The full name is “Anti-pollution Cleansing milk with Gentian and Moringa for Combination or Oily Skin”. I had tried this around 10 years ago along with the various foaming cleansers (love) and Beauty Flash Balm (like). Thought I’d give it another try this week as it came free as a gift with purchase. Sadly its just as I remembered, it cleanses ok (doesn’t remove makeup), then makes my sensitive skin red, itchy and irritated for several days. Perhaps because it is so highly fragranced? Despite that I absolutely adore the relaxing creamy baby powder and violet type scent. It smells very vintage and luxurious. I wish it was available as a hand creme.

My favorite Korres 3 in 1 milk cleanser is no longer available, so was looking for a replacement. A Sephora SA recommended this one and gave me a sample. First, it’s not a “milk”, more a watery sort-of lotion, but more watery than anything. After using it, my face felt ok, but not moisturized like it does with the Korres. The next morning, after 1 use, I had 2 zits from this. Believe it’s around $28. Do not recommend.

I’ve actually come to like this product a lot.
The first thing that took me by surprise is the small amount of product that gets dispensed with each pump (I have the 400ml format) but you don’t need a massive amount in the end. 4-5 pumps will do.
The scent is a bit strong, kind of an old school white/yellow floral which tends to linger. I don’t mind it personally but can see people loathing it.
The way I use the product is the one recommended on the Clarins website; warm the milk into the palms, lightly pressing onto the skin, pat several times and swipe gently. The unusual thing is that as soon as you warm the product up it turns from cream to oil.
I prefer using a flannel to remove. The makeup has effectively been dissolved but there’s some kind of film remaining on the skin. If I repeat the process the film is still there but my Bioderma micellaire has no makeup residue to remove afterwards.
I tend to use it once and always follow with a foaming cleanser to feel my skin thoroughly cleansed. So to me this is a makeup removing oil in milk form and would never use it on its own or as a morning cleanser. It’s an effective product but after all I enjoy The Body Shop cleansing balm more as it’s just as effective but smells better, costs less, it’s more travel friendly and rinses easier. Won’t repurchase.

Since my skin has been drier due to Winter and retinoid use, I decided to try a milk cleanser. I was hoping my skin would become less dry. It did, but it also became more clogged, dull and irritated. The first few times I used this, I quite enjoyed it. Having used a boring gel cleanser previously, it felt quite indulgent to use an exuberant smelling cushioning milk cleanser. I have to mention, however, that it felt nice when rinsed off with a warm damp cloth. The way they recommend this is used is by taking it off with cotton wool pads or tissue off. I would not recommend this method considering this will likely leave a slime layer on the skin. Even when rinsed off with a damp cloth several times, it still left a little bit of a residue (nothing major, it was acceptable). When rinsed off with water it works just as well at cleansing, but not to remove make-up. I have not tried to remove a full face of make-up with this but it seemed to do the job with minimal make-up providing I was cleansing twice (applying the product twice) and using a separate eye make-up remover.
This cleanser can be used with or without the matching toner. I got both because they were in a set and it was cheaper that way. However, I would not recommend that anyone spends money on that toner (please see separate review). This cleanser works well without a toner, unless you want to tissue off and then go over with a toner to remove the excess of cleanser left behind. In that case, I would still not recommend the matching toner.
After using this for a few days am and pm (at pm I was double cleansing), I noticed my skin was dull, more congested and irritated on the cheeks. Now, I have started using adapalene not long ago, so of course my skin will be more sensitive. Perhaps this cleanser would be fine if my skin wasn’t going through a sensitive phase. However, I found I needed quite a lot in a just over a week I had used it up half the bottle, which makes this product poor value for money. Adding to that, the smell really started to get to me. It is just over the top flowers. Also when rinsed with water, the cleanser needs to be rinsed for a long time and as I mentioned previously, it often leaves a slight residue (which does not get better if the matching toner is used, since that leaves even more residue).
Overall this is an ok cleanser which is not worth the price. I will not buy again and I am not entirely sure if I’ll be able to use it up. It felt luxurious for a while, but the luxurious feeling gave way to a feeling of “spent all this money in the Clarins counter and my skin looks worse that before”.

I got this as part of a set and was my first Clarins purchase. I used this together with the toner. When i woke up, my skin had red patches and bumps. It was also itchy. I stopped using the products for a few days. I have initially thought that it was the toner that irritated my skin. So I decided to use this again without the toner. Next day, the red patches, bumps and itchiness were back. Was really disappointed and will definitely not recommend. This has prevented me to buy anything from Clarins after.

