I used other products from SVR Sebiaclear range and I was happy with them so I had high hopes from this product. At first, the product seems OK: light texture, slightly fresh scent (which goes away quickly – so this is not a problem). However, after it dries it left my skin matte and it peels off like a mask – or like a residue not sure how to explain this. Not to mention that you cannot follow up with other products like moisturiser as they will peel off together. I also tried it as makeup base, but my foundation simply did not apply well. I have normal-combo skin with several blemishes. Maybe this is for (very) oily skin.

I don’t usually write over-enthusiastic reviews, because what people need in a review is as much an objective description as possible, so as to understand if the product is what they’re looking for. Despite all that, let me tell you… I’M SO MADLY IN LOVE WITH THIS CREAM! It cleared my skin twice (I had switched to an azelaic acid treatment because I had read so many good things about this ingredient, and results had been about as good as with SVR, but the brand reformulated the cream with a retinoid which my skin didn’t agree with at all, so I came back to SVR, head covered in ashes :D), and soothed redness, which acne treatments usually tend to exacerbate because of all the acids.
The power ingredient, the star of this cream is Niacinamide (here it’s at 4%) which is a scientifically proven wonder for a lot of skin issues (, followed by gluconolactone (a gentle, sensitive skin-friendly exfoliator, with some other interesting skin benefits), salicylic acid (the Pore-Unclogger-In-Chief) and a mattifying agent to keep oilyness at bay.
A little background: my acne has never been really bad (grade I (mild) – comedonic acne), and now is barely acne at all, but more some condition my skin is sort of prone to, so if you have anything worse than that this cream might help, might even help a lot, but your acne is unlikely to clear with just a cream, so you may want to address it with the help of a dermatologist. Another necessary disclaimer: this cream it’s not the only thing I’m using to help my skin: I’m currently on inositol, a mild non-hormonal treatment for pcos, and -following the advice of my dermatologist – I’m using a fatty cleansing milk (Bionike’s Triderm) instead of soap to “deceive” my sebaceous glands into thinking my skin is already full of oils and doesn’t need anymore. I think every one of these things contributed to my currently almost clear skin, so keep all of this in mind.
Lost your faith by now? Nah, don’t! I was already using inositol and the cleansing milk when I tried other creams before this one, and my skin was never far as good as it is now: this cream unclogs pores, reduces seborrhea (oilyness), soothes redness, smoothes the skin and gradually fades acne marks (post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation).
The packaging says you can use once or twice per day, but I’d advice a single daily use, because I found that using it twice my skin peeled a little (that might be my skin though); the packaging also says “excellent under make-up”, which I don’t agree with because the powdery film it forms peels down when anything is layered on it. Because of these two consideration I’d suggest to put it on before sleeping.
How does it feel? It spreads as slightly sticky and dries down, as I said, to a sheerly white-ish powdery film (which is oddly aesthetically pleasing, even if I wouldn’t wear it in public as a make-up or things like that). It has a fragrance, but it dissolves quickly, so it shouldn’t be a problem for migraine-prone gals, and it seems to be quite sensitive skin-friendly (or at least it didn’t broke me out), which is also specified on the packaging. It costs 15-20€ (may cost more in the US because it’s a French brand, so I guess the price may be subjet to export/import fees) for 40 ml. I’ve been using this since August (with a 2 months hiatus) and I’m about at the 4th or 5th tube (yes, only con in this product is that it runs out pretty fast).
In conclusion, give this cream a try, because your skin could literally fall in love with it <3
