I hate to do my brows. I’ve probably got twenty products–pencils, pomade, powders, markers–in my stash, but I’m not fully satisfied with any of them. I think Built Brows may be the answer. You may remember Rimmel’s “Shake-A-Brow” product–powder in a little component you shook before applying with a thin sponge applicator. It’s not bad, but Smith & Cult has taken it up a level. The product comes in a small tube with a twist-off top that you shake before applying with a similar thin sponge applicator on a wand, but this formula is much better–less fallout, better shades, and great wear. I purchased Medium Cool Brown because no one carries it near where I live, and in the online swatches, it looked lighter than Cool Taupe. It’s a little dark, but workable. Not expecting much but in a rush, I shook the container, pulled out the wand, tapped it over a paper towel (there was very little fallout), and began to apply it. Of course, the most powder will land where you start to apply it and I started at the inner part of the brow, but no matter. I was able to smooth it out with the applicator and proceeded. In less than two minutes I had the best brows I’ve ever had (despite the shade being a tiny bit dark, yet somehow it still looked natural). I evened it all out with a spoolie (it takes down the density and evens out mistakes very effectively, although I suspect that I’ll become more skilled with the applicator with continued use), tapped over them with a bit of LM Translucent powder to lighten the color, and brushed over with BeneFit BROWtones in Light/Medium (I love it). Amazing result. This is part of S&C’s newly expanded line. They call it a powder-to-cream formula (which I suppose it is) and claim that it lasts throughout the day (it does–it was difficult to get a swatch off my hand without micellar water). My perfect brows (applied in under two minutes!) lasted all day in 100+ degree weather–no smudging, running, or smearing, even though I was sweating and my sunglasses were rubbing against my brows a bit. I’m shocked. I really did not expect to get perfectly shaped, full-looking brows that last all day from this product. That being said, it is $25 for .03 oz, although a little goes a long, long way, and the convenience makes it worth the price for me. I will repurchase, although I’ll try Cool Taupe next time (and hope that a B&M store near me starts carrying it before I need to repurchase).
