This product does not work! I used the hairprint shampoo one week prior to applying the dye, after several hours, two rounds of repeating the exact procedure in the included instructions, my hair is essentially the same.
I had to redye my hair using Hena. Will never purchase any more. I also doubted about how natural the product is based on my observation of the paste changes. There must be some chemical catalyst there

Update February 2020:
Use caution in purchasing this product…
This is an update to my original review from approximately two months ago. I can definitively say that I will not be purchasing Hairprint again. It was quite expensive and astoundingly messy to apply. I also do not feel that the color stayed in my hair effectively… it faded excessively within a fairly short period of time and I only washed my hair about once a week to be sure to maximize color maintenance. It is a confusing product as it says it is restoring your hair to its original natural color – but I don’t feel that actually happened for me. I also believe it was rather damaging to my hair. Even though With only one application, I had a lot of hair fall out since using it… particularly when washing my hair. My hair also seems to have a lot of split ends etc now. The general look of my hair is not as healthy as it was prior to utilizing HP.
I had signed up for autoship so ended up with an extra box prior to using the original one I ordered. After applying the product, I realized it was not a process I would like to repeat. Very lengthy, labor-intensive and extraordinarily messy.
I realized that I needed to arrange for a return as promptly as possible as Hairprint has a very strict return policy. The return process felt nearly as laborious as the application of the product. Definitely not particularly user or customer friendly. I did finally receive a refund but my guess is it took at least 3 to 4 weeks from the time I initiated the return request, reaching out to them more than once. Be aware that you must follow their instructions to the letter to be able to return the product and I am doubtful they allow a refund or return on any opened product – not absolutely certain of that, but it seems I may have read that somewhere on their website. At any rate, I recommend caution in purchasing this product for many reasons – both the ones I mentioned above & others mentioned in my original review below.
Going back to henna!
****************
First of all, I am brand new to using Hairprint, so I only have very limited experience with it so far.
I ordered the “hairprint plus” kit which includes an extra application of the restore powder & liquid – & therefore, involves one additional application of that part of the product. I am writing this review here as I cannot currently find a place to write it on the Hairprint website.
The good: I just applied this product yesterday and I am pleased overall with the results. I have a very large percentage of gray hair and had grown out my roots to about 1.5 to 2 inches. This product managed to color (or “restore color”) to most all of my roots/gray hair. Success! Yay! (I did apply the product to all of my hair which has henna in it – but I have not colored for 3 months prior.). If it had not been successful, though, it would’ve been exceedingly frustrating since the process took a long time and was quite “labor-intensive”. And messy does not begin to describe the experience…
So now for the “bad” ( certainly not good !)…
As I just described above, application process was extremely lengthy with a lot of hands-on work for the majority of the time. It was also astoundingly messy this time and there are some stains in my bathroom that I still need to address and pray that I will be able to find a product to remove them ! I am an experienced henna user so I am familiar with a potentially messy hair dying application process. The pure henna (indigo, etc) is certainly not the easiest color to apply, but I find the henna process to be exceptionally easier than applying Hairprint. Even with time and experience with this HP product, I still believe the time involved, the labor involved and the degree of mess potentially is far more than I want to deal with again! With the HairPrint Plus Kit, there were 5 steps involved prior to final rinse & condition (a 6th step) – 4 of the steps include actual application of the color restore products – The first step is applying a highly detoxifying shampoo. The entire process took me about three hours… I am frankly amazed it did not take me longer.
Another aspect of the application which was unexpected and definitely not a good aspect is that I experienced a burning or stinging sensation when applying the restore product (3 times). Apparently, I must have some sensitivity to one or more ingredients in the product (or the combination of ingredients) – fortunately, I have not experienced any other adverse affects at this point, but do hesitate to utilize the product again.
I had already ordered a second kit from them, so I may seek out a hairstylist or certified hairprint salon for that application – or I may more likely decide to return the unopened kit for a refund – particularly with the experience of the burning/stinging sensation during application!
I have not fully washed my hair since applying the product, so I do not know how my hair will feel after a full shampoo and condition. At the moment, my hair does feel on the dry side, though not awful. After reading many of the reviews here that appear to be from longer term users of HP, I feel additionally reluctant to continue use of this product… Especially after experiencing sensitivity to it.
Likely, I will return to utilizing a Henna/Indigo option – I just need to find the right balance to cover my gray and achieve the most desirable color. Though henna can have a few drawbacks, it is for me much easier to use than hairprint and at least during the extended time of leaving the henna applied, I can still do many things around the house with ease. Henna can be a bit messy as well, but I find it much less messy than HP and only need to apply it once rather than requiring multiple applications.
I hope this review describing my limited experience with HairPrint can be helpful for someone considering trying it!

