I have bought Tyler candles off and on for many years. I think most are under priced and as good as many that are far more expensive. I read the reviews below and noticed that some said they burned dirty. Not now they don’t. They put the comparable in price, Bath and Body Works candles to shame. BBW candles lately have been going down hill in my opinion. I do like the Eucalyptus Stress Relief, it smells like a spa, but that is the only one I consistently keep on hand. I feel the same about Yankee candles. Have yet to find a Yankee candle I love & they burn horribly. Tyler candles to me are high end candles at a BBW & Yankee price bracket.
I think possibly the reason they don’t get the love they deserve is because they aren’t readily available in stores. However, you can contact them on facebook or the website & they will tell you what shops carry them in your area. If there are none, you can order online at candlestomydoor or lampstand.
I buy the large 22 oz, 11 oz. and votives. Their website gives excellent descriptions of all of the scents. Many of their scents are very sophisticated and smell like fine fragrances to me. Also their foody ones are very nice, especially sugar cookie and eggnog. The throw varies. I have yet to try a dud that had no throw, but I have not tried every single one of them. Sometimes I think throw can be too much, overwhelming. I don’t appreciate candles that are so strong that after 30 minutes I can’t take it anymore and want to put it out like BBW Lilac for example. I love lilac but I do not love it when it is overwhelming and headache inducing.
Diva smells exactly like Angel. If you hate Angel you will hate Diva, if you love it, you will love Diva. Description from the website “A warm and complex fragrance overflowing with delicious fruits and rich florals. Rich aromatic chocolate and amber complete this luscious blend!! It’s her world…we just live in it.”
Throw is amazing. I also have the Diva Glamorous Wash detergent. There is a reason it has a devoted fan base despite its price. I don’t use it everyday but it is amazing and it is potent. If you use the suggested 1/3 cup it will knock your socks off. It will last until you re-wash & still you will still small it. It is so fragrant that if my dogs lay on a throw I washed in it, they smell like it. If you wash your clothes in it, it will smell like you have perfume on, only unlike perfume, the scent remains. I like it better when I use 1/2 unscented detergent and 1/2 Diva. Not as strong but still nicely fragrant. I cannot take it full strength on my sheets. I’m warning you, it is potent but lovely. If you get it, play around with how much you use. To me it is well worth the price and totally addicting. Don’t get it on Amazon. I have heard that there have been some questionable sales on there, may not be authentic and it’s no cheaper than getting it from an authorized dealer. The Diva candle burns perfectly, never smokes, burns evenly, amazing throw, & lasts longer than BBW candles
Beach Blonde smells exactly like Bobbi Brown Beach. Description from their website “A crisp, invigorating scent reminiscent of sand, warm suntan oil & sea mist. Very inviting & somewhat overpowering, hence the name Beach Blonde!” It has excellent throw also. It is similar to the ones that BBW keeps changing the name on, but they all smell the same. …It used to be Poolside, the last one I got was called Shades of Summer Suntan. Both of those are very potent but not in a really good way. I can only take them for about 30 minutes and they have too much of a floral scent. The Beach Blonde to me smells more like BB Beach fragrance and is a much more pleasing scent.
High Maintenance is their #1 seller and I love it. It is not as potent as the other 2 but still has excellent throw. It’s a very sophisticated, warm fragrance. Description from their website: ” Floral, woody blend combined with patchouli and vanilla with a heavy musk undertone! Very sophisticated and truly addictive!!!!!!!” I can use a votive in my large bedroom and it lightly scents the entire room without being overwhelming. The large one will scent several rooms. Very soft, warm, relaxing, love it!
Warm Sugar Cookie is also one I love. It smells exactly like you are baking cookies and the throw is excellent. Description from the website: “Always in our top three year round! Rich sugar cookies baking in the oven with zero fat grams!!!” I also love Eggnog , description: “Rich eggnog dusted with nutmeg! Continuously requested year-round! Some things are worth waiting for!”
Blueberry Blitz smells like blueberries. Description from the website: “Overload on blueberries! Untamed, tart & invigorating!” It is fresh, fruity and throw is also excellent. This one is very refreshing when you don’t feel like a complex, or warm fragrance.
A Christmas Tradition is a new one I just got recently and WOW it is wonderful. It smells just like a Christmas candle should and the throw is superb. It will scent a huge area. Description is “A tantalizing blend of oranges, apricots & tangerines smothered with ginger, clove & cinnamon. A true smell of Christmas.”
Running out of room so I will just list some of my other favorites: Limelight(great throw, smells just like limes, nice), French Market-LOVE it….( smells like L’Artisan La Chasse aux Papillon), 24K, VIP( citrus), Bless Your Heart( complex, nice), Fleur De Lis (really lovely and unusual, love this one), Hippie Chick(vanilla and patchouli), Mango Tango, Lipstick(Fruity, berry scent), Passion ( strawberry, vanilla and coconut) .
Ones I did not like Mediterranean Fig(smells like bug spray to me), Ira Jean(throw was not good, scent generic), Sugar Baby( a weak not as nice version of Warm Sugar Cookie), Pineapple Crush(throw not great and doesn’t really smell much like pineapple),
You can read the descriptions of all of the fragrances on their website. I usually order online, prices are better than

I got a votive candle as a gift. It was called sugar cookie and didn’t seem to smell that great unlit. However, once I started burning it it smelled wonderful! Its really made the entire room it was in smell delicious and it also burned for quite a while. I had no trouble with smoking from it. My only frustration was that it smelled so good I wanted to eat it! I think I’m going to buy a non-food scented one next.

