Spoiler alert: I bought this, wore it 3 times, and returned it.
I was really intrigued by the idea of a lip gloss stick, and had seen a few trusted youtubers raving about it, so I thought I’d give it a whirl during the VIB sale, even though the idea of spending $35 on a single lip product is anathema to me.
I got the colour Sugar Sugar, a nice beige nude. When you first apply this product, it practically melts from a solid into a gloss on your lips. Feels really rich and nice, colour looks good and has a nice glossy finish. After about 15 minutes, all the colour is gone, all the shine is gone, and all that’s left is big random specks of silver glitter stuck to my bare lips. I feel like this wears off just by moving my mouth (i.e. talking) without eating or drinking or wiping or anything. Just disappears into thin air with only the glitter specks left as a reminder. Doesn’t leave the lips feeling moisturized either. Doesn’t necessarily dry them out, just doesn’t make them feel any better.
Not great. Will not repurchase, nor would I try another colour. Also, the non-retractable click mechanism is annoying as heck. Sorry, Marc!

I’m so torn on this product. The things I love are equally matched by the things I hate about it.
Love: The shades. I can wear most of them, and they have enough pigment that even on my highly pigmented lips, I can wear most of them.
* Uh-huh Honey – I fell in love with this and it was nothing I was looking for. It’s a bronzed chocolate with a silver glitter that gives it a flattering frost. I immediately felt like a sexy club goddess. It’s a hot, modern color with a retro disco ball look. I expected a lot of grit with all that glitter, but it’s impossibly smooth and creamy and looks fantastic.
* One Mauve Time – a cool, creamy lavender/mauve with bronze micro glitter that is almost indiscernible on the lips as anything other than brings enough warmth to keep the mauve from being flat and making the lips look incredibly plush. This is a tough color to wear, because it can looks very flat or corpse-like, but the micro glitter adds just the right amount of warmth. I often times can’t wear a color like this because ones with enough density to cover my pigmented lips usually look cakey and thick, not this one.
Both of these colors mix cool and warm in a way that is just beautiful and, I think wearable for anyone, whether you prefer warm or cool lipsticks.
They both feel plush and smooth and I absolutely love the feel. Initial application is rich and glossy, with no stickiness or greasiness, no grittiness no matter how much glitter, and great coverage with just one coat It’s really a pleasure to wear and the colors and finishes are beautiful. They offer rich coverage without looking thick.
The downsides, though, are considerable.
– Marc Jacobs has some of the worst packaging in the biz in all his products. Too clunky, too bulky, confoundingly cheap looking,
and messy. The noisy click mechanism is not retractable, yet clicks up in tiny increments that are frustrating.
– Way too pricey for the amount of product you get.
– NO staying power. Sure, I love the feeling of applying it, but having to do it every 30-50 minutes is just annoying, and I used it a
lot faster than I expected.
– It feels like it’s going to be moisturizing…but it’s not. It’s not especially drying, but I’d expect more moisture.
Would I buy this again? Probably not. It’s so lovely at first, but the lack of staying power is so frustrating and my romance turns to irritation within minutes. I can’t justify the cost because it disappears so quickly, but even if I got it as a gift, I’d still be frustrated using it. On top of all that, the bulky, noisy, ugly packaging takes away from the experience.
Another Marc Jacobs beauty product that is sooooo close but can’t quite close the deal. I don’t get why this keeps happening.

I really enjoy this product. I like the look of glossy lips, but I often don’t like wearing lip gloss. I dont like my hair sticking to it and i don’t love that i can really feel it on my lips throughout the day. That being said, this product does neither of those things (it’s super light) and it still feels quite hydrating. I have this is 3 shades, Mocha choco-lata, sugar sugar and one-mauve time – all very naturally pretty. I like that these aren’t so pigmented that i cant put them on without a mirror and i love that it’s an easy swipe and back in the purse it goes. It also looks like it has glitter in the stick but when you apply it to your lips, I don’t notice it at all.
It’s not overly expensive at $34 CAD, but that being said, you also don’t get a lot of product at 0.074 oz. I rarely make it all the way through any lip product I purchase so it isn’t a big deal for me, but if you find you go through lip products fairly quickly, this might not be worth your while.
Love them and repurchased twice already!