(I live in Sweden so please take to account that the ingredient-list might not be the same to your country! So my experience with this product might differ because of that. It is hard to find a good cleanser for sensitive combination/oily skin! From what I understand you should avoid most foaming-cleansers (Probably because the foaming-ingredient, which is usually an sls, is too harsh for the skin. But don’t quote me on this) This is the only milk I’ve found that actually caters towards other skin-types besides dry skins! I’m already on my third bottle since I have yet to find a better product. It really is gentle.
The formula: For you that is an ingredient-list-reader like me, some of the ingredients might bother you a little. But this product is worth a try anyway. We are no scientists and some ingredients can prove safe depending on how they are being used in the product! It does contain perfume and colorants (and alcohol far down the list) but I think they wont cause any harm since you wash them off.
Using the product: I take longer time to really circulate the cleanser around my face. And since it is virtually not drying at all I can take the time to do just that! It has a runny texture and rinses off well with water. I do not wear makeup, only non-waterresistant sunscreen, so I don’t need anymore than that to feel clean, but I suggest using a toner if you want to be on the safe side. Sometimes I do notice some left-over “dirt” when I use my toner with a cotton-pad (Probably because I rushed the cleansing-part) If you wear makeup you probably need another product to take off that first.
Packaging: I don’t like bottles where you have to squeeze the product out and when you let go of the grip, the bottle fills with air. I’m sure it’s fine and doesn’t do anything to the formula but it just bothers me.
Summary: This cleanser suits you who wants a truly gentle cleanser to take off dirt without being too emollient. I find that it is well worth the money since I’ve used cleansers under Clarins price-point that just aren’t up to this standard. Again, finding a truly gentle product for combi/oily skin that doesn’t cost a lot isn’t easy.

This is pretty expensive but for me, this is the only cleanser that is making some sort of result occur while not irritating or causing a reaction on my skin. its strange though, because it says it is for combination/oily skin but i think sometimes it leaves a greasy feel, making my skin feel oily anyway.
it smells really fresh and is said it be very natural, so after a few horrible experiences with chemically cleansers, that is a positive.
Im definitely still on the look out because for the price of this, i want better results.

THIS STUFF IS MY SAVIOR!!!
I’very been dealing with acne for the past six years, and everything I have tried U0has not worked to help cleanse and protect my skin like this amazing product. For the past 4 month paired together with the alcohol-free iris toner this face wash has pretty much reduced my acne to a very minute amount. My skin is never oily during the day, even in the middle of an Australian summer. You can see a DRAMATIC difference even after the first wash. My skin is now happy, healthy and radiant and freaking amazing. No more anxiety over a pimple plagued face. And it meals so onto good!

My favourite cleanser!! I wear a full face of makeup most days of the week, including foundation, and love the clean feeling that this cleanser gives!
I have used it for about 4 years now and usually purchase on the Clarins website as they often stock the packs which include a full size cleanser and toner, with a makeup bag and one deluxe sample, for the price of a cleanser alone.
This can be rinsed or tissued off – I prefer to rinse as it makes my skin feel cleaner. I highly recommend the Clarins cleansing method as instructed on their website as it really does make a difference to the skin, and mine always looks glowing and healthy post cleanse.

When I first started using the Cleansing Milk, I hated it. Didn’t remove any makeup, didn’t seem to really do anything. Only thing it seemed to have going for it was that I liked the scent. Hated it enough to take it back to the Clarins counter and return.
The SA had no issues with doing a return, but she asked me how I was using it – and I replied that I rubbed a little in and rinsed off. She told me that I really needed to do the Clarins method, which is basically to warm it up in your hands, then place your hands over all the areas of your face, hold for a few seconds, and lift, creating a gentle “suction”. I didn’t really believe her but I decided to give it one more chance since I really liked the fragrance.
To my surprise, the Clarins method actually works pretty well for me! I wear a full face most days of the week, and nearly all comes right off…I do have to clean up a little eye MU residue and toner sometimes gets trace amounts of foundation but I don’t really mind that.
My favorite thing about this cleanser is that it doesn’t make my skin feel irritated or dry after cleansing. Most other cleansers, even those for sensitive skin, make my face feel tight and dry afterward. As I mentioned earlier, I also enjoy the fragrance. Some may find it a bit too perfumed for their liking, but it doesn’t seem to linger long after cleansing.
Would I buy it again? I would! I will admit to getting bored easily and switching MU and skincare frequently but I definitely would keep this cleanser in the rotation!
