Have used eye makeup removers from many brands, some drugstore and some high end (lancome, clinique) but this is the one i always come back to. Good value for money and removes everything without causing any irritation to my eyes or eye area. It feels slightly oily but then yet to find one that doesn’t. Best to leave this on for a few seconds as it works much better this way compared to just removing the makeup with cotton pad immediately. Highly recommend it.

I should write a review on this item as it has been my go-to eye makeup remover for the past five years or more.
I have sensitive eyes and I am a contact lens wearer. I use this on a cotton round and keep it on my eye for a couple of seconds and it does an excellent job of removing all of my eye makeup with two swipes. It does leave an oily residue so I go over my eye afterwards with my Spectro Jel cleanser.

I’ve repurchase this 1000s of times. It’s the best eye makeup remover hands down. It is gentle but so effective and will even remove waterproof mascara. I have super sensitive eyes and this doesn’t sting them or make them water at all. I will be a loyal consumer of this product for as long as I wear a smokey eye (which will be forever).

This did not work for me. It would not remove Benefit’s “They’re Real” at all, and I did not have much luck with Lancome’s Monsieur Big waterproof, either. Those were the only two I tried, because those are the two I am currently using. I actually threw this remover away, because after about a week of trying to make this work, I was so mad that’s about all I wanted to do with it. I hated it. I did try holding the cotton pad on my eye for an extended period of time, too. That did not help much at all.

This isn’t as good as the Cover Girl waterproof eye makeup remover I use, which is creamy and I softly rub it around, wait, and tissue off. This just doesn’t break down the WP mascara that well…I use it after using CG to remove whatever remains– all NON-waterproof eyeliner/mascaras. It’s complicated when you use BOTH WP and non-WP products for sure, and you may need two different formulated products to do both.
Edited: the success of this product may depend on the qualities of the WP mascara you use….In general, though, I find that WP mascara REQUIRE an oil based formula to remove. The claims of this oil-free makeup remover “removing even waterproof mascara ” are overstated, IMHO, as it took at least 4 times with this product to remove WP mascara…Too much—too long, IMHO.

I usually double cleanse using a cleansing oil first, so these removers are not my sole plan in removing eye makeup. However, I love to have these around for when you need a little extra clean up. Maybe you still have a smudge of darkness after cleaning or you messed up something doing your eyes and need to fix quickly and easily. I have used this for years and finally decided to give the Lancome one a try. It killed me to lay down that much money for exactly what my Neutrogena does, but I wanted to try it. If the Lancome was the same price, I would choose it because it does leave less of a residue and I liked the controlled release better. However, other than having to dab the eye dry before moving on when using the Neutrogena, performance wise, there is no difference. Lancome has better packaging and slightly cleaner formula (in the sense of residue). All that said, I will not be repurchasing the Lancome. I am flying through it and it is not cheap. I would much rather use the less expensive option in this case because the $25+ more dollar price tag for the Lancome is just not worth the packaging and slight formula improvements. If the Neutrogena had the same dispenser as the Lancome….there would be no contest…I would go straight to Neutrogena. I like the smaller squeeze hole to lose less product that the Lancome packaging has.

After reading many excellent reviews, I thought I would try this and see what I was missing out on. So I splurged. (Yes, this is splurgy for me at $10 cad for 162 ml vs $9 for 400 ml of Garnier micellar).
Sadly, it seems I wasn’t missing out at all. This is no easier to use, does not require less product to remove waterproof mascara, and seems to leave behind a greasier feeling film despite being oil free.
The lid also isn’t as good – no smaller apereture to squirt through. So, after a bottle of this I’m back to my og.

I have used this for years and have never had any issues with it.

