This is a musk beautifully blended with fresh citruses into a bit of honey and the cleaniness of corriander and leathery orris root. It smells sophisticated, pretty and clean.
1957- history of 19 is Coco Chanels birthday and 57 is the biggest store in New York, America. Everything Chanel puts out has symbolism but i feel this one is pushing it with the numbers and such. I am guessing this is an interpretation of a link to America. idk about all that, i honestly dont find this to reminiscence any of the visuals of Chanel’s descriptions at all. The release of this in Feburary 2019 was also marketing gimmick, aside from this, i wholeheartedly love it.
The reason why this is special to me in Les Exclusifs line is because the dry down reminds me of the calligraphy ink i used to play with when i was a child in my home country. It smelled so good to me and i love how a fragrance can trigger memory. My boyfriend hates the opening of the perfume because he says it reminds him of early 2000s Anker Blues cologne. Cheap and plastic smelling. The drydown changes that for him and he tolerate it lol after about 4 hours it is still changing on the skin and thats where it takes a turn on me and I start to dislike it.
I appreciiate its longevity and how this lasts all day on me. I can even smell it after i shower! Some people dont like so much musks because they think of laundry detergent. To me, this is not as soapy as Beige Les Exclusifs and the honey smells like its better blended than Beige. It doesnt give me a headache but at time after a couple of hours the scent can turn sour on me and reminds me of Glossier You perfume. This the reason why perfumes are very personal. It will smell different mixed with your own chemistry. Overall I do like this scent because It makes me feel elegant but still fresh and clean. I suggest to not overspray and get a thinner layer, it works its magic in small amounts and overspraying isnt needed for me.
My journey continues with the Les Exclusifs line. I feel like a sample is much needed and a blind buy is very risky. The drydowns of these is where the real magic happens. You have to give them about an hour to develop. My favorite remains Jersey EDP til this day. I want to test no.18, 1932, misia and boy.
