I’ve reviewed the shade “Chutney” in the past, which was a staple in my bag for soooo long. (Which reminds me, I need to repurchase it before it’s gone.) These seem to be on the path to discontinuation, which is heartbreaking since these are absolutely wonderful lipsticks.
Yesterday, I picked up “Arrowroot”, which is an absolutely gorgeous pumpkin orange hue. I’ve been obsessed with rusty, warm orange lips this season, and I love how this is a brighter, creamier alternative to the Fenty matte lip in “Freckle Fiesta” (which I’ve also purchased). This is closer to the KVD liquid lipstick in “Milagro” in terms of brightness, but since this isn’t matte, it doesn’t look as severe. Against my fair olive skin, it looks brightening and flattering, without looking clownish at all. I really adore this shade.
The formula is consistent with “Chutney”. It lasts for HOURS, even looking gorgeous after a cup of coffee, which is almost unheard of in a non-matte formula. It starts off a bit glossy, but over time, it fades to a satin finish, but the color still looks vibrant and fresh. When the color does fade, it almost takes on a blotted, soft-focus look which (especially with this shade), is so unbelievably pretty. The main difference between this and “Chutney” in terms of formula is that this one actually feels more hydrating. Like a LOT more hydrating. My lips feel so comfortable when this is on, but after I remove it, they feel soft and nourished.
The packaging is beautiful and sturdy. I love how minimalist it appears, and the matte finish doesn’t attract fingerprints. Also, the bottom of the tube has a clear cap that allows you to see the shade without having to look at the name. This makes it easier to find in my collection. The elongated, angled doe foot applicator picks up enough product to cover both lips without having to dip back in, and the slight point at the tip makes creating a precise line a breeze. There is literally nothing wrong with this luxurious packaging.
The regular price for these is $24 for 7.15g of product, which I already thought wasn’t that bad a price for a high-end lip. Is it expensive? Yes. But you get so much, and it’s got such great staying power and clean ingredients that I find the price to be rather justifiable. However, now they’ve been marked down to $12, which feels like stealing! If you love these, or you have been considering trying them but have been hesitant because of the price, now is the time to stock up.
I’m hoping Bite isn’t discontinuing these, but I’ll definitely be picking backups of “Arrowroot” and “Chutney”, as well as a couple other shades that I’d been looking to try.