This is a great eye makeup remover = tug free!! Very gentle on the delicate eye area and it removes every trace of makeup. I highly recommend!
guiltyChamois1
Works great! Leaves the eye area super smooth and silky soft. Removes mascara effortlessly without needing to rub aggressively.
similarSnail8
This is an absolutely great product. It works so well. I have never tried anything like it before. It removes my eye make up so easily without having to scrub hard. Because I have very sensitive skin, this product doesn’t sting or irritate my eyes like other eye make up remover does. I will definitely recommend this other.
offendedApricots4
This is the best – I mean the best eye makeup remover. Some mascaras are just like “tar” on my lashes and this product on a warm moistened cotton pad works wonders!
superiorDotterel3
I have been using this (black cap bottle) for years. I have sensitive combination skin.
Note: I don’t believe in buying from only 1 Make-up company. I use items from any company that is reasonably priced and if they work great! If not I will not buy that item again.
Before I found this remover I quit wearing make-up. It was too much work and some removers took off eye shadows and foundation but left my mascara all over my face. Or they made my eyes burn and swell.
This doesn’t sting at all unlike many removers I’ve tried. So many pros about this.
The only con I found is it feels oily until it’s washed off.
panickyLapwing4
OMG! This is sooooo good. Definitely a hidden gem. I have no idea how it takes my waterproof eyeliner off so easy without oil! I touched my eyelid just now…. It’s not greasy. This is gonna be a staple product for me.
holisticDoves6
Good price, and the bottle is quite pretty for something cheap. As an eye makeup remover, I found it drying. There are also eye makeup removers at the drugstore that remove makeup off more easily. I will not repurchase.
boastfulMacaw6
This does not remove my eyeliner or waterproof mascara. I ended up trying three times with cotton pads, then following up with Kleenex, and then I still have smudges on my pillow case. It also irritates my eyes, making the corners red. I will be throwing this out.
ardentTacos0
I have bought several bottles of this and am still buying it. It cleanes effectively and leaves no oily film. Definitely one of my favorite products.
solidCaviar6
Surprisingly, this stuff is amazing! I’ve used so many different eye makeup removers that left either a greasy film behind or just didn’t work. This is the only brand I buy now!
obsessedEagle2
I love this brand so much I use lots of there stuff..I where dark eyeshadow lots of the time and this stuff takes it off easy and better than any other off like brands I get mine at walmart and I all ways use the makeup remover brand love it (I have sensitive skin it don’t bother me )
ashamedCrane0
This has always been my favorite eye makeup remover. It does not feel oily or greasy. It removes my makeup so easily.
scornfulTuna7
This did not work well at all. I didn’t like it, serious underperformer.
bubblyChamois8
This was an ok makeup remover for the price! Nothing amazing, but similar to Lancôme Bifacil or Clinique Sensitive or Marcelle sensitive, but for a fraction of the price. If you don’t need anything fancy, give it a try!
excludedTermite1
I haven’t tried this Balea makeup remover, but I really like Balea Makeup Remover Oil-free Pads! They leave my sensitive eyes completely clean, with no burning and no scratching! I purchased them at online store BG Choco Shop for $2.99.
empathicWeaver8
This is definitely my HG and I can not understand all the negative reviews.
I like it much more than the version with oil.
I have very sensitive eyes ’cause I am wearing contacts and I am using this for 8 years (at least, I do know exactly).
I tried many other brands, but nothing can even come close to this.
I literally use it to take off my eye makeup while my contacts are still in!
No burning, no scratching, it leaves my eyes completely clean, without any residue (even though I am often using hard-core stage makeup & waterproof mascara).
It feels like water a bit & it is incredibly cheap as well.
cautiousLollies1
Worst makeup remover I’ve ever used. Stings my skin, and could not even clean regular eyeliner. Really want to throw it away
dearAbalone2
It’s cheap. In every sense of the word. It burned my eyes and I have never had that happen with any make up remover. It barely removed my eyeshadow (which was a nude shimmer so hard to even say if it did) and didn’t make a dent in eyeliner or mascara and I had to scrub hard to get even a little eyeshadow off – not nice on the eyes at all.
eagerSmelt3
Vaseline works better than this.
This will be a bitch to use if you have heavy eye makeup on. It can’t even get rid of all the eye liner. I literally have to use vasiline to take of the eye makeup, then use this product to take off the vaseline. You get what you pay for I guess.
murkySmelt9
I swear by Balea makeup remover (bottle, not wipes). I wear contacts and have quite sensitive eyes; I don’t wear waterproof makeup, please note. This formulation leaves no greasy residue – no residue of any sort – and never stings or irritates me. It removes my mascara and concealer and shadow easily, effectively, and quickly. I have to get mine in swaps with friends from Europe, as I don’t live near enough to Canada to hit the Shoppers Drug Mart, sadly.
amusedThrushe1
Update: leave pad on eyes 10 sec before wiping off for best results. Otherwise mascara will possibly stay put.
Good points:
Package says GENTLE Oil-Free fyi. I shook it up, wetted a cotton pad and wiped off eyeshadow, primer, mascara and eyebrow powder. No irritation and I have sensitive skin and eyes. It felt great.
I got a good schmear of the eye shadow but….not the mascara. (Essence False Eyelash Effect.) I could see the color of my eyeshadow but no inky streak from the black mascara.
Now this mascara has been a bit hard for me to remove, hence getting an eye makeup remover rather than using 2 step cleansing or just facial cleanser, neither of which was enough.
Bad points
Until I washed my face well after using the remover, and got the “raccoon rings” of mascara that the cleanser deposits below my eye, two or three swipes with that cotton pad and remover did NOT touch my mascara. This is not a waterproof mascara, either. So truly, the first wipes of the cotton pad and Neutrogena Gentle Oil-Free remover did not touch my mascara.
I wetted another pad and it easily took off the rest of the mascara and I then washed my face to remove the remover (again). Did fine
I’d buy this anyway because I like that I woke up the next day without eye irritation and that greasy, drip-in-the-eyes-film feeling but this is not as effective at removing mascara on the first go-round than I’d hoped. If you are doing makeup and want to remove EVERYTHING and start over, for example, I would not suggest this unless you have a warm wet washcloth to follow up and then do it again. It’s just not that strong.