Love these candles! I have tried so many different brands over the years and have never found one that really just fit my type, until now. These smell like a perfume. A friend summed it up really well “Oh these candles smell great, they make your house interesting!”. I love High Maintence, but my favorite is Diva. It is just a beautiful scent. They are both great to give as gifts to and I always include them in my holiday gift baskets. Give them a try, they will be your new favorite!

I’ve been buying Tyler candles for years, after receiving the French Market scent as a gift. Many of the candles have a good throw, so you can fill a large room. While I enjoy their food and fruity scents, what I like best and – what I think makes this candle company fun and different – are the scents that smell like expensive feminine perfume. Some of my favorites on the perfume spectrum: Goldleaves, Miss Priss, Girly Girl, Hollywood, Head Over Heals, Upgrade and Prestige. I recently tried Icon which smells exactly like a man’s cologne, so it makes for a nice change of pace. Tyler Roses is a perfect rose scent, and gardenia really is gardenia. There were also some I didn’t like and felt they had a “crayola” or “chemical” smell – Passion, Fleur de Lis, Mulberry, Mediterranian Fig. Scents are so subjective, though, so I can’t say everyone would react to any of these the way I do. I buy online, and votives are a cheap, easy way to try a bunch of them without a huge commitment, financial or otherwise.

I bought 3.4 ounce Tyler High Maintenance candle from a specialty boutique store for my sister one Christmas. Next time I came to visit the candle was burning and it smelled so expensive. Does expensive have a smell? Lol; I’m a dork!
Tyler’s website says, this “Tyler Candle Company’s 1 fragrance! Floral, woody blends combine with patchouli and vanilla with a heavy musk undertone. Very sophisticated and truly addictive!”
Okay sophisticated is a better word. My brother in law was the one who feel in love with this candle (its probably the vanilla–men love vanilla), prices are average–think Yankee Candle, but lasts a long time so it’s worth it. If you want to try a candle from their line this is the first one to try. Word of caution: it is very potent, but maybe you might like that.

A friend got me the 11.5oz jar candle in High Maintainence for Christmas. The scent is a mix of musk, vanilla, patchouli and florals (all of which I typically hate), and it is so unique. I think the most appropriate word would be intoxicating, actually. It’s a very sensual, perfumey scent, and the throw is great. The candle burns cleanly and evenly, and leaves very little wax after burning out. The color for this particular scent is almost khaki, and the jar is not beautiful but not bad. The price is decent, and I would repurchase this scent again. However, I have sniffed every other scent this brand makes and have not found another that I even remotely enjoy.

These are my new favorite candles! I received my first 2 as Christmas gifts this past holiday season and have developed a new obsession… I have yet to find a scent they offer that I don’t love. (Although I’m sure it’s inevitable) Even the votives are long lasting and high quality. Run. Buy all you can. Stock up and invigorate, calm or just delight yourself!

I was walking down the Strand in Galveston a few years ago (long before Ike) and my boyfriend, (who is NOT into girly things at all, he’s a man’s man) asked if I had smelled the candle burning next door to the shop we were in, and if he pointed it out, I knew it must be something special 🙂
We went in to look and it was Tyler Candle Co’s “French Market.” It has been my absolute favorite scent ever. It smells good even when it is not burning. When I was looking it up online, I found a couple of other people who had also discovered it along the Strand in Galveston. Its scent description is tuberose and gardenia, but you have to smell it to see what I am talking about. Their others are amazing as well 🙂

Goldleaves is my absolute favorite! It’s the only one I keep repurchasing. It’s described as jasmine, hyacinth and exotic lily of the valley meld with a background of moss and musk to create an elaborate feast for the senses. All in all, I tried about 6 different scents. Most were ok but Goldleaves was the biggest hit. I can’t remember what the other fragrances were. I buy from suepatrick.com for the free shipping.

Tyler candles are hit or miss for me. I’ve tried at least 9 of their scents and most had practically no throw but the 2 standouts for me would be High Profile (my favorite) and Prestige. They were very strong and scented my large room pretty fast. High Profile is a very seductive floral/citrus blend that’s outta this world! Prestige has a sensual musky aroma. I liked High Maintenace but it didn’t throw too well. One of the minor problems I do have with these candles is that the wicks mushroom while burning – even after proper trimming.
