I’ve been through two bottles of this. The first time I purchased this I also got the Clear 2% Regular Strength BHA as I couldn’t decide between the two. I alternated between them but found myself reaching for the Clear 2% more due to the ease of the flip cap bottle (over Resist’s screw cap) Although I prefer the flip cap, the screw cap on the Resist is leak proof and I never had any issues with the packaging (I store my products in drawers, sometimes laying down). My Clear 2% fell over once in the drawer and leaked everywhere.
Prior to using this my skin was congested, dull and bumpy. I would use benzoyl peroxide 3 times a week to help with the bumps and minor acne and even though it helped it never got rid of it completely. I started off using it once a day and built up to twice a day after a week or so. After using this for a few months along with some other PC products my skin is now clear, smooth and I barely get any acne. I now only had to use the smallest amount of benzoyl peroxide once a fortnight as the BHA’s were doing most of the work. All was good by the end of the 2 bottles and the Resist has added anti aging ingredients so I repurchased that one.
Well I’ve just finished my second bottle of Resist BHA and I am not impressed. I broke out more often whereas I would barely break out at all when using both the Resist and Clear. I’ve gone back to using benzoyl peroxide once or twice a week to help curb the breakouts. My skin is sensitive so I think I may have not reacted well to the added anti ageing ingredients. I have just repurchased the Clear 2% as my skin seems to agree better with that one.

After doing some research and discovering that BHA’s can clean out large pores and make them appear finer I decided to try Paula’s Choice Resist 2% BHA. When I received it I stopped using my night time AHA and started to use the resist every evening before bed. When I used it I felt nothing. It was like wetting the cotton pad with water and swiping over my face. I started using it morning and night and continued for three months. I like to give products a chance unless they’re irritating. After three months there has been absolutely no change in the size or oiliness of the pores on my nose. It feels like a complete waste of both money and time.

I think I’ve gone through 2 or 3 bottles of this. It’s a great leave on chemical exfoliant. My skin tolerates it very well. It makes my sister’s skin peel a lot but she is new to leave on exfoliants so maybe she has more layers to burn through. It’s light weighs, fast absorbing. I don’t even notice it on my skin. I can apply makeup on top. I can’t decide if I prefer this or the basic PC 2% BHA liquid. They are both good. You get more for your money with the other version. In my head this product is more multitasking and has other good skin ingredients so I usually get this one. But my skin does well with both of them so I don’t think you can go wrong either way.

I was an earlyish adopter of Paula’s Choice exfoliants, but then, for reasons that are unclear even to me, I fell off the wagon and stayed off for nearly a decade. Well, now I’m back on, and it started here, with the Resist Daily Pore-Refining Treatment 2% BHA, which I got in a combo back (the BHA Exfoliant Duo) with the Resist Advanced Pore-Refining Treatment 4% BHA.
This stuff is wonderful. It works similarly to my old favorite, the Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid, but I think it has a better texture. Where the Skin Perfecting can feel a wee bit greasy, the Daily Pore-Refining goes on like water. The only downside is that you’re paying more money for less product ($33 for 3 fl oz vs. $29 for 4 fl oz). (For this reason, I ordered the Skin Perfecting after finishing my bottle of the Daily Pore-Refining.) Anyway, I saw an almost immediate positive change in my skin’s overall texture once I started using the Daily Pore-Refining, as well as a decline in hormonal acne breakouts. If you struggle with acne and haven’t tried any Paula’s Choice liquid exfoliants yet, you’re missing out!

I got a travel size version of this. Compared to the famous liquid BHA – this one is gentler and more elegant. The liquid is a little rough. If you have more sensitive skin, I would recommend this BHA from PC. It is slightly pricier, at $33 for 3 oz vs $29 for 4 oz.

This honestly saved my skin. I use the Extra Strength which I believe is slightly different. For years I’ve struggled with acne and almost every product I’ve tried has broken out–it’s so bad I have to make my own cleanser, and even then it didn’t solve it (but I think I’m figuring out the cause so fingers crossed). Then I decided to give this a shot and I’m glad I did–miracles of miracles, it didn’t break me out and cut breakouts down a ton.
I have only a couple of complaints:
1) The packaging is annoying and will leak if not stored upright. I’ve found this out the hard way. Not travel-friendly.
2)I’d heard BHA helps with sebaceous filaments but I have seen no reduction in about two years of use.
But it makes my skin manageable and clear and that’s what’s most important to me at the end of the day. It’s a bit expensive (I’m in Canada) but a bottle lasts about six months and is sooo worth it.

I have sensitive skin and had previously tried the 1% bha lotion. But silicones just don’t seem to suit my skin!
I was scared to try the 2% then when I did ay first I almost wished I hadn’t – I broke out in even more tiny whitehead pimples on my jawline than usual (one of the main reasons I was trying it out was to get rid of bumps there!)
But then I read up a bit about how exfoliants can cause spots to come up quicker than they otherwise would, so figured this was maybe that kind of a purging response. The general consensus seemed to be that big inflamed breakouts probably meant a bad reaction, but small whiteheads were more likely to be purging.
I decided to carry on using it, focusing just on the breakout areas as other parts of my face have got pretty dry recently. It’s been a couple of weeks now and my skin has much improved! I feel like my daily makeup and suncream is no longer clogging my pores in the same way. Going to continue trying this out, will update if any bad reactions do occur.

This is a good bha. Paula choice has a good range of bha’s . I really liked it but its not my favourite liquid bha of the range but there is a differant one for everyone since everyones skin is differant.

Woah, wish I had known about this product sooner. It has completely stopped my forehead from becoming an oil slick by mid-afterrnoon. Aside from this miracle, my pores appear smaller and I have had no breakouts since since I began to use it.

Since I tend to have dry skin I use this product 2-3 times a week. It really keeps my pores clean. When the pores are clean they appear smaller. I put it on areas of my face with enlarged pores. Because the pores are clean and exfoliated, I don’t get blackheads or breakouts. The only negative is it dries a little sticky which is interesting because it doesn’t interfere with makeup. This product makes you skin sun sensitive so if you don’t already, you have to use a sunscreen daily.
