A christmasy ginger cake and butter scent. It’s supposed to also have ylang ylang and clove oil but I couldn’t smell any, and by now, you already know how the rest of the review goes. “I don’t know what’s happening with my 2018 purchases of bath bombs but they barely have a scent any more”. I’m actually wondering whether the fact I live in a small town means the local lush store has poor product turnover and I really am getting old batches of everything. That would actually mean there’s hope in buying them online and getting ones with the usual scent intensity. If lush has just overall changed the formula into a barely scented one than that’s just tragic.
Bloggers have recommended cutting this bath bomb as it is very large, but i have been unable to do that with any bomb lately (due to weak fragrance again).
This bath bomb looks like cake, and the center is very soft and mushy like cookie dough. It doesnt melt right away. I ran it across my skin like a scrub and that at least helped me smell it. Really like the ginger in this. Unfortunately I also smelled something horrible when it was almost done dissolving, but thank god it didn’t linger. It turns the bath a milky, buttery shade and consistentcy.
In fairness, it was easier to smell this than lord of misrule, but still, who wants to strain and cup bathwater in their hands and dunk their face into it and hover on the water surface with their nose to get a whiff of the scent?? Not me.
Lush baths used to have a magical scent that hovered above the bath and filled the bathroom and the next day when you got home from work you could still smell it from the entrance and the bathroom smelled amazing for days after. I would settle for less, but not for this little. Cheap supermarket buys are way above any bath bomb I bought at lush the past few months.
Again, might just be something to do with the local store but I’m not buying any more. I would recommend to those who, if they exist, are still getting normally fragranced lush products. With appropriate fragrance strength, this would be a very cozy winter bath bomb.
Super curious if my remaining three bombs will smell more but don’t want to get my hopes high. Funny though, my face mask from lush smells intense and divine. Would love to know whether this is happening to others.