I like the look/feel of this gloss stick. But…it has very poor staying power for me. Within 20 minutes the color was mostly gone from my lips. I don’t mind reapplying now and then but this one just required too much maintenance.

I really love these! I have picked up 2 in the last month or so, and will definitely be grabbing a few more flattering pinky mauve, plummy shades. The packaging is a little bulky, but I still give the overall product 4+ stars.. They are hydrating, but still have a pretty good overall wear time before needing to be reapplied. Definitely recommend.

This product is similar to Chantecaille Lip Chics – it looks and applies like a lipstick but has the sheen, texture and zero staying power of a gloss.
The pros:
– The shade I have is GORGEOUS – One Mauve Time is a cool mauved MLBB with teeny tiny gold micro glitter that provides enough glow and dimension to keep this from being too purple/flat/corpse-like.
– The gloss aspect offers both moisture and a perfect glow – not thick/gloppy/sticky like a liquid gloss.
– For a gloss, these are really well pigmented.
Cons:
– This product is not cheap – US $28.
– Staying power, as mentioned above, is minimal. On me this is gone after an hour, even without eating/drinking/smooching.
– Packaging: Outer gloss case is cheap plastic and overly bulky (I guess to make it seem like there’s product inside), click mechanism is not necessary and breaks easily.
– Shade selection is limited.
All in all, I am so in love with the shade and texture that I would buy this again. But I wouldn’t be happy about the price and the poor durability so I am now on a hunt for a cheaper dupe….

After the recent debacle of MJ’s Le Marc Liquid Lip Crayon, you think I’d have been hesitant to buy another lip product from Marc. Then I saw these and my reluctance vanished. I do not like or wear lip gloss (too high-maintenance), but I love the look, especially for summer. And in these sticks is all the goodness of gloss without the mess. I bought One Mauve Time and Candy Bling, the latter of which I thought a bit out of my comfort zone–it looked quite bright, which is not my thing. I was pleasantly surprised. This product comes in faux-lipgloss packaging–the tube is in the end that would be the top. It’s clever and easy to see the color you’re choosing, but it’s another chunky space-waster. The product, though, made me ignore that. The stick clicks up and is not retractable, which I’m sure some won’t like (bot it will keep the stick from breaking off like similar products do). However, it clicks up the tiniest amount–you’ll think it’s couldn’t possibly be enough for even one application, but it’s good for two or three, depending on how much you apply. Candy Bling is a beautiful, sheer, lightly shiny, cool raspberry shade on my lips. There is a light smell of peppermint, but I didn’t find it bothersome. The texture of these is heaven–between that of a Fresh Tinted Balm and a Chantecaille Lip Chic–and it feels cushy and wonderful on the lips. The pigment is also between that of Fresh and Chantecaille–a little more pigmented (and less waxy) than the Fresh balm, but not as much as a Lip Chic–and it’s easy to deepen the color with another swipe or two. Given the texture, it requires more frequent reapplication, but I’m okay with that. The formula applies smoothly and easily, with no patchiness or bleeding (hooray!), and as it wears off, it leaves a pretty stain. The amount of shimmer varies from shade to shade, but in none that I have (which now includes Black Cherry Baby) is it over-the-top or gritty. I found it lightly hydrating–again, more than Fresh and less than Chantecaille–and my lips were not dry at the end of the day. I’ve always been a fan of sheer lip color and I’m totally over the matte look, so these are perfect for me, especially for summer. However, I can imagine using them to lighten/darken/increase the depth of other lipsticks, so I think i’ll get plenty of use from them. Given the emollient texture, I’d imagine they would melt if left in a hot car/elsewhere on a hot day, but I carried mine around all day and had no issues. There are pricey at $28 and I’m not a huge fan of the packaging (and don’t forget the click up/no retracting, if that would make you crazy), but I love these enough that I would repurchase. I’m already planning to pick up another shade or two. (Ingredients are listed via the link above.)

The Marc Jacobs Enamored Hydrating Lip Gloss Stick is a slightly hydrating lip gloss (just like the name). The color is very subtle but with a couple swipes it is slightly buildable and lasts for two to three hours unless you are eating or drinking. I will say that the color can bleed a little into fine lines. This contains peppermint which is not overwhelming but does make my lips feel dry after the color fades off. If you are going to pick this up I would recommend picking up one of the darker shades because the lighter ones seem to get the color washed out when you apply them.
