Aesop advertises this as a light layering serum that is full of actives like Niacinamide and Vitamin B5 and Ascorbyl Phosphate. I would argue about how light this is, because it has the consistency of an oil and it takes a while to sink in. The instructions say to apply with a light massage. The thing is, when your skin is dry and irritated from Vitamin A, you really don`t want to do any extra rubbing that could lead to further irritation. That problem can be easily bypassed though, if you just let it sink in by itself and have a few minutes to wait. The reason why I am not especially fond of this is the strong rose scent, which is by no means unpleasant, but has no business really in skincare. Fragrance can be pretty irritating, so I just wish it had been left out. Then the other problem is the exorbitant price Aesop charges for this and a lot of its products. There are plenty of drugstore options that contain these actives minus the perfume, so there`s no need to repurchase and spend so much on Aesop`s unwieldy glass bottle that makes handling and travel difficult and impractical.
