I think this is a typical cozy, winter by the fireplace fragrance warmed up by tonka, lots of it. It is well-rounded i general which makes it less exciting than many other members of this family IMO. I like the idea behind this genre but Modern Muse Nuit is carved into my olfactory memory with a very strong tonka reminiscent of 80s male perfumes unfortunately. It opens with citrus and camomile on my skin and it is supposed to have a floral (I think floral-oriental) heart of jasmine, camomile and heliotrope. Alas, on my skin I get very little of the first two and the heliotrope combines with amber and something else, smelling like vanilla and maple syrup. It is not suffocatingly sweet, and it is indeed quite pleasant but the woodsy notes attack makes Modern Muse Nuit quite unbalaced on my skin. I think this is a body chemistry issue, Estee Lauder florals work with me, Estee Lauder woods do not. The same thing happened with the Sensuous series where I got lots of newly sharpened pencils, and here the same thing happened. I can see how this could be a cozy, purring fragrance on some but on myself I find it quite uninteresting with the aggressive tonka combined with indescript woods. I get a similar cozy winter fireplace vibe from D&G The Only One, and will carry on enjoying that. Best left for others to enjoy. Very good sillage and good lasting power though.
