I have struggled with my skin for years. It is extremely oily and very prone to clogged pores and breakouts. I used to focus my attention on moisturizers and treatments, thinking they would save my skin. I never thought cleanser made a difference….until now. This product is HG for me. It is super gentle. It is the only cleanser I’ve ever tried (and I’ve tried a lot) that doesn’t leave my skin feeling dry and tight. It glides on, rinses off cleanly and leaves my skin feeling fresh, clean and soothed. It’s not like any other gel cleanser I’ve tried before. It doesn’t foam, which might be the key to its gentleness. I think the foaming surfactants used in a lot of cleansers are too harsh for my skin and leave it feeling stripped. This is kind of like a cross between a cream and a gel. It’s totally water soluble so it doesn’t leave any residue, but it’s gentle and hydrating like a cream. I still use a micellar water to remove most of my eyeshadow first, but this removes the rest of my makeup just fine.
This product is also very good value for money. I picked it up at Walmart for $10 CA, and you get 350ml which is substantially more product than you get from a lot of other brands at that price point.
I have noticed improvement in my skin since I started cleansing with this. I went away for a weekend and took a different cleanser with me, since pump bottles are difficult to travel with. After just a few days of using the other cleanser, my skin started clogging up and breaking out again. Then when I returned home and went back to the Marcelle cleanser, things started improving again. Could be a coincidence, but regardless, I love the way this cleanser performs and will definitely be repurchasing.

I bought this cleanser in the travel size and I really like it that I went and bought the 500 ml bonus size for around $13 Canadian
I believe they have re-formulated the cleanser as it contains ingredients such as aloe vera and glycerin.
It says it is:
– Paraben Free
– Soap Free
– Non Comedogenic
– Perfume Free
– Hypo-allergenic
I really like this cleanser because I have super sensitive skin. A lot of products makes my face red and irritated and then I start breaking out. This doesn’t.

This cleanser lives up to the seal of recognition given by the Canadian dermatology Association. However for very clog-prone skins like there’s a couple of rather problematic ingredients.
This is a cream cleanser, it’s white, and not really a gel per se. It has no scent, no colors. It does contain salicylic acid at a rather minimal percentage, and the pH is 5.0
I like this cleanser, but it when I rinse it from my face, there is a odd residue in the sink…is that on my skin too?
This cleanser has not cause itchiness, hives or irritation, I found myself with that rough, bumpy chin skin (yeah, you know what I am talking about) and *tightly* clogged pores on my nose that resist even professional extraction. For someone with finer pores, drier skin I think this cleanser would be great.
So I stopped using this for a few weeks, I was getting a “large pore” look in skin texture. My skin felt soft and hydrated, but it just didn’t look so great to me.
***UPDATE*** December 2014
I dried out my skin very badly using an inferior product and bad skin care practises that led to a chemical burn. What was it? Greek Yogurt masks. I kid you not.
My face was dry, red and it hurt. After a few days of just water and Impruv I got to a point where I could try a gentle cleanser again. Pond’s came to mind, but the new formula is just…gross. I had half a bottle of Marcelle Ultra gentle cleansing gel hanging around and decided what the hell, go for it. I really enjoy the feel of this cleanser on my skin and the way it behaves when I add water to the gel already on my face. I feel that I am actually emulsifying and removing oil and makeup from my skin. It removes mascara and eyeliner very well, I don’t wear much else so I cant speak to long wearing foundations.
With very gentle cleansing, gentle, physical exfoliation and barrier cream my skin seems better.
The “large pore” look and bumpy skin issue I described above is due to a sensitivity to salicylic acid liquid exfoliants. It seems to me chemical exfoliants really irritate my skin. This gel has a minimal amount of Sal. acid and I can feel it…sometimes this gel makes my skin a little warm and flushed.
When I gave up the chemical exfoliants I noticed a big difference. I use finely milled rice flour every other day or so.
I’ve since bought a new bottle the beginning of this month and it’s now the 15th of December. The weather here is rainy and above normal temps (we are used to dry, cold winters) yet I’ve not experienced any clogged pores yet. I will update in the new year
***UPDATE*** I still use this, it’s now 2017. I use this interchangeably with Cetaphil although I like this better.
