I recieved a small tube sample of this from my last visit at Target. Good thing that I didn’t pay for this product because it’s really bad. I like a few other products fom La Roche Posey, like their Tolarine face wash. I applied this light lotion before bed for a few days. It is sticky and it stinks. A funky smell all on my pillows and face when I woke up in the morning. At first it smells like oranges but after a while the scents turns to a rotten oranges smell that lingers! The product didn’t even do anything special for my skin. Ewww. In the trash it went.

I bought this product to help minimize some acne scars from a couple years ago and dark spots. While it worked wonders on improving my skin’s texture, I didn’t seem an visible improvement in my scars or dark spots. It was sticky once it dried which was difficult to put makeup on or do anything after the application.

I initially bought this product because I read somewhere it was good at minimizing plastic surgery scars – I had a couple of moles removed. I thought it did help flatten smooth them – so plus points for that. However, I gave minus points for the texture: while it applied smoothly, but once dry, it had a sticky texture! It said on the package that it was for wrinkles and fine lines. While I don’t have any wrinkles (but maybe some fine lines here and there), I do have some uneven texture, uneven skin tone, and dark spots from past acne. It really didn’t do much to address these issues. And, did I mention the sticky texture? I couldn’t get past that. Plus, I thought it made my skin oily after application.

Well, I don’t know where to start. First of all, I must say I had really high hopes on this one. I always liked LRP products and consider this brand to be safe and appropiate to sensitive skin. I read wonderful things about this cream and since I needed a night cream, I had to try it.It has no spf and is said to make skin look brighter and fight and prevent the first wrinkles. My skin had been somewhat dull, so I believed this would do wonders for my skin. Well, I was wrong!!!
My skin is combination although in the winter it tends to be more normal than combination and in hot summer is tends to have oily days. I used this cream in hot summer.
When I first opened up the tube, I noticed a weird and unpleasant smell. I’d describe this as having a light texture and no colour. So, I put in on my face and that smell was really bugging me because it was strong and lingered!!! I’d wake up in the morning and my sheets, my pillows would smell like Vita C!!! That would be ok if that smell was pleasant but no, it smells like oranges but not in a good way. It doesn’t smell like a Body Shop orange body butter, wich would be lovely despite being to strong to use in the face, it smells more like a fake orange smell. And as I stated before, this smelll lingers and lingers…. Ew….
Then I also realized this cream left my face looking shiny and in the morning I would look really oily… And would stink. Looool. I payed 24 euros for this so I was willing to do my best to like it. And so I kept on using for three weeks. At first I felt like this nothing for my face but then I broke out terribly. I break out once in a while, a small bump, no big deal. But with this, I broke out like when I was in my teens!!! In the first week of use I got a pimple that was so big and in a place I never broke up before and that would hurt like hell. I though that bump was due to a new foundation I was wearing and stopped using that foundation but kept on using the cream. So after a few days I got several pimples on my chin. I though it was still due to the use of the foundation although by then I was no longer using it. Yoo see, I thought the foundation had caused some sort or allergy. A week later I got more pimples on my chin and hugde, giant black heads all over my face. I even got a black head close to my left eye. Can you believe it??? Then I went to a friend’s house for 2 days and forgot to take this cream with me and her creams are very heavy for my skin (her skin is very dry) and so I used no cream for those days. Oh well, 2 days away from this and my skin got so much better!!! I was petrify to realize that this cream was the reason to my horrid, pimples. My skin is now clearing but I am very disapointed because in the bottle it said it was for sensitive normal to combination skin. I chose the right type for my skin, so I can’t believe it caused me so much stress, days and days of me feeling ashamed of leaving the house and I still have marks caused by the pimples, still have some pimples, and God knows when will I get rid of the blackheads and large pores. My pores were not small, but this made them look much larger and darker, totally GROSS like I don’t wash my face or something. I think this product would be suitable for dry skin only, but even for dry skin I would not recommend it at all because of the ridiculous smell. I understand this must be due to the vitamin C in it but what I say to LRP is “If you can’t make a vitamin C that is bearable jus don’t”. I advise u combination girls, not to mention oily girls, to stay away from this. Terrible stuff, the worst I’ve ever tried in my whole life. I’ve tried lots of creams that do nothing but a few that ruin my skin. And this sure ruined my skin. So bad!!!! The packaging is also ridiculous. Save your money and stay the hell away from this!!!
PLEASE NOTE that I’m reviewing the one that is “for sensitive normal to combination skin” one.

