensitive and it doesn’t leave my skin greasy and doesn’t irritate it.
The only thing is the smell – i just don’t like it.
i will try it out longer and if the result is good i could manage the smell.
