This is the BEST hydrating setting spray I’ve ever tried. It’s MUCH better than the Smashbox Primer Water, it’s dewier than the Too Faced Hangover spray. Just a couple of sprays after makeup and my skin looks like it drank a tall glass of water. It makes my makeup look absolutely gorgeous and healthy. I’m so sad it’s not sold at Ulta anymore and so, so sad I didn’t get a backup. It’s honestly incredible. Lasts forever too since you need such a small amount each time, and actually has good ingredients. Alcohol free, unlike most makeup sprays.

AHHH!! This. Love. This.
Only complaint off the bat is that it should be bigger but for its price point, I’ll stick to buying three at a time when there’s a 3 for 2 😀
This is such a great little bottle of loveliness. Really enjoy how this feels when I spray it on and the natural glow it leaves once dried down. Makeup that looks a bit powdery after baking is left looking natural and smooth, just skin – my favourite look. If I’m needing some extra help that day, I wait for it to dry a little and then press whats left down into my skin with my beauty blender and it works like a charm!
The no alcohol in it also really soothes my sensitive skin and redness is a lot less noticeable during the day. Love it.
Will keep purchasing this as long as they have it!

I finished a bottle of this “keep it perfect!” setting spray, and I was satisfied with its performance overall. It was okay, not outstanding, but it could definitely work in a pinch. I’d give this 3.5/5 if I could.
I’m not sure if it really helped the wear time of my makeup. However, I do think it helped keep makeup from transferring a lot onto clothes or my fingers.
My primary purpose was to help combat oxidization of foundation, which it was pretty good at. (I find that translucent powder followed by setting spray helps keep my foundation from turning orange, a constant problem of mine.)
I do not think the spray bottle dispensed product very evenly on my face, which occasionally made my makeup splotchy and I had to fix it up with a makeup sponge. The spray mechanism was kind of inconsistent. I do like that the package is simple and transparent, so I knew when it was near the end.
It also didn’t help tone down the powdery effect of – well, of powder, which I often use. I think it performed quite well without powder.
I guess I wouldn’t buy this product again because I found it slightly drying on my skin, which is odd because it’s not even supposed to be mattifying or anything. But it’s decent, and I wouldn’t actively avoid buying this, either.

A cheap and cheerful makeup fixing spray. Small bottle, inexpensive price, unscented, packed with humectants (that those of us with dry skin love) for “setting” makeup, especially powder products by melding it all together without that hairspray feel on the skin. The mister works well although I find this is hit or miss for any spray product. Some like it, some don’t, sometimes you get a dud in the batch. I must be lucky because mine works well enough to spritz just once and get an evenly distributed fine mist all over my face. I wouldn’t call it a setting spray in the true sense and neither does Essence, but it does keep the skin radiant while not taking away from the products themselves, only the powdery or dry/matte look you may get from certain products. Definitely a good fixing spray. If I’m looking for an inexpensive Setting Spray I go with Wet ‘n’ Wild Photo Focus Setting Spray in the Natural Finish (they also have a Matte Finish) to lock in makeup for long lasting wear time.

Mix Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray and MAC Fix+ and you get this product as a result.
First of all, the packaging is not awesome but I love that essence kept it subtile. You can see how much product is left, plus the purple color gets me everytime (I love purple).
I also love that essence knows what a fixing spray actually is (it’s supposed to lock your makeup to prevent it from melting, cracking etc., have a look at reddit, a user posted a useful guideline for fixing and setting sprays).
The spray head does not dispense the product very fine like the Urban Decay Setting Sprays. It does dispense like MAC Fix+.
This fixing spray moisturizes and locks your makeup. It doesn’t have any scent. I feel refreshed whenever I applied it.
As for the effect, it keeps my makeup better in place than without it. It does a good job and my makeup looks less cakey than before. It adds a subtile glow which is nice when I want that. Oil still comes through but this happens everytime on my T-zone.
If you can’t decide between essence and Urban Decay:
All Nighter Setting Spray has a very fine mist which spreads the product evenly.
Keep It Perfect! gives you a rough mist which can lead to some drops on your face. The product needs more time to dry and set the makeup.
UD is more expensive but you get more product and the fine mist won’t waste as much product as the essence spray.
essence gives you less product which will be empty within weeks if you use it everyday but you have to pay less for it.
essence gives you some moisture, which will remind you of MAC Fix+, yet it will lock your makeup for a few more hours.
Urban Decay just locks your makeup without adding any moisture but that is key to keep your makeup looking fresh for a longer time.
If you’re on a budget, try essence. If you have the money, you can decide which product suits your expectations better.
My verdict:
I still prefer my UD spray since I feel it does a better job. It locks my makeup and it makes it look less cakey without the need of moisture.
essence gives you a few more hours if you use it after your makeup is done but UD tops this with even more hours.

This actual spray on this product is intense. I have to stretch my arm out as far as possible and then spray – even then, it is still an intense spray.
The product itself it great. I’ve tried tons of other sprays, although it’s not the best, it beats some of the more expensive sprays. it sets your make up very well and melts everything beautifully.

Gives a lovely satin finish. This spray evens out my makeup base and tone, making it look seamless. Extends the wear of makeup, is still looking good and even at the eveningtime. My oily forehead & nose tend to get oily, this can be also used after blotting and adding some powder.

A little help for making make up last more? And on the cheap side? Count me in!
Through the years I correctly learned how to powder for getting the most out of my foundation and, most of all, my eyes. For a person with oily lids, powder is the best friend. I never considered a setting spray but when Essence released this some months ago, for just about 3-4 euros, I had to try it.
It’s a very practical bottle, that can easily fit in the beauty bag. It releases the correct amount of the glycerin liquid, and well, that’s that. It gives you what it states: if you do everything correctly, this will give you extra 2-3 hours of make up perfection, which is not bad if you’re going to face an important day with a full face! It dries immediately and didn’t break me out.
I really can’t compare it to other products as it’s the first spray in my possession. But for beginners, this works and helps! Give it a try!
