Very disappointed. I used to love this foundation but not since it’s been reformulated. Horrible coverage.

My HG foundation is the Koh Gen Do Moisture foundation. When I saw this reformulated with more coverage I was super excited to try it.
Let me start by saying, I have mature, dry skin.
I’ve tried this multiple ways with different primers and no primer – alway moisturize well underneath. I even tried to mix some in with the Moisture foundation. No matter what I did, it left my skin looking like a parched river bed. You know that look where every crease, pore and wrinkle is super defined and obvious? Well that was the look I got with this foundation. And an hour or so after application, it even looked worse and dry patches started popping up.
Maybe this works well for those with oily skin but it was awful on me. It’s so bad that I’ll be sending it back as I know I’ll never use it.

Utterly amazing. This is like a filter for your skin. I was skeptical as I like a higher coverage due to pigmentation and sun damage that I like to cover up but even though this is light coverage it does amazingly at blurring out any imperfections. It just makes my skin look healthy and radiant and does not end up looking greasy like a lot of radiant foundations do. It lasts all day, doesn’t transfer and looks wonderful. The only bad thing I can think to say is that it is expensive to buy, and the shade range is poor. But if you can find a match I would recommend this.

This review is for the newly formulated version of this foundation, which I`ve been playing with for a few weeks now. It is definitely better coverage than the old formula: the finish is the same as the old one, a satin finish, not quite dewy, as it claims, not quite matte. It works really well on top of a denser, higher coverage primer (the best one that worked for me was the Kose High Cover Base SPF 50 PA+++). When the weather is colder and with my Kose primer underneath, it lasts really well. However today was like 25C and I`ve worn just a sunblock underneath, and with that it lasted okay (about 8 hours), but after the 8th hour it started visibly fading in my T-zone. It`s a lovely foundation, but for me the key to make it work is that Kose primer. At 45 bucks (Japan price), it`s a pretty decent foundation and I like the new formula in terms of coverage. In terms of lasting power, the old formula stayed on me better. But hey, at least I know a good primer to keep it locked, and at that price I`m happy.
