Not sure why all the horrible reviews. The packaging is crap, once you flip the cap open and pour some out into your hand it gets everywhere. A pump style dispenser would be much better but this is such a thin oil that even that might not help keep it controlled. This is an extremely lightweight oil, the texture of this is so thin which makes it easy to absorb very quickly, something those with thinner hair might appreciate. The scent is a little strong for my liking but it’s not that bad. While it’s not my favourite hair oil, it’s not horrible either.

This product goes very well with my “thick” damp hair. I usually give it a try before blow drying it but letting it soak in my hair for 5 minutes first. I would give a rate of 5 (maybe) if the “drop” had a pump or something because it gets a little messy sometimes. Overall I kinda like it.

While staying with my sister I used some of her hair products and fell in love with this oil. After applying a couple of drops to damp hair and blowdrying I was sold. This makes my hair so shiny and feeling healthy I had to get my own.I think the trick is to use it just before blowdrying and not mixing it with water. Actually like this better than original and overpriced Morracain Oil.

This treatment is more like a sticky gel substance rather than oil. I tried applying this in wet hair, dry hair, diluting it in water and rubbing it in my hands and applying to wet hair, tried again in dry hair ….then it went in the garbage. No matter which way I tried it left my hair feeling weighed down, dirty, and gross … I really didn’t like sticky hands after applying . Would not repurchase and would not recommend

this is the worst thing i have ever tried! I love the Live Clean line, but this i hated. its nor even an oil, its stiky :/ and makes hair so dry…
pacifiedFlamingo9
This product lathers and feels like a crappy conditioner. Don’t understand how this is argan oil? Didn’t know oils lather. Whether I put this on dry hair or damp hair it feels like soap. It has this gross consistency and makes me want to wash it out as soon as I use it. This product just really pjssed me off lol.
adoringHyena5
This product really didn’t do it for me. I followed the instructions, and used 2 drops on my just-out-of-the-shower hair. I found my hands were sticky afterwards, which was a little weird, since this is an oil-based treatment. When I rinsed it off my hands, it almost had a soapy texture. Strange, but I was willing to wait and see results.
I have thin, fairly light hair. If I put in too much product, my hair gets stringy and clumpy really fast, and it’s immediately noticeable. That’s what happened with this product. It made my hair look grungy, sort of what it would like if I hadn’t showered in a few days.
Curious, I went online to read some reviews. A few bloggers mentioned that the ingredient list on this product was unrepresentative. Listing ‘water with argan oil, olive oil, etc’ makes it impossible to estimate exactly how much of each of these oils is present in the treatment. Furthermore, the next main ingredient is sorbitol, which is a sugar-based alcohol. On a few long-hair forums, it’s described as moisturizing, but I attribute the stickiness to the sugar as well.
Overall, this product works in a way very different than advertised. Instead of being moisturizing, it seems to have a lot of hold. That’s probably great for people with curly, thick, or coarse hair, but it can easily overwhelm the texture of finer hair. I was prepared to give it a 3/5, but the ingredient list put me off a little too. I know that real argan oil is incredibly expensive, and I wasn’t expecting miracles, but I’d be much happier if this brand just listed its ingredients in an order that actually reflects their concentration in the product.

Argan oil has been good to my 3c/4a hair. I mix with jojoba most of the time but it moisturizes better than most leave-ins, and doesn’t leave my hair too greasy, especially compared to other natural options. I stopped using conditioner and just apply a half dropper to my hair after showering. I usually wear my hair in a protective style so I haven’t had to really style with it – I would want something a little more creamy for that. Bought it from Trader Joe’s. I like that it doesn’t seem to make my skin break out the way coconut oil does.
gleefulLeopard2
For hair, this is like a silicone serum without the silicone. ‘Nuff said really! Shiny, glossy, smooth, silky hair. I was about to give up on hair oils altogether before I discovered this stuff. Coconut oil makes my hair straw like, other oils just sit on top and make it greasy. Worth the hype honestly. Use like you would a silicone serum and be amazed!