Like many other reviews, I wanted Hairprint to work. When I first started using it several years ago, I was telling everyone I knew about this product. I loved the color. Then, I started to slowly notice that my hair seemed thinner. I called Hairprint and they assured me it wasn’t their product. I so badly wanted this natural product to work. I kept using it. And my long thick hair, slowly turned to thin, dry, brittle hair. My hair started breaking off. Now, my hair is much shorter, multiple lengths, and severely damaged. I am a cosmetologist. I used the product correctly and only on my roots for touch ups. This product has completely ruined my hair. It will takes years to grow back. Run!

I am surprised about all of these reviews and wanted to share a counter experience. I almost never give reviews but felt the need in this case. I have been using HairPrint for …hmm….maybe 2.5 years now and truly appreciate the product.
The mess and time is no joke, no joke at all and there have been times that I thought…this is it, no more …but honestly, mostly I feel it is worth it.
Different than others, HP leaves my hair thicker and soft. The texture after the pretreatment (baking soda heavy) does leave the hair feeling different but post treatment wash and condition and everything is back to normal.
the color is a rich dark brown for me and my natural color. It doesn’t turn black for me. It lasts around 4-5 weeks and fades out gently for me so I don’t get that harsh color line ever. It is nice and natural. I love it. It does not completely cover the grays but I don’t mind. Lady in her 40s here…it has the overall brown look with grey turning into highlights.

I used to have thick, healthy hair. So much so that my stylist had to thin it periodically with a razor. Now my hair is breaking uncontrollably. It’s so bad that my hair was shorter three months after my haircut. My stylist was flummoxed.
Now I have to pin my hair back all the time because the breakage is so bad. I have two clumps of 4-inch long hair on either side of my head, while the rest almost touches my shoulders. I am furious. I didn’t want to believe that it was due to hairprint, but after reading other reviews I am pretty certain. I went to the doctor and she said my blood levels were fine and didn’t see any health issues.
It will take years to grow my hair back to an even length. I have chunks of short hair and straggly longer hair. I contacted the company and they said they’ve never had anyone complain of breakage, which is entirely untrue according to these posts.
I will NEVER use this product again. I can only hope that my hair recovers.

I think this product would be ok despite the setbacks such as time, mess, etc that other reviewers have posted about. Your hair is dark…very dark after using this product. The first few times it came out pretty good. But despite using their special shampoo before the application and using chemical free paraben free shampoos, wearing a hat to protect my hair and keep the sun out of my face, not washing it every day…after about 4 uses my hair started to appear bleached and was incredibly dry and brittle. I have NEVER had this problem before. These 4 uses were spread out over nearly 2 years so it wasn’t like I was overworking my hair. I just don’t think this product is good for long term…I simply would not begin using it. I am now slowly cutting all of my damaged hair off.

At first, I really wanted to be impressed by Hairprint. Their site is very glossy and convincing and I was looking forward to trying the product for my husband who has about 60% grey and has never coloured or processed his hair. There are definite pros and cons regarding Hairprint for Men: Pros: it doesn’t smell and the instructions are clearly laid out. Cons: Expensive for what it was. The colour was too dark then faded too quickly, especially with the grey hair. I was surprised at how quickly the colour faded. It is extremely messy and stains pretty much everything it touches. I also ordered one for my mother and admittedly she had been perming her hair for years. Her hair was about 70% grey. Even after following instructions to the letter, the colour simply didn’t take at all and just looked like a drabber version of her natural colour which was quite disappointing. All-in-all, the results were too inconsistent so I wouldn’t order it again.

I have been using Hairprint for 3 years, I was never happy with it, but I was feeling stuck as to what I should use instead/
These are the negative points I experienced while using Hairprint:
1. Made my hair dry, hard and brittle. My hair would break off all the time.
2. Made my curly hair straighter (curly girls take note!) and with less body and volume.
3. Unbelievably super messy. Ruins clothes. If I ran my fingers through my hair my finger nails would get dirty from the colour.
4. The colour never took on my hairline in the front. When I started using shampoo soaps, it took better though.
5. The price was too expensive.
Recently I felt brave to try something else when I found Green Hare Mud. It does not have hydrogen peroxide or ammonia. Its a permanent plant stain. The colour is amazing – much more natural coloured than Hairprint, and it takes 100% on my hairline. I am very satisfied with Green Hare and I am so happy to be rid of Hairprint. Seriously, I dont know why I used it for so long.

Does not reverse. *Obviously” and stains the entire bathroom and won’t stick on grey hair , colouring just the rest.
And drys and breaks the hair.
Horrible.

This product is a big waist of time and money. I wanted to get a natural hair color and I believed the “science” behind this product. 40 bucks and almost 2 hours later was proof it was a sham. I am disappointed, guess I will have to learn to embrace the gray. Save your money for something that works, this product does not.
