While it’s not my #1 fave lip product (that’s Soap & Glory’s Sexy Motherpucker) this is a close 2nd. The gold bits are a bit superfluous, but the product itself is lovely. Nourishing for my lips. I love it.

This is an ok lip balm, it’s kind of thin and doesn’t provide lasting moisture so I don’t think it’s worth the price. Packaging is beautiful though.

Love this, it feels very high quality, thick and nurturing. I love the affect.

I’ve heard a lot of positive reviews on this lip balm so I’ve bought it and it really works on my lips…..I’ve been searching for a lip balm or lip treatment, that works well my my chapped, peeling, and creak lips and this lip balm does the trick. I’m glad I came across this this lip product it’s a bit pricey but it’s worth it. At night I apply it on my lips just like a lip mask and leave it on over night, the next morning viola!….my lips are smooth, hydrated and soft!…..No more chappy, peeling dry lips!…..I love this lip balm works the best for me!…I well repurchase this item again highly recommended for anybody to buy it….

Tatcha products are heavily hyped, with breathless advertising, and absolutely beautiful packaging. I like some of them, BUT….
This lip balm is a fail for me. It feels like Vaseline, and there are visible gold flakes suspended in the balm. The flakes are fairly big, so you have to really break them down with your fingers when you apply the balm. I did not find it moisturizing at all, even when I left it on all night. All you get is a temporary sheen on your lips for about 15 minutes, and that’s it.
Folks, assuming you are not allergic to it, if you want that gold sheen, you can buy edible gold leaf (for eating, cake decorating etc) at craft and bakery stores, and mix it up with Vaseline or your favorite (inexpensive) lip balm for a lot less than this balm costs, or you could use a natural product with a delicate gold sheen like Pacifica in the shade Ravish (often available at Whole Foods).
FYI I do like a few of Tatcha’s products a lot: the camellia oil cleanser (which I think is one of the best), the enzyme grains, and the dewy mist (see my reviews if interested), but everyone agrees they are pricey. The hunt is on for less costly dupes….MUA recommendations welcome!

This is a lovely splurge for a lip balm. The gold leaf on top leaves a subtle sheen. The gold leaf doesn’t last forever, but I apply this at night so that does not matter to me. I wanted to try something else then the Dior rose lip balm. I prefer Tatcha’s balm. A little goes a long way. (took me 1 year to finish tatcha’s full size balm). Not waxy or sticky. It helps keep my lips soft and supple. however if my lips are chapped and crack I still have to use carmex until they heal.

This is a definitely a luxury item! The packaging is beautiful, the price is ridiculous and the product is just average. The gold foil on top disintegrates after two uses, so you won’t get much sheen from it and I was unimpressed with it as a balm or gloss.

I’ve been looking for a lip balm to wear as a nighttime treatment but haven’t had much luck yet. You’d be surprised how the majority of lip balms contain shea butter, avocado butter/oil, cocoa butter, coconut oil, and/or botanicals/fruit oils, all of which I’m allergic to. I recently purchased the Tatcha Polished Rice Enzyme Powder and decided to order this as well since it’s based on Squalene rather than the ever present and over used Shea Butter. But I wish I didn’t. It’s a really strange product and didn’t work for me at all.
The gold leaf overlay is supposed to impart a glow to lips but I find it more of a nuisance since the texture of the balm is so stiff that it’s hard to mix it properly. So there’s no way to get it to spread evenly throughout the entire pot of balm. Also, being metal, it leaves an incredibly odd taste that I just can’t stand. I can’t describe it other than it just tastes awful. Like when you swallow a pill and it leaves a coating behind in your mouth. I can’t even think of too many lip products I’ve tried that actually have a taste. It does smell pretty pleasant though, a barely there slightly sweet scent with a touch of something clean and lemony perhaps.
And the texture… ugh. It’s stiff, hard, and very difficult to spread. I used a patting motion to apply it and while the level of thickness is easy to control, it ultimately feels like my lips are coated and uncomfortable no matter how light a layer I use. It can be built up to quite a thick layer. While it looks like a clear, hardened version of Aquaphor, it’s actually nothing like that in texture. You could hold the jar upside down all day long and it would budge. So I guess the positive of that would be that the chances of it spilling in a purse would be pretty low unless it was subjected to extreme heat.
I’m not a fan of jar style lip balms since I refuse to stick dirty fingers in it throughout the day to reapply. But I just use before bed as a nighttime treatment, applying with clean fingers. So no complaints about packaging.
As to if this actually works, I can’t really say. I used it twice and couldn’t stand the taste and texture. Luckily Tatcha has a good return policy because I’m returning this and I can’t recommend it. There’s so many other great balms out there for a better price without the gimmicks (meaning the gold leaf).

I really like this lip balm. Not so sure about the gold leaf on top, seems kind of silly. Slightly citrus taste, not too goopy on the lips. Seems to make my lips smoother. I mostly use at night. Prefer it to the by Terry Lip Balm which is almost twice the price. Tatcha balm comes in a cute package, nestled in a little drawer inside the box. Four stars because the gold leaf is just pretentious.

I have tried so many lip products out there claiming to be moisturizing, hydrating, medicating…but all w/o success for my chapping, peeling, cracking lips. I was so desperate, that I took the plunge to even try this product out and I am so glad I did. Granted it’s pricey, and the packaging isn’t the most hygienic, but it works. It’s more than a petroleum jelly and it’s more than a lanolin. It works to hydrate and mend cracked, dried, dehydrated, neglected lips. I work in a drying envt and I even got a little Rafissa on my lips causing them to severely crack and dry out. Nothing worked, so I was desperate…which caused me to buy this. This goes on so soothingly, calmingly and smothers my lips w/maternal care! It made my lips feel so good and look so much better! I love this and yes, if I sadly lost this, I would buy it again, even at the astronomical price. I wouldn’t use it everyday, but I would use it when all other balms fail. This is my no fail back up! I am glad I have this and I would recommend this to those people w/hurting dry lips!!