UPDATE 04th November 2019:
Currently using glycerin/water on my face and then argan oil. Skin looks healthy, a bit glowy and I haven’t seen a pimple for weeks! (Note: I’m on a no-makeup-trip.)
—————
I used to use coconut oil for hair, face and body. The smell is delicious, yet it is not the best oil for me. It makes my hair look greasy (hair mask, or after washing my hair) and not healthy. And if I used only a tiny tiny bit it doesn’t show any long lasting effect but the greasy hint on my hair. I have long hair, so I used it on my lenghts only.
On my face it feels like a greasy film. Plus it clogged my pores and so I got more acne.
I researched a bit and found a comparison “Coconut oil VS Argan oil” (there are a few on the web). Argan oil always wins so I ordered a 120ml bottle. It is pure, unrefined argan oil.
Coconut oil is nothing compared to argan oil.
It makes my hair look shiny AND healthy, not greasy (but you can overdo it though, mind that). I feel like I use an elixir from heaven! Plus the effect lasts much longer than coconut oil.
I like to use it on my lips, undereyes and eyelashes, too. For the rest of my face I switched to Jojoba oil.
I do not regret switching to these two oils (Jojoba oil is wax but they still call it an oil). My skin looks better, my acne heals much faster (in combination with Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay) and my hair looks so wonderful!
If you have problems with coconut oil or any other oil, I recommend you to try Argan/Jojoba oil.

Here’s a story about how argan oil saved my dry-to-the-bone chapped lips.
I also have very dry acne-prone skin and I’m in the second month of a course of Accutane. Even before I started the Accutane my lips were dry from the cold weather, but since I’ve been on it they have been a peely, bleeding, crusty, chapped nightmare. I slathered on so much lip balm but to no avail (I tried aquaphor, vaseline w/aloe, various lush ones, and Elizabeth Arden 8-hour one). I even stopped wearing lipsticks because they all looked so bad and accentuated all the flakes.
So, on a whim I bought some Woolies brand 100% pure argan oil from my local winners last week (on Accutane there’s no such thing as too many oils). I slept with it on overnight, all over my face and lips with some added aquaphor on the lips. Lo and behold, the next morning my lips actually felt like my normal lips again for the first time in weeks! I don’t have to reapply lip balm every 15 minutes at work anymore and I can actually wear cream lipsticks again! So my new lip routine every night: elf hydrating drops then argan oil and then aquaphor to seal it all in. It’s long and complicated but so worth it.
As a face moisturizer/occlusive I was impressed at how fast it sink in. It isn’t quite rich enough for overnight as I wake up with slightly parched skin in the morning, but it’s awesome for daily use. It hasn’t caused any acne at all, and goes well under my foundation and primer.
puzzledBurritos7
I have dry to normal acne prone skin, i get closed comedones pretty much all over my face that are a real pain to get rid of. Most oils break me out but some don’t, like hemp seed oil, safflower oil and rosehip seed oil. All of these oil have a low rating on the comedogenic scale, hemp and safflower oil have a 0 rating and rosehip has a rating of 1. So i thought as long as i stick to the oils with a low rating i will be fine, argan oil has a rating of 0 and since i heard so much about it, liquid gold etc, i decided to try it. I made a mistake by introducing this oil together with other new products in my skincare and makeup routine, so when i started getting more closed comedones than i usually do, I blamed every other product but this one and removed them from my routine, thinking this couldn’t possibly break me out, it has a 0 rating. But i soon realised that this oil was the culprit.
So i stopped using it on my face and started to put the oil in my hair. I used it as a mask before i wash it and a little bit on the ends of my hair after i blow dry. Ive used moroccan oil before and it was great, left my hair silky smooth and healthy looking. And considering that argan oil is the key ingredient i thought i would get similar results at a much cheaper price-tag. But i was wrong, it left my hair feeling stiff and hay-like, but at the same time very greasy, it didnt absorb well at all. What gave me great results with the moroccan oil was all the silicones the put in there.
In conclusion I just want to say that do not trust all the comedogenic scales and natural skincare blogs, just because it says it has a zero chance of breaking you out doesn’t mean it is true, the research is limited and they have probably not tested on all skin types. This oil like many others, is not for everyone, but by all means try it for yourself, considering loads of people swear by it, but be cautious!
side note: I used organic coldpressed argan oil imported from Morocco, it was a little bit on the pricier side, the company is called organic makers. Just incase if anyone was wondering.
empathicOcelot9
I love it as a night mosturizer, I put it before I go to sleep and I wake up with nice plump hydrated skin.I also love it as a hair mask. Before buying make sure it’s only ingredient is cold pressed argan oil and nothing else.

