This is, without a doubt, the worst OPI polish I have ever owned, and it’s probably in my top 10 worst polishes across the board.
I love many OPI polishes, but something about the formula of this one is way off from others I’ve used, whether I loved or hated them.
It’s very thin, and not in a good way. With one coat, it’s horribly patchy. Two coats gets it to almost full opacity, but is still streaky in places, and I’ve also had so many issues with parts of it sort of lifting the first layer, so there are visible nail splotches. (If you’ve ever used a blush, bronzer, highlight, etc. over foundation and the application seemed to sort of remove the foundation underneath, it’s kind of like that.) Three coats mostly gets it to full opacity and coverage, which is lovely, but it’s not worth it for me because it chips sooo fast. Weirdly, it also seems to dry really slowly for such a thin formula.
I couldn’t remember why I didn’t like this, so I gave it a try again this morning. I did nothing after painting my nails that would normally cause chips (no cleaning, etc.) and I already had chips after three hours. It’s really a shame because the color is so pretty and unlike any other polish I have. It’s a deep blue-violet that looks more blue or purple depending on the light, and I absolutely love it. If the formula had been better, I think this is a shade I would have used all the time. Maybe I’ll be able to use it for nail art or something (I can see it possibly working well sponged on, maybe as part of a galaxy look), but as an all-over color, it just doesn’t work well.

Beautiful bright yet dark blurple (bluish purple). It’s pretty unique….most of my polishes are either definitely purple or dark blue, but this one is really in between. I love it during the spring and summer when I get tired of the typical “warm weather” colors. I gave it a 4 rating because it applies rather “patchy” on the first coat; two coats will even it out. It’s very shiny even without top coat.
OPI is a rather pricey brand at $10.50 a bottle, but there are often sales at ULTA and you can use coupons; and they are often at Marshall’s and TJ Maxx for $4-5.

OPI Do You Have This Colour In Stockholm is a bright blue based violet. In some lights it looks a lot more blue than purple but it is a beautiful bright violet shade. It is a creme finish and reaches opacity in three coats. However, I really did not like the formula of this polish. The formula was very thin and watery. The first cost was streaky and sheer, the second coat brought it to opacity but was patchy in spots so a third coat was necessary to even it all out. The polish also took quite a long time to dry on the nails, much longer than the other OPI polishes I own. Despite the gorgeous colour, the issues with the formula mean that I would not repurchase.

I know there has been some discussion about the actual color of this shade and I can see why it has been horribly difficult for bloggers to accurately capture it. I would consider this a true blurple. It’s definitely purple but has such a strong blue undertone that in most lighting situations you could argue it’s either. When I wore the shade, I made a point to ask people what color they would say Stock-holm was and all of them couldn’t answer right away. They would hesitate and say purple, but then most of them would go on to say it was purple and blue at the same time. I agree. In any regard, I think it’s a beautiful unique color with a perfect formula for application.

Gorgeous crème royal purple from OPI’s Fall-Winter 2014 Nordic Collection! It’s vivid and bold, but not too bright, maintaining its classification as a dark hue (darker than OPI’s website shows). I also have Butter London’s Bramble in my collection (separate review), it’s a deep purple, Stock-holm is brighter and livelier, Bramble is deep and moody (I love both shades, but if I had to choose a favorite I’d pick Stock-holm). In bright, natural lighting the blue undertones are really visible, but in low light it looks deeper in color. It’s very easy to wear and I know I’ll reach for this shade a lot. The OPI formula is good; it goes on in thin layers, they dry quickly, and after two days the tips have worn down, with only two visible chips (one of those was my fault, I gouged my nail on a rough, exposed piece of metal on a chair I was moving). My only complaint is that the polish isn’t as densely pigmented as I think it should be. Two thin coats wasn’t enough for opaque coverage, but three coats loses some of the vividness that I love about this color. A combination of one thin coat, one thick coat does the trick, though holding the nail up to the light I could still see streaks. Still, I love the color and would buy this again.

Do You Have This Color in Stock-Holm? is from OPI Nordic Collection 2014. This is the Fall/Winter Collection. This is by far my favourite out of the entire collection and is the first one I put on. The color itself is a beautiful bright violet. It is so bright that I just can’t take my eyes of it. When I look at it carefully, it has tiny a bit of blue undertone but still mainly a violet. So interesting it doesn’t let the blue undertone take over the violet.
The finish is crème and the formula is great. It takes 2 coats to make a complete opaque coverage. Drying time is so fast it literally takes less than 1/2 hour to dry completely. I got so many compliments from wearing this color as it so pretty that you can wear it at night time to a dinner party, to the nightclub or just simply going out with jeans and T-shirts. This color is so versatile that it similar to OPI A Grape Fit but of course, this color is far more interesting as the violet is so unique. I will definitely buy another one for back up.

OPI Do You Have this Color in Stock-holm? is from the new 2014 Fall/Winter Nordic Collection. It is a creme finish. The cool thing about this polish is that the hue seems to look different, depending on the lighting.
In bright daylight, the color (with 2+ coats) is what I would call a dark Minnesota Vikings uniform purple, or a dark crayola purple, or a dark orchid purple, w/a hint of dusty quality to it (just a slight bit muted). However, in the shade *without any artificial lighting*, the color is a very intense and beautiful cobalt blue! I don’t understand how the color morphs, considering this polish is a creme, but it’s unusual, and for that reason, I am definitely wanting to purchase the full sized bottle. If you google pics of this np shade, most will look cobalt (but just remember that the color will probably look more purple most of the time).
Purple is one of those np shades that I seldom buy, because this color tends to make my olive skin look very pale and sallow when I am not tanned. With a tan, this type of purple is not my favorite — warmer reddish plums look better. Having said all that, this is the first true “purple purple” for lack of a better description, that I have really liked on my olive skin (med olive, w/no faux tan at the moment). To be honest, I wouldn’t say this shade is the most gorgeous ever on my olive complexion, BUT I will say that it is the most wearable “true purple” polish I have ever tried. 🙂
Application:
I have a “mini” bottle of this np. I found the polish to be very streaky on the first coat. It was fully opaque and even with the second coat, but it was a bit tricky as the polish started off thin, but then turned thick and gloppy by the time I finished the second coat on my last finger. I am not going to mark down the polish that much at this time, however, since I am hoping this was an issue due to the mini size (the brush was also very small/thin in the mini, which made application a bit difficult).
I will update my review after I have purchased and tested a full sized bottle.
