I’m back on this account after years of inactivity because I feel so strongly about how AWFUL this product is. I was very excited to try it–couldn’t wait to get the Glossier skin advertised so widely on Instagram. The packaging is very pretty, I love the smell, and I actually love how the product feels on my face. But that’s where it all ends for me. I noticed right off the bat that this product didn’t get rid of all of my face makeup. Oh well, I thought to myself. It’s a gentle cleanser, makes sense that I might have to put in a little more elbow grease.
Nope. After just three days of use–and despite the fact that I’d wash my face multiple times, WITH my Shiseido brush–I ended up with dozens of clogged pores all over. Now I’m left trying to clean up the mess. It’s extremely upsetting because my skin was doing so well right before I used this demon cleanser.
If you’re dead set on using this, be very, very careful and spot test on a small spot underneath your jawline for a few days. That way you won’t be left with a battlefield on your face.

I really love this product!

I like and have repurchased this cleanser. It is very gentle, does not make my skin feel tight after washing, and actually removes all my makeup (even waterproof Stila eyeliner!) IF used as directed. Which means, applying directly to dry skin and massaging, then adding warm water and massaging around some more before rinsing.
It has a very strong rose scent from the rose water, but I actually like that. One bottle lasts me about 6 months of daily, one-pump use. If you want something like this but are on a tighter budget, Cetaphil does work very similarly for makeup removal and I’ve heard Elf has recently come out with a very close dupe. But, I enjoy this cleanser enough to continue using it myself.

Milky jelly cleanser is really great if you are looking for a gentle cleanser to use at night. It removed non-waterproof makeup. I personally prefer the milky oil cleaner, but this is still a good product if you don’t want to put oil on your face.

Makeup removal and cleansing is a one-step process for me since I started using Milky Jelly. At night I rub it on dry skin, over my whole face and neck, and around my eyes (including lashes), and my makeup and sunscreen both dissolve. I rinse my face with water, pat it dry, and my skin is completely clean. This does not break me out or leave my skin feeling tight. A little goes a long way, and it’s so easy to use it makes washing my face a pleasure. This is also nice on wet skin, in the morning, for a quick refresher. Even my DHC Cleansing Oil, which I used for over a decade before switching to Milky Jelly, did not dissolve makeup as well as Milky Jelly.

Lovely gentle cleanser – used morning and evening after micellaire water – the best cleanser I have found for my sensitive combination skin.
4 lippies – I removed for packaging which is a bit rubbish otherwise it would be 5 lippies

Pros:
Gentle even around eyes – I remove eye makeup first though!
Does not break me out
Does not dry out or increase grease production
Not too expensive (I use 1 pump only per use and it lasts me 2-3 months)
Cons:
Packaging! Plastic and small bottle only – a bigger bottle would be much more eco and more value for money
Packaging no. 2! The pump does not go to the bottom of the bottle – there is still plenty left when you can’t pump any more out
A little expensive however the best cleanser I have found so I will continue to buy

Nice cleaner for mornings, I don’t feel this is strong enough to remove all my sunscreen before bed. Love the super slick texture. I feel that the price point is too high for what it is. Put as a would repurchase since it is a fine cleanser but in reality I would only buy this of the price went down. There are equally good cleansers that are cheaper and more easily accessible.

I love this cleanser. A very basic, mild cleanser that doesn’t break out my sensitive skin. I love that it doesn’t sud or foam up, usually foaming cleansers dry out my skin. I find that this really hydrates my skin, I will always repurchase this!!

blah, doesn’t cleanse my makeup off at all, and I generally use light makeup (powder, sunscreen, etc). my skin that doesn’t break out at all, yet it started to clog and develop little spots from the residue makeup that wasn’t removed. wouldn’t purchase again even if it is cheaper.

I will be buying this cleanser again, but there is something you guys should know if you have never used it.
First of all, it will not dissolve, lift and absorb all of your makeup and grime (sorry, Glossier! it just doesn’t). It works great as a second-step cleanser though, so once you’ve used your eye makeup removing oils and what not, use one-two pumps of this rose-water gem to further cleanse and soothe your skin. They call it a “conditioning” cleanser for a reason, so if you have a drier skin type – look this way.
I have a fear that I might go through 177 ml relatively fast, but I do not mind it as long as the formula doesn’t change. It is also safe around eye area and for that alone it gets A+ from me. I have a detailed review on this and many other Glossier bestsellers here (, hope it helps those of you interested in the brand!
