I was looking for a natural mascara and bought this product based on the reviews here. The product dried out quickly and became thick, clumpy and hard to apply. Once on, it flakes off around my eyes by late afternoon.

I love this mascara as a primer for other mascaras. It doesn’t hold it’s curl, volumize, or lengthen enough for it to be used on its own for me.
ON THE OTHER HAND, 😀 It helps them apply smoother, the lasting power, and the effect it gives to my lashes.
Definitely not a mascara for the dramatic lash people out there. Although layered, it’s really nice.

Based on the some of the reviews here I was hopeful when I purchased it (on sale thank god) but this.does.nothing…at all! If you’re going for the “no make-up” look, this is the mascara for you! I got blackest brown, which was on the browner side. I have straight lashes (do not curl them, too lazy) and as others have noted, this will just kind of hang on your lashes. After applying 2-3 coats per eye, I was still left feeling like, “why did I bother?”
Basically if you want an EXTREMELY subtle look, or if you have light colored lashes you want to darken, this might be the product for you. Otherwise, skip it.
P.S. No irritation issues to report.

I have to disagree with the others here. The wand pulled out mascara that was gloppy and a huge amount of the tip I had to wipe off. Even with all this, it didn’t apply well and had to do it several times. It dries well but my eyes seem to have picked up something in this that is irritating. This definitely isn’t WP which I knew but it’s not even water-resistant. That’s a big problem for me and my contact lenses. Oh well, I did want to like this and truthfully, will probably toss.

By far the best mascara that is safe and natural that I have ever used! I have tried about 5 of them. None of them have the brush, staying and curling power, and separating affect that this does. It works just like one with chemicals. I will never stray away from this mascara due to its ability to go on nicely and clump free and look great all day. My only complaint is the price. It is about 15 dollars for a tiny tube that lasts me less than a month. I use multiple coats but still. The tube is small and once it starts to run low around the 3-4 week it just does not make the lashes look great anymore. I wish they would lower the cost to 10 dollars because this is definitely one of the more expensive mascaras. I switched to this from the 100 percent pure mascara.

It took restocking my makeup bag with natural, safe cosmetics to find a mascara that I can finally say is HG for me. I’m amazed!
I’ve gone through both high-end and drugstore mascaras by the dozen in the past couple years, desperately trying to find the right one for my thin, sparse (but oddly long) lashes, and none of them really did it for me. They’d have to be layered one on top of the other, or they’d do the job but then flake everywhere. And let’s face it – they’re loaded with chemicals that probably contribute to my eyes’ sensitivity.
So my good friend had this mascara in her bag, which out of curiosity, I decided to poke through. When I discovered this, I asked if I could take a look at the wand. (I’m VERY particular about mascara wands.) It’s the standard bristle type, but not so densely packed that it looked like a cylinder, so I figured it would be pretty defining.
And boy is it ever.
I went the next day and nabbed some at the local health food store that I frequent regularly and immediately tried it in the car. Wow. My lashes were darkened, defined, fluttery, and not sticky or crunchy. LOVE!
The wand is lovely – it separates and fans out my lashes beautifully and grabs each one, coating it in mascara.
One coat leaves my lashes defined and darkened. Two coats leaves them fluttery and full. Three coats, if I dare go there, leaves them bold, thick, and dramatic.
It doesn’t smudge or flake throughout the day (even when my eyes tear), but it also doesn’t require a demolition crew to remove.
Absolute LOVE!
EDIT: This actually works almost identically to the Zuzu Luxe mascara, which is from the same parent company (Gabriel). I’m hoping it doesn’t have the same effect after a couple weeks as the Zuzu one, though, because that one caused my lashes to come out on the brush. Here’s to hoping!!

Overall this is a pretty good mascara. I think I want to try the ZuZu Luxe mascara just to compare. This is a pretty simple mascara. I like that it washes off easily, doesn’t clump & doesn’t make my lashes crunchy. My favorite natural mascara so far.

I am trying to transition to all natural cosmetics and mascara is the one I’m most worried about. I have Asian eyes that tend to look closed and eyelashes that point straight down to the floor so it is really important for me to curl them, and because of the shape of my eyes I need something smudge-proof. (I used to think I needed waterproof, but that was because I over-used moisturizer due to my dry skin.)
I know there is a trade-off to going natural and I don’t expect that it will perform like the chemical laden mascaras, but I have been pleasantly surprised. It is definitely smudge-proof. I started out using it on just my bottom lashes (I use brown on the bottom and black on the top) and it didn’t smudge at all.
So now I have purchased black to use on my top lashes. It doesn’t really add any volume, it just coats and darkens the lashes. The big problem I have with it though, like some other reviewers, is that it definitely straightens. It’s not that it doesn’t curl them – it actually straightens them.
So pluses are that it’s natural and smudge-proof. Negatives are that it straightens. If you have naturally curly lashes I think this would be an excellent choice. I will definitely continue using the brown on my bottom lashes, but I’m still trying to decide if I will continue using it on the top. I’m just not sure how much more I can expect from a natural product.

Simple clean mascara, lightweight and no clumps even after months. Smudges a little after a few hours on more humid/rainy days. (but that largely depends on undereye moisture)

I love this mascara. So smooth, Not clumpy. Easy to remove. I like simple mascara and this is it. It puts a nice simple layer on your lashes. If you cry it won’t run, it will just get kinda flaky and those flakes are easy to remove.
