This is my review for Violet Voss Taupe Notch. I got this palette on a whim. It just looks so pretty I couldn’t resist it. I totally don’t need any more neutrals or browns at all.
This is a great palette. The colors are soft feeling and nicely pigmented. There are a great selection of colors to choose from too. Can achieve many many looks with it. I actually used it to do my very first cut crease look. Which I totally loved.
In comparison to some other brands and palettes there is some value since there are so many shades and the pan size seems to be decent.
If your in the market for a really nice neutral palette I’d say give it a try.
Overall I’m very very happy with this purchase.

With all the shadows in this palette, it is not likely I will use it up. It is a BIG palette, which takes it out of the running for travel. The selection is lovely, and you could no many looks with this palette. The problem for me is that I NEVER use it. I think that the size is the problem for me. The product is a very nicely formulated eyeshadow that are richly pigmented and blend well. It is pricey at $45.00. In a sea of warm palettes it is refreshing to be able to find a cool toned palette, and I like the combination of shimmers and mattes, as I use both.

This is a very interesting palette comprised of grays, taupes, whites, and blacks. Violet Voss is new to Sephora and their Taupe Notch Palette looked different from most of the other palettes that I own. The one thing that kind of bothered me was the fact that instead of saying ‘made in China’ they labeled it ‘made in PRC,’ which in my opinion is in a way trying to slightly deceive people of the fact that the palette is made in China.
The main reason people need to know where their makeup products are manufactured is so that you are aware of the higher possibility of contaminants (especially products made in China). I highly recommend against using shadows made in china on any other areas other than the eyes. Definitely DO NOT use this on the lips at all. I’ve read some reviews of people using this on top of lip balms. With this being manufactured over seas, especially China, there COULD be (this doesn’t mean that there is) numerous contaminants in the product that even Violet Voss isn’t aware of. I’ll get off that topic now but I just think it is very important to be aware of what you are using and where it originates from.
The shadows are pretty decent and most are pretty pigmented. The mattes are a little more crumbly and less pigmented than the shimmery colors are. The shadows are very buildable and you will definitely want to use a primer with these eyeshadows otherwise by the end of the day you will be left with a lot of creases. This is not an issue to me because I wear a primer with all my shadows, but this does crease more than most without a primer. The packaging is a little cheap to me and not something that I’d prefer to travel with. Overall, this is a decent but average palette. My review and swatches are here: U
