Absolutely THE BEST, at least for me! Nothing comes even close and I’ve tried many different mattifying products as I have a really oily skin. I’ve been using this for a decade now and I simply can’t imagine not having it. I mix it with a dollop of Estee Lauder DW foundation and apply with a sponge over moisturized skin. Most days my face stays matte for at least 6 hours and even then it gets just slightly oily in the t-zone. If I use just the foundation, I’m all shiny within an hour. At weekends I often use it on its own and my skin looks fresh for 8+ hours. I know from other reviews that for some people it doesn’t work but if you have oily skin, give it a try. And if it doesn’t seem to work, perhaps it’s your moisturizer or whatever you apply on your skin before OC Eight.

This is one of my HG products. I would be completely lost, drowning in a pool of my own sebum if this product did not exist.
OC8 is by far the best oil control product I have ever tried and boy have I tried many. I have extremely oily skin, and when I say extremely, I mean my face gets oily within 30 minutes of cleansing and within an hour you could fry and egg on my face.
I have been on a low dose Accutane regimen to control excess oil production and my skin STILL gets oily to the point where my make-up will begin to slide off my face at the 2 hour mark.
OC8 has allowed me to wear lighter make-up, if I use OC8 on top of my moisturiser followed by Estee Lauder Double Wear Light my make-up will look flawless for a good 8 hours, a little oil will begin to come through but it will look dewy and nice as opposed to pizza face.
The scent used to really put me off, I used to hate putting it on my face but I have grown accustomed to it and I don’t even notice it anymore.
It causes issues with some make-up, in particular mineral foundation, it sometimes makes it come out patchy. I have remedied this situation by layering Smashbox Photofinish Primer on top of OC8 (excessive, I know) and it works a treat!
Highly recommend this product to anyone who suffers from an oily complexion.

Oily Skin
My skin is a challenge–oily in the t-zone and dry on the cheeks. I’ve sampled several of the most highly rated mattifiers, and so far OC8 is my favorite to inhibit oilyness on the nose and forehead. It does not keep me matte for 8 hours. However, it does keep me matte-to-glowy for 3-4 hours (a feat since I normally start to get shiny within 30 minutes), and after blotting, the oil is slow to resurface.
OC8 is a colorless translucent gel that spreads easily on skin. It has a natural fragrance-free scent which is earthy and slightly glue-like–not offensive at all, and it dissipates when dry. It can be used over sunscreen without foundation, so is great for anybody (like me) who likes to go au naturel. It is also formulated to work under foundation. I did not notice a white cast as stated in the expert review on Beautypedia, but I have fair skin.
My other two favorites are Becca Ever-Matte Poreless Priming Perfector and Paula’s Choice Shine Stopper. The Becca dries very quickly, but can be temperamental, resulting in the product lifting and looking dry/patchy. The Paula’s Choice is gentle and very easy to apply, but takes a really long time to set. OC8 is the happy medium with ease of use, fairly quick dry time and a nice finish. Bottom line, this is the best mattifier I’ve used.

I have an extremely oily T-zone area, and I mean extremely. I realise that there is no primer created that can contain the oil that my skin produces. This product gives my makeup a bit more staying power, and lasts longer than other primers I have tried. The biggest plus for me is that it stops my makeup moving around on my face and stops it from going patchy, so my foundation wears off evenly if I put this on. I had almost given up on wearing foundation before I used this product.
It controls my oil for about 2 hours, no where near 8, but I am an extreme case.
I will be buying again once I run out, and have been using it for about a month now.

This gel is awesome! It doesn’t last a full 8 hours but it is pretty close to that! The scent goes away after it dries and doesn’t smell that bad to begin with. I have terrible oily skin and I needed to stop breaking out. My mom bought it from the dermatologist for $43 and let me try it out. After using this stuff for only a few days I stopped having daily breakouts and my skin started to clear up. On the first day I used it, we went hiking and I sweated a ton but I did not look greasy at ALL. I thought : this is amazing! So I went on Amazon and found it for $27 and ordered it. I would totally recommend this to a friend.

I bought this product off Amazon for $25 a tube for 1.6 oz of product. I was really excited to try this product because of the positive reviews I read on Amazon. I have excessive oily skin that usually gets shiny before I even leave the house in the morning. So I can safely say that I have oily skin. I usually have to blot several times a day to look somewhat decent and presentable. I’ve tried tons and tons of mattifiers and oil controlling product but have yet to find anything that seemed to make a noticeable difference. This is a white gel product with a thick consistency. I tend to use more on the areas that get oily faster such as nose and chin area. This product does hold up really well for at least 6 hours for me which is pretty insane! The only down fall is that this product breaks me out. Everytime I use it, I always get a cystic breakout. sigh…. I have yet to throw this product out and still use it when I go out for special events. For everyday oil control, Im still sticking to my trusty blotting sheet until they come up with a cure for this. Please, if anyone has any suggestions, please mesg me!

The most important beauty product I own. I look like a grease slick moments after washing my face on the reg, but if I apply this I get 6-8 perfectly matte hours depending on the weather (and what foundation I use on top of it) Just amazing, amazing, amazing. If you have medium large pores and are sick of looking dewy all the damn time, I was getting filmed under hot lights dancing around with sweaty hair and my face still looked like it was made out of suede with this stuff on. WELL worth the price. I do keep worrying that its slightly less effective since they changed to the new packaging although that could be paranoia, but even with the new packaging & a greasy foundation on top I get a solid 5 glow free hours.

As a person with oily/acne prone skin I am always on the look out for something to mattify my skin without making my skin look dry.
I always apply a tiny amount of this product after my routine in the morning, which is after all moisturisers/sunscreens but before makeup (leaving a few minutes for it to sink in before MU application).
It dries matte on my skin without making me look dry or without any tight feeling. With or without applying my mineral foundation I find I am less oily throughout the whole day, however, I find it doesn’t last the full eight hours on me but it is pretty close and nothing a quick tpuch up doesn’t fix.
If you want you can also apply this product ontop of makeup.
I find this product a great primer and I am about to purchase my second tube, wouldn’t be without it.
I like the packaging, a simple white (toothpaste) tube. Product is easy to get out even at the end.

I had high hopes this mattifier that boasted 8 hour oil-absorbing properties would be my silver bullet. Of course, it was too good to be true. OC Eight performs as well as all the other mattifiers in my arsenal, 4 hours on a not so hot and humid day, 2 if its nasty out, but nothing near 8 hours. Its also very expensive at $39. Alas, my inner, oily werewolf still rules.
