Why is it that every time I get an email from MakeupAlley about the best of a certain category, the product I’m interested in has been discontinued? This primer is not listed on the Chanel website and is “not available” at Nordstrom’s site. Unless it’s changed its name to “Light Creator Brightening Makeup Base SPF 40,” it doesn’t exist anymore.

I was recommended this makeup base to use under my usual Perfection Lumiere Velvet foundation, but for some reason, my skin became extremely irritated and felt as if I put a very strong astringent right on my skin (used my usual serum/moisturizer!). My face reacted with a bad episode of rosacea for a whole week, and my laugh lines were a bit scarred. I had to use La Mer’s The Concentrate to get my complexion back to normal again. This all being said, I do have combination sensitive skin that can be reactive to a lot of primers/makeup bases, but I love Chanel and have religiously used their foundation for years. Not sure what was wrong with my bottle, but I ended up using it on my legs instead of my face :-/
The search for a 25+ spf makeup base continues… sigh.

this stuff is amazing. i have REALLY sensitive, acne-prone skin, and am constantly on the lookout for products that won’t break me out or give me a rash. i’ve been using this for several months without incident.
i love that it has spf, and i use it first as a base/sunscreen all over my face, and then mix a bit with the foundation/bb cream i use under my eyes. it can be dabbed over your foundation as a highlighter, and gives a luminous look.
it’s not sparkly, or dewy, or shiny, but somehow it makes things look..better. it’s very subtly pinkish white (more just very sheer white), and you will likely need to wear tinted moisturizer or powder over it unless you’re super pale. (i’m nc15-20) it helps my foundation last better, and doesn’t emphasize flakiness. (i am both oil and flaky)
yes, it’s pricey, but when EVERYTHING breaks you out, it feels like a minor miracle to find something that doesn’t. i’ve already run out and repurchased after 3-4 months, because i use it every day.

Amazing! Seriously. I have been on an endless search for products that dont add 10 years to my face. I’m 36 and my old products have become increasingly unflattering as they settled into fine lines and wrinkles. I also have some unevenness and redness with an occasional breakout still unfortunately. I purchased this in shade rosee. It is magic in a bottle! I’m a huge fan of Mac fix plus for applying and blending all of my liquid products. I spray it on my brush and then blend a small amount of the base all over. My complexion was even, brighter, and looked healthier immediately. I even add a drop to my foundation and it just adds a healthy glow. No settling into fine lines! I seriously looked years younger. 2 people commented on how ‘natural’ my makeup looked. This is WELL worth the money. HUGE FAN.

Been using la Roche posay because it has a matte finish. But this one is even better with matte finish and spreads easier than la Roche.

This product is awesome!! I use it as a highlighter on the bridge of the nose and on the upper cheekbones. It literally brightens anywhere that you want high-lighted! It applies so easily and is so easy to blend. It feels wonderful and looks beautiful. It’s Chanel…need I say more!!!!

I love this chanel makeup base and use it all the time. I will also use it without foundation it really helps to hide little imperfections in your skin and also gives your skin a natural glow. It makes my foundation stay on longer and has an spf 30. It is my holy grill for makeup bases.
When you first put it on it has a very slight color but within a couple of minutes it is gone and all you’ll see is luminosity and a glow. I highly recommend this makeup base.

This is one of the products I’ll make sure my makeup bag will ALWAYS have. I am a full convert to this base and I don’t think I’ll ever use another base like it. It really gives a glowing-from-within look when you apply it then put on a BB cream or foundation AND it doesn’t give a cakey look. It’s non-comedogenic and doesn’t give off an oily look in the middle of the day. I love love LOVE it!

I just got this product yesterday, and I already love it! The lady at the Chanel counter applied it on my under eye area yesterday, followed by some concealer and it wore really well throughout the day. I put on the same thing today myself and got equally good results.
My concealer did not sink into my wrinkles, I mean fine lines, at all. It also really brightened the area. I love it! And knowing it has SPF to protect my skin makes me feel great, too!

I’m jumping on the bandwagon with the previous reviewers, and also thank them for their thoughts on this product. I first saw it on Café Makeup, and though it sounded like a winner for my somewhat pasty, blotchy complexion, so I took the plunge. Yup, this is some great stuff. I apply it over my usual Vitamin C serum topped by a light moisturizer (I tried the product without moisturizer underneath, and it did not work–it was difficult to apply and sank into my pores), and a very small amount is enough to cover my whole face–slightly less than dime-sized. It’s a somewhat watery (but not overly so) light pink fluid that’s easy to apply smoothly. I let it sit for a few minutes before I apply my foundation (usually Edward Bess Ultra Dewy Complexion Perfector). It evens my skin out a bit and gives a lovely, lit-from-within glow (although it is not shimmery) that is not pink, just pretty. It wears well all day and removes easily. The bottle is compact in classic Chanel style, and it’s easy to really shake it up prior to application, which is essential because of the sunscreen (broad-spectrum SPF 30!). It is expensive, but I use such a tiny amount that it’s going to go a long way. I wouldn’t recommend this for oily skins as it is somewhat moisturizing, and younger skins probably don’t need it because you have your own glow, but if you’re older and feeling like your makeup needs a little something extra, try this. You’ll be pleased. I would repurchase.