The Neutrogena oil-free eye makeup remover is in my eyes a fantastic remover as I don’t need to rub hard around my eye area, and it will take off waterproofed mascara.
I just would wish that the opening wouldn’t be so large as you can spill too much product which you don’t actually need! But not really a negative point 😉 I also leave an oily residue on my skin even if it’s oil free which is a bit weird and probably the only real negative point!
I use the eye makeup remover on cotton pads and then hold it onto my eyelid for a bit and then remove it! It’s so easy, and it doesn’t irritate my eye area as this can be pretty sensitive and getting red so quickly!
I have to admit that because it removes my eye makeup so easy and I don’t need to use too much product, I love using it for the rest of my makeup as well. Now, this is something that you decide on your own whether or not to do it, but I believe that if it’s safe for your eye area, you can use it for the rest of your face makeup as well!
All in all, I love the product and I give it 4 lipsticks!

Pretty greasy to be oil free but I always end up coming back to this because its cheap and it does the job. doesnt sting the eyes and doesnt have a strong smell. Ive tried clinique, lancome, chanel, missha and they all work the same, honestly. Just the greasiness level differs, but since i do clean my face with a cleansing balm, i really dont mind the residue. I do a double cleanse too. This takes off my makeup and false lashes just as good as the others ive mentioned. Theres no need to spend more for a makeup remover imo. I like the cleansing wipes by neutrogena also!
i usually use this for spot cleansing when i mess up my eye makeup or if i am taking off my fake eyelashes. I rub a drenched qtip on the band and it just slides right off after a couple of seconds.
Edit- been using Elizabeth Arden all gone instead and its much better

The best eye makeup remover I’ve ever tried. I always go back to this!!!! It takes your makeup off so easily.

This is an excellent eye makeup remover! My mom used to sell Mary Kay, so I would get this from her. I can’t tell you how many bottles of this stuff I have gone through. I like using something like this on days when I wear heavier eye makeup or waterproof mascara that I know my micellar water won’t remove. All you have to do is shake the bottle, and saturate a cotton pad then hold it on your eyes for a few seconds and swipe away! No rubbing required, which is totally awesome. I usually go in with a second cotton pad to get rid of the excess but all I need is three cotton pads to remove my eye makeup totally. Best of all, this never irritates or stings my eyes. Like others have said, it can be a little bit oily but all you have to do is just rinse your face afterward and you’re good to go. Nothing takes off eye makeup like this stuff, but unfortunately it can be pricey and hard to get unless you know someone who sells Mary Kay.

By far the best eye makeup remover on the market. I do a lot of crafting and I dye my hair often. This can also be used to get rhinestone glue and hair dye off of your skin. It also works to take makeup stains out of silky shirts. Great product, I love it. I’ve had at least 7 bottles of it.

I love this product ❤️ At first I was Kinda mad about the fact that it said It was oil free and all that other stuff.. It does feel and look oily But It works really goodie doesn’t bother me anymore .. One swipe and Bam All my eyemakeup Is gone .. Everything including waterproof eyeliner .. I’m going to continue buying this .. I’ve never tried any other product that works as good as this one !

*I’m talking about the one that says compare to l’oreal. not the one that says compare to neutrogena*
*I’ve used the equate eye makeup remover that they compare to the neutrogena remover and that is good (neutrogena eye makeup remover is great)
the one that says compare to l’oreal:
HORRIBLE
DO NOT BUY
I quick grabbed this while I was in walmart in order to save a trip and I am so so so disappointed.
This did not remove my mascara and it just dragged around my eye shadow.
I ended up tugging on my eye area which we all know is a huge no-no, and it did not even remove all of my eye makeup!
I ended up pouring it down the drain.
I don’t regulary reach for the equate line at walmart, but this is the first time it has let me down. there are reviews comparing their facial cleanser with the green packaging to clinque, I buy their tylenol, etc.
in my experience, the equate line (ie makeup wipes and other eye makeup remover) has been a small step below neutrogena. I’d purchase equate when I didn’t have a neutrogena sale/coupon and I’d be content.
buttttttt this was absolute crap.
I looked in the bottle and maybe it is because it’s not the eye makeup remover that you have to mix first…
this was terrible. horrible. very disappointed. if it was this option or nothing I would choose nothing.
excitedOrange2
This stuff is terrible. I poured it out after several days of trying to get it to work. Removes nothing, especially not mascara.

I just finished off a bottle of my highly loved Neutrogena Oil Free Eye Makeup Remover and thought I would pick up and try a few more economical brands to search for a substitute. Balea happened to be one of the two brands I purchased at Shoppers Drug Mart on sale for about $6 for 120ml bottle. It claims to “gently remove eye makeup without irritation” and is “enriched in pro-vitamin B5.” I do like that it doesn’t sting nor burn my eyes, but it really isn’t that great at removing eye make-up overall and doesn’t make a budge in water proof makeup. Overall I’m personally disappointed and wouldn’t repurchase.
