Like other MUA reviewers, I experienced slight stinging and irritation the first time I used this eye cream. It wasn’t so uncomfortable that my eyes watered or teared, but I was definitely thinking of returning it. The next two days I decided to try it again a few times before I headed back to sephora to find something else. Surprisingly after the first time, this cream didnt irritate my eyes anymore, I think my skin got used to it. Skin irritation aside, this is a fantastic eye cream. It’s luxuriously rich and deeply hydrating. A tiny drop on the tip of your fingers will cover your entire eye. This eye cream plumps up the skin around your eye area restoring elasticity and suppleness. It doesn’t firm your skin, but I wasn’t really looking for that. My eyes get so dry this time of year, hydration is primarily what I’m looking for, and the spf is also really great. If this cream doesn’t irritate your skin, then it’s an amazing eye cream.

Ole’s SPF eye cream is relatively moisturizing and keeps the eye area line free most of the day with a brightening effect from the Vitamin C. The glass jar exposes the product to light and air (plus bacteria from your fingers) which is terrible for product life and efficacy. Truth be told (ha), the product packaging needs a revamp, as does all the other products from his Truth line. Also, the SPF component is chemical and widely debated as the cancer causing ingredient we’re supposed to shy away from in sunscreen. The product is also pricey for the amount you actually receive. I’ve been using Ole’s SPF eye since the day it arrived at Sephora and have been on the hunt for a new, better packaged SPF eye cream to buy next once I finish my current jar.

I bought this eye cream solely for a sunscreen to use under the eyes. We all know that any SPF meant the face can sting like a ****! When it gets into the eyes. I wasn’t expecting any mircules just to protect the skin near my eyes. SPF 15 is a bit low but it’s better then nothing. This eye cream is rich; doesn’t sting even if it gets into my sensitive contact wearing eyes, and it only takes a pin size for each eye. It doesn’t smudge my eye make up either. If you’re looking for a eye cream that’s going to perform then it’s not for you but it’s great for a day eye cream to protect the delicate skin around the eyes!

I used this eye cream exactly once after purchasing the full size jar, and my eyes burned so badly for hours afterward that they actually watered to the point of tears running down my face. I didn’t even bother trying to put drops in because there was just no point; my eyes were already flushing themselves! The only new product I used had been this eye cream, in hopes of boosting the SPF I get from wearing large sunglasses and makeup with sunscreen. I sampled this product a couple of years ago and had no problems, so I suspect they may have changed the formula since then. Very disappointing. We need more eye creams with SPF…just not the sunscreen they used in this one.

Thick, hard to spread, too much tug. Not good for under eye. It left a bit of shine, kind of sat on my skin. Kind a oily, one would think the opposite since it was so thick. Oh well.

I found this product to be ok. I like that it has SPF and that’s about all I was impressed with. It was moisturizing but left my eyes kind of oily and I would prefer that the packaging not require you to put your fingers in the product.

This product did reduce the puffyness around my eyes and made them look better.
However, this product is super expensive and I feel like I am not getting good enough results for me to spend that kind of money on this product.
It’s the usual consistency for eye creams… as in, heavy and leaves a white layer until it absorbs down.

How I wish they’d bring back my beloved Clarins eye cream with SPF. It was pulled from the market fairly recently in Canada – something to do with its SPF claims not being proven sufficiently. Had I known this was coming, I’d have bought another tube. Sadly, I’m almost out of it now and I’m looking for something to replace it, which brought me to Ole Henriksen.
I got a sample from Sephora and I’m trying it out. I wore it today to a 2 hour yoga “medley” class and my eyes were stinging. Not sure if it was this cream causing the problem or just sweat getting into my eyes but this rarely or maybe even never happened with Clarins. The Ole cream is much thicker, which is nice since the Clarins one felt almost more like a mattifying primer but my solution for that was to use another eye cream underneath it if I felt my eyes needed more hydration. I need to see how Total Truth functions under makeup/concealer which I wear during the week and if products apply well over top or if they smear or crease. The Clarins product has SPF30, while Ole is only SPF15. And to my recollection, the Ole cream is pricier for less protection. I do like the jar over the Clarins tube (I’ve cut my almost empty one open to get every last bit of product). But I want my Clarins back!!!
I do need to try this product a bit more to see if the stinging eye thing was just a fluke. I’m tempted as anything to buy this just to get the sun protection for my eye area but in all honesty, I JUST WANT MY CLARINS SUN WRINKLE CONTROL EYE CREAM BACK!!! But I will purchase Total Truth if I can’t find another suitable eye cream with sun protection in it (I might give Shiseido a try).
EDIT: Well, I am glad I have a sample of this because, as much as I want a day-time eye cream with SPF, THIS ONE is NOT IT. I’ve worn this every day this week. And every day, my eye shadow has creased and my liners (Sephora’s waterproof Contour Pencils or GOSH Velvet liner pencils) have transferred to my crease and smeared under my eyes. Even Maybelline Colour Tattoo (which never budges on me) and shadows applied over UDPP have creased. This has never happened to me ever before with any eye cream. And because of the SPF, this is meant to be a day eye cream rather than one you’d just use at night instead….. If you don’t wear eye makeup, this would be a fine eye cream but if you wear even liner, this eye cream won’t work well in the day. And I won’t use it as a night cream – it has SPF and I don’t think it’s wise to use something with SPF overnight (the fewer chemicals I can put on my skin generally, the better and SPF on the eye area at night seems a very unwise idea).