I love vitamin c for boosting and maintaining even tone and bright clarity of my maturing dry skin. The tube is sanitary and dispenses with ease at first. I wasn’t looking for a “wow” factor but general maintenance of all the work and expense throughout the years. I was looking for gentler c option for the season than the booster c powder from philosophy that I was using for the summer and fall. This dry cream version was gentler and creamier and layered very well with sunscreen and foundation, a must for me. But I had to use it up on my feet and hands because it oxidized and oozed before the month was out. A defective tube or perhaps the premature oxidization speaks to the freshness of the ingredients? A good gentle product and for dry skins, a perfect delivery system. But I will not be trying this again because pca vitamin c with vitamin e is as comparative. And that tube is going strong and will be used up this winter and I bought it in April.

LOVE this. I am sure it is responsible for making my skin more luminous/bright. It is comfortable on the skin and has just enough moisturization that I can use it without a moisturizer on top (although I do use one). I use the Hydraphase Essence underneath and the Redermic XL on top and they seem to work really well together. I use it morning/night with no irritation.
Price wise LRP is not the cheapest pharmacy brand out there but for the results I find it cheap. This line is now my new HG.

I was very afraid that vitamin C products would irritate my skin. I tried making my own and that was a disaster! The LRP active C line has never irritated my skin, and even better they don’t make me breakout. I use the dry version in the winter and the regular in the summer, although i don’t see much of a difference. I did notice that the dry version seems to oxidize faster than the regular version, but that could just be my imagination. I will definitely continue to repurchase this. It is pricey but I get it on skincarerx witht he MUA20 discount

Seems that this is a product that works best for a very specific group — and apparently I am one of them. I love this for the luminosity and “juiciness” it gives my skin when I pair it with every other night use of Renova. The Renova alone improves the surface texture of my skin and reduces wrinkles, but only the combo with LRP makes my skin really glow.
Please note: I have dry skin with a tendency to flakiness from the Renova use. I am *not* acne-prone; very few products are comedogenic for me. That might be why my skin likes the moisturizing base in this. I haven’t noticed any clogged pores, and I don’t use any particularly strong cleanser or manual exfoliation with it. I am not particularly sensitive, except to some chemical sunscreens and to some essential oils — nothing in this irritates my skin. In fact, it’s soothing. I have fine lines, some enlarged pores and melasma; the LRP helps with the first two, I think, but does little for the melasma. (I’ve tried most of the prescription hydroquinone products with little result. My melasma seems very difficult to lighten.) If you see yourself in my description, then the Active C for dry skin might be great for you. They do make a second formula for normal/combo skin.

Despite the negative reviews for this product, I appear to be having some luck with it. I’ve been using this every morning under moisturizer for about a month and I think my skin tone has really evened out (much less redness).
I apply this on, wait about a minute, and then apply moisturizer
Although this formula is for dry skin, I must still apply moisturizer on top because it is not moisturizing enough to be worn alone.
I have not suffered breakouts from this.

Though I have never tried La Roche Posay skincare products before, I still had high hopes for this since I’ve heard of so many people swearing by their products. I bought this Active C cream because I need a vitamin C cream to aid in preventing wrinkles and whatnot. I figured, why not try LRP? However, after only *one* night, I woke up to a face full of pimples. I mean, I looked like I had a case of the chicken pocks with this thing! My face is acne-*prone*, but my skin usually remains clear with the occasional blemish or two. Even after I washed my face, more additional pimples kept showing up throughout the day. I’ve immediately stopped this and up for swaps it goes. A major dissapointment for price and for such a reputable brand. If anyone knows of a good Vit. C moisturizer, please feel free to PM me.