I am not buy this product on future, I am waste much more money of this products, but no one any solution.
wornoutRuffs3
Love the packaging of this brand. The scent is amazing too, never too heavy and I think it has to do with their organic ingredient sourcing.
My skin loves this product. It is one of the best quality argan oil I have ever tried. I also used many of their products so hope to take the time to review those too next.
Texture is not too greasy, absorb quickly and leaves my skin with a soft velvety feeling. I wear this mainly in the evening and the next morning, my skin looks radiance and super glowy. Love it!
exactingGatorade2
I bought this because of all these reviews. I have mature normal skin which is dehydrated slightly on cheeks.
This oil does absorb well or gives that impression… apparently it is a dry oil
My experience was that it is not moisturising enough and my skin felt parched
I currently use macadamia oil which suits my skin so much better!…I will stick with this for now!
Argan oil … its a no from me!
mercifulWhiting3
This is a high quality and hence, an expensive argan oil. It is ECOCERT certified and comes in a 100 ml bottle that lasts a really really long time. Mine has lasted for 2 yrs now and is only halfway gone. Works well on body and hair but didn’t suit my facial skin and caused pimples. But, that’s probably because of my oily and sensitive acne-prone skin. People with dry and non-acne prone skin would probably live this. Very healing and moisturising oil that is light yet packs a punch and gives a light soft glow to facial skin. Too expensive and I wish Kahina would make 30 ml bottles as well so that more people can try this product. Unfortunately didn’t work for my skin type, so I won’t buy this again.
artisticCrane4
I got a sample of this with a purchase online, but boy do I have reservations. This argan oil smelled sour! I have tried several different brands of argan oil, my favorite being Shea Terra Organics’ for the price point and the company ethics. I find this oil to be disappointing and extremely overpriced.
somberMuesli0
I feel dumb for buying into the hype. I first saw this argan oil featured on a NY-based blog and the reviews here convinced me to buy it. I use two drops on my face at bedtime and two drops on the ends of my long hair after styling. It has a slight scent, which to me, smells a bit like sesame oil (others may consider it to be a “nutty” smell).
I was expecting this argan oil to be leaps and bounds better than other brands I’ve tried, including Josie Maran and MUAC. It’s not. All argan oil comes from Morocco and most of it’s produced by women’s cooperatives. I’ll use it up because I need a beauty oil at the moment, but I won’t fall for the hype again.
bubblyToucan4
I like using this Argan oil on my hair. When my ends are dry I take a drop or two into my palms to warm it up and rub it into the lengths of my hair. When used sparingly, I find this to be an excellent conditioner, nourishing but not greasy. It is not cheap but since I use so little a bottle lasts a year for me. Great product.
scornfulLeopard5
This review is for the Argan Oil and for the Facial Cleanser.
The argan oil is very light-weight and not very greasy. It is best applied on a damp face and massaged it. I noticed my skin was not oily when I used this is my morning routine. Also, it does not contribute to breakouts. It actually helps acne-prone skin by controlling oil production. I did not see a reduction in blackheads though, but then again Kahina does not market argan oil for that purpose. It did help soothe irritated breakouts as it increased hydration in the skin. The packaging is very chic; dark heavy glass bottle with dropper. It may seem pricey, but I bought mines about a little over a year ago and I still have some left. And the smell is still very much the same when I first received it.
The Facial Cleanser, I am a bit undecided about. First of all, this cleanser is very good for acne-prone skin. It gently cleanses, no stripped feeling after using it and that helps to calm mad breakouts. It does not foam, rather it is a milky cleanser with the texture of a lotion. I did not notice a film on my face after cleansing, but there is no squeaky-clean feeling. It feels like your face is moisturized just right. To the not-so-good: It doesn’t remove sunscreen (physical sunscreen, not sure about chemical). When I was using only the cleanser and the argan oil, this routine was great! It really helped my skin through a bad breakout episode. But when I went back to using sunscreen in the am, in the evenings after using the cleanser, I would notice some sunscreen residue on my face. I tried double cleansing with the cleanser, but same result. I tried rubbing an oil on my face and then following up with the Kahina cleanser but still, my face didn’t feel clean like before. Finally, I had to admit to myself and it just would not work when I used sunscreen (which I want to use daily). On the days when I do fall off the sunscreen routine, I use whatever is left of my Kahina cleanser (my second bottle) or whenever I run out of other cleansers I go back to this. It does remove light eye-makeup though. Not too sure about other makeup.
Overall, I think it is a good value because I still have my first argan oil bottle and I think it took me about five to seven months to go through my first Kahina cleanser bottle (I was using it morning and night although now I think it is better to only cleanse once per day, in the evenings). Also, I think Kahina donates a portion of their profits to a particular Moroccan women’s group for farming and education purposes. Plus, you can reuse the bottles.

