As usual for me I discovered this brand during a Hautelook event. Known more for her cat eye stencils than lipstick I was hesitant to try this matte lipstick. As there are numerous other great brands out there I figured this brand would be no better or worse.
Pros:
All US made .
Paraben and Talc free.
Loooong wearing, extremely matte.
Color range limited to wearable pigments.
Lovely email customer service
Cons:
Lip skin must be pristine and free of any flakes, dryness or other surface issue prior to application.
Impossible to find visual swatches against different skin colors online.
Online only.
Bizarre chemical scent (thankfully this dissipates quickly).
Requires makeup remover to take off. Yes, it’s that long wearing.
Limited shade selection. If your wanting blue lipstick this is not the brand for you.
I purchased :
Respect: True vampy warm burgundy.
Ruby Slipper: True warm burgundy/cherry with matte shimmer finish.
Charmed: approachable dusty mauve pink
Nicety
Player
I have not worn either Nicety or Player as of yet but in the tube both appear warm and neutral looking.
My overall opinion of these is positive. They dry quickly and are impervious to movement or smudging.
My biggest peeve is they all have a very off putting scent that initially had me gagging. This does not linger but would be great if it never was there.
If you can buy the duo’s I suggest you go that route first. Respect/Ruby Slipper are colors that would flatter dark complexions or vamp up porcelain ones.
