******** Edited September 9th 2016:
I have to rate this product down… the purging I was talking about in my ‘raving’ review below was actually a breakout. It isn’t pretty. The first few weeks were fine and I was really impressed but then it ‘hit me’ with breakout city (major clogged pores on forehead, small inflamed acne around my mouth, a few on my cheeks…), redness and dryness. Yes, I wrote that it wasn’t as dry as the other foaming cleansers I have tried… I have to take that back. It dried out my skin so bad and I didn’t change anything in my routine. It wasn’t that dry when I first started, but after a few more weeks it was ‘really’ drying, like it was absorbing everything on my face (I have combination skin). Now I have to deal with this horrible breakout…

FYI: I have been using this cleanser along with their mist (Face Food Mineral Mist), serum (Detox + Renew Serum) and moisturizer (Super Sensitive Skin Stuff).
I simply adore this cleanser! This fragrance-free foaming cleanser is very gentle on my skin. It contains active ingredients that helps my skin look smoother, brighter and less clogged. (Apple Cider Vinegar, Bamboo and Willow Bark)
I used to use foaming cleansers that were very drying on my skin, which led to red, dry, shiny, irritated skin and more acne too. I tried a bunch of them, drugstore and high end products, but they were either too drying or irritating. Even when they were well formulated and pH balanced. I think my skin is just too sensitive. I also tried some non-foaming cleansers, but they didn’t clean my face as well as the foaming type and I ended up with more clogged pores and acne as a result. I also had a breakout-reaction from a drugstore cleanser.
With this Face Foam it’s not drying at all and it cleans super well. I like that I don’t have to form a foam between my hands. I just need to pump out the foam and apply/massage onto my skin. I was surprised the first time I used it, it’s the perfect balance for my skin. No more tight dry red skin! It might just be a tad drying for winter though, but not as bad as my previous cleansers. I also haven’t experienced any bad reaction. I don’t wear makeup or thick zinc-based moisturizer/sunscreen so I can’t comment on how well this cleanser will perform.
At first, I felt a slight tingly sensation and saw some slight redness when I used this cleanser, but that was because my skin was already irritated (very dry/a little bit raw) from my previous skincare routine and also this cleanser contains active ingredients. After a few days of uses, I no longer had that problem. My skin feels great and look more even tone now.
I also notice that I don’t need to exfoliate my skin. This cleanser contains active ingredients (Apple Cider Vinegar and Willow Bark) that exfoliate gently. My clogged pores and acne were more noticeable after I used this cleanser. I also had a purging phase, small whiteheads/pimples, for a couple of weeks. It actually diminished them in a more gentle way. If you have thicker/non-sensitive skin, you might still need/want to exfoliate. Since this cleanser is not an exfoliant per se it wouldn’t be strong enough to clear deep clogged pores or acne for certain skin type, however for me, this is the best amount of exfoliation my skin needs to stay clear.
I always thought that I couldn’t tolerate salicylic acid (Willow Bark provides the benefits of salicylic acid), because I have tried a few BHA before and they would turn my skin red and super dry. Also causes my skin to breakout horribly (cystic acne). I took a chance with this cleanser and there was no problem at all. This cleanser definitely prevents acne while keeping my skin smoother and brighter. I don’t have chronic acne, more like random spots (Hormonal acne). Which is now practically nonexistent or really minimal thanks to this cleanser along with the Detox + Renew Serum, Face Food Mineral Mist and Super Sensitive Skin Stuff. Amazing products for acne-prone skin!
This cleanser would work best for sensitive, combination and oily skin type. If you have drier skin or/and if you can’t tolerate active ingredients I wouldn’t recommend this foaming cleanser. Also if you prefer harsher cleanser type, this is not for you since it’s very gentle on the skin.
It is a little expensive, 25 CAD for 150ml, but it contains all natural and good ingredients for the skin. Best of all, it works as claimed. I have never tried all natural skincare products before, but I’m glad I did. Compared to what I have tried so far this one is a winner for me. I will definitely repurchase. Dare I say HG? I will have to come back edit this review after a few more months of uses to decide. 🙂
