I didnt even finish the deluxe sample that I had when I knew I needed to go ahead and order the full size. I have curly, short, black hair and I was convinced that this one would leave a white cast on my hair. It was my first adventure into dry shampoo as a WOC but I’m glad I gave this a spin. It definitely does a great job at adding much appreciated volume to my hair that normally falls flat in the summer due to humidity and it gives my curls a lovely shine to it. And leaves my hair feeling a smidge clean. So when my curls fall flat I reach for this because it definitely perks them right up.Definitely worthy of a re-purchase.

I still prefer my tried-and-true Klorane Dry Shampoo with Oat Milk, but Death Valley Dry Shampoo has a lot of positive traits.
PROS:
1) It’s invisible, so if you struggle with blending or brushing in dry shampoo that has a whitish cast, you may prefer this type of spray.
2) Makes the hair fluffy and separated, giving you a more voluminous look.
3) Pleasant scent that isn’t heavy or cloying. The fragrance is called “Rosy Eyed,” with notes of Bergamot, Wild Fig, Cyclamen, Lotus Flower, Cedarwood, Tonka Beans
4) Temporarily refreshing on the scalp.
5) Vegan and cruelty free.
6) Cute aerosol can – R+Co has attractive packaging. Comes in a travel size.
CONS:
1) The cost of the travel size is $17 for 1.6 ounces. The full size is $30 for 6.3 ounces. I can find a 6.7 ounce can of Batiste Dry Shampoo at CVS for six bucks.
2) Contains alcohol which can be drying on damaged hair.
3) It’s so lightweight that you might feel like it’s not doing enough, if you are used to a more substantial dry shampoo with a little grit. Klorane Dry Shampoo with Oat Milk gives me more texture and oil control.
However, Death Valley is a light and airy dry shampoo without white residue. It doesn’t weigh down the hair or make it look dusty. A good option if you don’t mind the high price.
Ingredients:
Butane, Propane, SD Alcohol 40-B (Alcohol Denat.), Aluminum Starch Octenylsuccinate, Silica, Cyclomethicone, Tocopherol, Hydrolyzed Rice Protein, Aminopropyl Phenyl Trimethicone, Panthenol, Benzophenone-4, Parfum/Fragrance, Alpha-Isomethyl Ionone, Citronellol, Geraniol, Hydroxycitronellal, Limonene

This product makes your hair alive again between shampoos. I love the smell and the way it makes my hair feel. Pretty pricey ($29), but I’ve only used the trial size, so perhaps it will last longer than I might expect. In any case, I would definitely buy again!

I have repurchased Death Valley many times, as it’s now become a staple for my fine hair. I mainly use it to give my hair some texture and volume (it works much better than Oribe’s Texturizing Spray, which seemed to do nothing) but it’s good as a dry shampoo too – I can get an extra day or 2 out of unwashed hair with Death Valley. It also leaves no residue on my dark hair and smells amazing. Will definitely continue to purchase!

I have short, artsy hair. I never thought that I would use a dry shampoo. After a night of sleep my hair is CRAZY. I usually need a shower to tame my hair. Why not give this a try? WOW! If you want sexy, tousled texture in your hair… Death Valley is for You!!!

This is the ONLY dry shampoo that will actually show up clear on my dark (level 4) hair. I have tried hundreds of dry shampoos, from super expensive to drug store brands, and they all leave the white powdery residue in my hair. This one is completely invisible, smells delicious, and gets the yucky grease out of my hair. It does give my hair a little volume, but not much; I use Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray for volume in combination with this. I just got into R+Co products and I am IN LOVE.

Best dry shampoo ever. Smells great, works like a charm and leaves no grease, oil, or white reside behind

This product works well as a dry shampoo…. but so does every other dry shampoo that I have tried. I am trying to avoid purchasing dry shampoos that come in an aerosol can for the simple fact that I do not want to spray flammable materials onto my head. That being said, this dry shampoo is not superior to Batiste’s dry shampoos, which come at a much more affordable price point. Additionally, the scent leaves something to be desired. I am lucky that I received a deluxe sample of this in my Birchbox to try, but I would not repurchase.
