I work at HSN and my team was raving about Magic Finish. A few of them said how their teenage daughters kept taking theirs. It just reminded me of “grandma makeup”. Well, we had it on sale one night with free shipping and 6 flex pays so I figured why not. OMGOSH I LOVE THIS! No sitting and putting concealer on and then foundation and then powder. One and DONE! It makes your skin look really healthy and natural.

This is an incredible foundation with an unusual, fluffy whipped texture. If you like Philosophy’s “the present” this is a foundation you should try, for sure. It “blurs” like no other product I’ve seen, and it dries to an invisible matte-powder finish. It fills in pores and fine lines flawlessly, and it looks like skin.Magic Finish comes in only one color, which is claimed to “self-adjust”. When first applied it looks too light and seems to have a white cast, but within 2 minutes it virtually disappears. My guess, based on how it looks on me, is it would be best for light/medium-medium/tan skin. However, I’ve seen this demonstrated on shopping channels and they use it on models with a range of skin tones from fair to deep. It certainly seem to work on all of them. I’m not sure this actually color “adjusts”. I think it provides an amazing finish, not unlike a primer (think Philosophy the present), and, just liked tinted or color-correcting primers/concealers, the pigment is spread out enough on skin to add a touch of oomph to the transparent finish. The effect is that skin looks even and flawless. There are two things that keep me from saying this is perfect in a jar…for me. One…it’s highly fragranced. It has a sweet, perfumey-rosy scent that can be smelled for awhile after application. It’s not unpleasant, it’s just annoying, becauseI never know if an essential oil is going to irritate my skin or not. (I can’t use lavender oil, of all things, which is in SO many skin care products). The second thing is that this is basically a ball of silicones with a couple of minerals. There’s nothing in it that could be considered “skin care”, which is fine, because I use my own sunscreen and antioxidants, but concentrated silicones give me awful breakouts. I can use this foundation for a day without any trouble, but on day two, the lump-like cysts erupt from beneath my skin. I’m pretty sure far more people are not sensitive to silicones than are, so this isn’t a negative about the formulation in the least. (However, if silicones bother your skin, be warned). The texture of this foundation is outstanding, so I think anyone looking for an easy, skin-perfecting foundation should give this a try. It’s only around $30.00, which is quite reasonable for foundation, and a little goes a long way. If you don’t like jar packaging because you think the product will “spoil” faster, there’s really nothing in this that’s going to go bad or weaken any time soon. It really is a ball of silicones. It’s not messy at all, because it’s not liquid, and it won’t spill from the jar unless you turn it upside down and shake it. It would come out of the jar like a glob of jello. I have purchased this a couple of times, despite the potential for breakouts, because I really, really love how this looks and feels on my skin. It’s like you have to see it to believe it…your skin transforms before your eyes.

Just to warn you that this product caused me to have a severe allergic reaction which was extremely scary and led me to be prescribed antibiotics. I had excruciating itching, swelling, extreme tightening, white spots and then a very unsightly yellow encrustation on my face and neck. There is nothing on the box, etc, to say that this might happen.

I saw this product a few times on qvc but never wanted ti order. As a pale girl (mac nc 10-15, bobbi brown 00) I dont trust color adjusting products!! That always looked awful on my skin!
My Sister got magic finish in a set of 2 pots and the moment she aked me to try – and I smeared the dark looking mousse on my face – I feel in love.
My skin: fair with warm, yellow undertones, very oily t-zone, very large pores on the sides of my nose, large pores on t-zone, freckles I dont want to cover, redness, a few scars from pimples as a Teenager, dark circles but dry undereyes with a few fine lines.
Claims to be:
Primer: I dont always use primer with this product, applied with clean fingers this blurs my pores better than most primers I have tried! For special occasions I layer a primer ( ud optical illusion) under it for a extra bit of bluring and longevity.
Foundation: fair people should stop at light to Medium coverage – it gets to dark for me if I use more product. But I wanted a product that perfects my skin without cover up my freckles and this magical pot does exactly that. Covers up my redness and smaler imperfections with no problems.
Concealer: I love it under the eyes. It evens out my dark circles without emphasize my fine lines. I have no concealer that does look as lovely on me. I sometimes use my pixi corrector under it. Dont need more.
A breakout will be to much for magic finish. I would recomend something to spotconceal.
Powder: the matt finish is beautiful! Normal skin can go without powder on top. My oily t-zone needs to be powdered to stay on for a few hours.
The color adjusting is limited I have no problems as a fair girl but very taned beautys will have issues with the color.
When used over primer and under powder and settingspray this will last a long time on me without getting cakey – longest I have tried were 20 hours.
If you dont expect this to be a fullcoverage Foundation but more a skinperfector you will love it.
For me it is HG. No need for another Foundation.

Still my HG and I play everyday with it and test it with different primers, brushes, etc.
I get the best results with the everyday minerals flat top BABY kabuki. Much prefer the baby over the full size and all my other brushes because it is sooooo gentle on the skin but buffing things out perfect without gettig caky. Highly recommend!
When I take my time I use magic finish with the real techniques setting brush arround the eyes but the baby kabuki works fine to.
I tried the maxfactor facefinity primer with it and got even better covarage and staying power. Love the combination.
For powder I love to use a super fine powder (Shiseido) and press it on with a puff.
When it fades and I am very oily and sometimes dont use powdee on top and wear This at least 10 hours – it ALWAYS fades with grace! Never looked cacky not even super close in natural light!

I see this makeup cream as a CC makeup. It doesn’t cover that much BUT it makes your skin look healthy (without makeup I always look like I’m sick 🙁 ), at least in my case. People won’t recognize that you’re wearing makeup. I can’t imagine that fairer or darker skin tones will enjoy this since this makeup doesn’t turn into your shade after application. I use this after my moisturizer, and oh wonders, I don’t need a primer for this. I always needed one, no matter what foundation but when I used primer under Magic Finish it turned out not so smooth. I recommend trying this before buying.

I had heard rave reviews about this foundation, and so I purchased 3 sample sizes online.
When I first tried this on bare skin I was blown away by the finish – matte but natural, medium coverage, perfect color. I am NC15 and was extremely skeptical about how this dark orange mousse could match my pale skin. But after a couple of minutes it was indistinguishable from my skin color. I kept checking my face in different lights to see if there were any darker patches but it was perfect.
For reference, I have a very oily nose and chin, and dry cheeks and undereye area. I have fine lines around my eyes, but I used this under my eyes and it blurred my fine lines and also provided coverage of my dark circles (I would still need to wear concealer though).
But….it doesn’t last in humid weather! This had become shiny and disappeared after just stepping outside for a minute in the Florida weather. I know this isn’t supposed to be long-wearing, but to have it disappear so fast is a real disappointment especially since the finish is one of the best I have ever found in a foundation. I dabbed my face to remove moisture, and all the foundation came off. Such a shame as I loved this product and would have given this HG status.
If you live in a cooler climate (and have dry skin) then I would very much recommend this foundation, but for me this is not a repurchase.

I can’t ever seem to find a foundation that doesn’t make me look older than I am, until now. I had given up on liquid and powder foundations and was using an airbrush product. Although it looked good, it’s time-consuming and you need to buy several colors and mix them to get a good match. Airbrush foundations can be expensive. I have fair/light skin tone, and Magic Finish looks dark coming out of the jar, but in a couple of seconds, it turns to the perfect shade. It covers, without being greasy or drying. Try it, you’ll be pleased with the results!
2018 Update – still using Magic Finish and love the coverage
