A joy to rediscover this – I used it as a teenager.
Easily wipes away city grime and refreshes. I usually follow with micellar water or lavender water, or sometimes just a splash of warm water.
I’ve been using for a few months, and my skin is in excellent condition – lasts for ages, still only part way through the bottle,
Not as widely available as it used to be, but I’ve stocked up with some more in the cupboard.

This is worth considering as it is an excellent skin cleanser at a very reasonable price. It is the best I have ever tried and I have tried more cleansers than I care to remember! I have found this very gentle on my rosacea prone skin. Try it yourself and see.

If I had reviewed this 10 years ago, I would have given it 1 star. As a teenager, my parents had raved about how both of their grandmothers had used Anne French and had fantastic skin – maybe failing to realise that it didn’t suit my acne-prone, sensitive skin. When I used it at around the age of 15 it left my skin red-raw, oily and even spottier (I had very, VERY bad acne).
Now the age of 26, I have given it a second chance after trying different micellar waters, sulphur soaps and many other things – I still have acne prone, sensitive skin, but I thought I would give Anne French another shot anyway (mainly because I was desperate).
The bottle size is very generous and I personally like the retro design – I know others have complained about it but it doesn’t bother me in the slightest. I like the fact the liquid is very thin, like actual milk, and the smell is a wonderful floral, old fashioned smell. Although I have sensitive skin, fragrances don’t usually seem to aggravate it and this is no exception.
I apply it using a cotton pad each morning (just a little) and in the evening after I have rubbed off my eye makeup with Almond Oil. It does such a wonderful job of taking off all of my makeup – I don’t wear a lot of face makeup, just Lily Lolo mineral foundation, but I’ve never used a product that removed so much makeup and dirt with little effort! I don’t like to rub my skin too much and you don’t have to with this, providing you use enough of the product. Afterwards my skin is left clean feeling, with no residue, and it feel moisturised, which is ideal as I use Benzoyl Peroxide for my spots which dries your skin out terribly. It does not dry the skin out at all but it doesn’t feel greasy or heavy either.
I have used this for two months straight so I feel confident it’s a fab product that I would recommend if you have skin like mine – it has not once broken me out. That is very rare for me. Try it!

Love this cleansing milk! I use it as my makeup remover on a cotton pad and it takes it off so easily and quickly! It just glides iff with no effort! The smell is nice also! Inexpensive, I really hope Boots continue to stock it! Definitely the best cleanser I’ve come across in a while and Ive gone through a lot!

Amazing product. Only problem is I’m a sucker for an expensive looking jar/pot/tube and this plastic monstrosity gets hidden away! But that’s just me. The cleanser itself is just amazing for the price and I’ve tried them all, EL, clarins, Clinique, dermalogica and this one is the best in my opinion. I use with cotton wool then rinse off with warm cloth then follow with toner, EL serum and night cream. Give it a go. You may be surprised

In short, this is an incredible cleanser. My mum used this in the 70s as she had extremely sensitive, acne-prone skin, and was unable to use anything else. She always spoke so highly of it, and lamented the fact that she could no longer find it in the shops. When I finally saw it in Boots, I bought a bottle for each of us, and I’ve been hooked ever since.
I have tried many expensive cleansers from brands such as Estee Lauder, Clinique, Clarins, Chanel, and Olay, but none of them have been as effective as Anne French Milk. It literally removes every scrap of makeup and dirt. After removing my makeup with a wipe, I use a bit of the milk, and am always surprised at how much there is left on the cotton pad. Even on days when I don’t wear makeup, this still seems to remove a whole day’s residue from my face.
For £4 I really don’t see how you could go wrong with it.

The smell of this product brings me right back to being about seventeen. Apart from wallowing in nostalgia, I find it an excellent, no-fuss cleanser: I pour a little onto cotton pads and wipe fairly firmly across the skin; it removes every scrap of makeup and grime. I then usually rinse with water. It leaves the skin soft and thoroughly cleansed. One of the best cleansers I’ve ever used, and fantastic value for money.

Been using this for roughly 4 years. It’s a great cleanser and such great value for money (around £4?) and it lasts about 5 months even when using everyday. I use it at night even if I haven’t worn any makeup and you will still see dirt on the cotton wool! I would be so upset if they ever discontinue it! And I love the smell – very fresh and clean. Also, for my dry skin it’s good as it’s slightly moisturising.

I swear by Anne French! I remember when I was about 7 my mother had been in the garden all day and when she came in before her bath she cleansed her skin with Anne French and and the cotton pads were black! It was amazing it literally took every scrap of dirt that you couldn’t see off her face! I haven’t used it since I was 7 but I have since I was a teenager when I became skin conscience. I occasionally suffer from acne but never have any problems when I use this stuff! I love it so much and it lasts a good while! I tend to use it in the morning with Ponds cold cream and at night before moisturizing as I hate washing my face with water. I find this really helps to cleanse my skin and leaves it smelling lovely 🙂