I tried another Brand’s Argan Oil , other than this . Both do not have a smell which is very worrying . Argan Oil should have a manure scent . I used both for my hair and face . Did no wonders . But I feel it’s a good and relatively cheap carrier oil to have for its high promoted nutritional effects .
dejectedOrange3
I’m on an argan oil kick…and I have tried many different brands. I did not like this one at all. First off, the smell. Due to the plastic dropper, the oil itself smells like the plastic. I don’t understand why the dropper in this is plastic while the bottle is glass?
This oil is also a lot more oilier than the other ones I have tried. It doesn’t absorb into the skin and just sits on top of my skin. It also broke me out (also due to the plastic i’m guessing).
I would recommend the PF argan oil or the Cocoon Apothecary one. PASS on this “now”.

I had read about argan oil all over the internet, not because I was researching it, but because info about it is everywhere and cannot be avoided. I finally bought some in the health food store. This stuff is a very thin, watery-like oil, and absorbs like water. I was reading reviews about the Josie Maran stuff and was surprised to see people wrote that that oil just sits on top of their skin and doesn’t absorb well. I added some to my lotion mixture, and it makes the lotion absorb even better and it doesn’t feel oily. It makes the skin really smooth too. I tried it under my left eye last night and my regular shea butter/vitamin e/castor oil mixture under my right eye, and honestly the fine lines under my right eye with my regular mixture looked a little better (hence the 4/5 rating). I’m not sure what it will look like long term though, I will update my review later.

I’ve been using this product for the past two years and I am in love!
I initially purchased this to use on my face, in lieu of moisturizer. The concept of using an oil on my face skin was certainly foreign to me. I am so glad I got over my initial fear, because this has improved my skin like nothing else I’ve ever used. For reference, I have combination skin that skews drier in the winter. I first used a very light hand applying this, by smoothing a few drops on my dry patches. Once those “cleared up,” I noticed how great my skin felt and decided to use a thin layer ALL OVER my face. I waited to be greeted by large, angry spots in the morning that never came; just smoother and more balanced skin. I find this works amazingly well on dry, almost gone but not quite spots that won’t go away. Just a little dab does wonders.
I’ve since begun adding a generous amount to body lotion for an extra oomph in the winter and have always used one variation or another on my hair in a blend. But the straight up oil works wonders on wet hair after shampooing, etc to smooth and ease frizz and help detangle. A drop or two soothes dry and cracked cuticles and after allowing to soak in fully, extends my manicures by days.
I purchased my bottle from Amazon, under the Now Solutions brand. I paid around $10 for a 2 oz. bottle and I’ve had the same one for months and months. It comes in a dark brown bottle with dropped and a simple label. Not the prettiest looking bottle but it gets the job done and is more than adequately functional. I will certainly repurchase in the future.

I bought this oil for heat protection for my hair. My hair is oily at the roots and frizzy at the ends. Its a decent oil but somehow I’m not too fond of it. On the hair, I cant figure out how much is the right qty. It always make my hair either too greasy or doesn’t help with the frizz at all. It make my hair very soft when I oiled it at night as a treatment but at 20 Euros its too expensive for an overnight treatment.
I tried it on my face and it didn’t break me out, so thats a good thing, but you really have to massage it in hard to get it to absorb. It leaves a bit of a sheen which gets absorbed by morning, but if you don’t massage it well, you will find it covering your entire face like a greasy film. As a spot treatment, i dab a drop on cystic acne and rub a little. It helps with the pain and heals them quite fast. That’s what the three stars are for.
Hate the packaging, a dropper type bottle is the best because you can take as per your preference. This pump usually dispenses too much so I end up rubbing the extras on my elbows or knees. Its a waste really.
I read many reviews of different Argan oils and people said look for the amber bottled ones with a dropper. I have no negative feelings about this oil but none that are glowingly positive either. I will not repurchase.
soreTermite6
I’ve used rosehip oil for years but I’m quite new to argan oil. I’ve tried a few different brands. Melvita one although pricey is by far the best. I did some research prior to purchase and discovered that proper unrefined argan oil should be golden yellow, a bit cloudy with a nutty smell. This is exactly what Melvita Argan oil is (unlike some others I tried which were totally transparent, clear with no particular smell). This one is very well absorbed and leaves skin very soft and smooth. I put just a drop or two on top of rosehip oil and my skin loves it. Highly recommend!
EDIT: After about 7 days of using this oil on my face I developed contact dermatitis that has been taking well over three weeks to clear. It is really surprising that argan oil is recommended to treat eczema and rashes. Having conducted thorough research I discovered that many people react to argan oil. In fact many dermatologists state that reactions to argan oil are one of the primary reasons why they get new patients. I still strongly believe that this is one of the best argan oils around but if your skin is sensitive test it on a small patch first to see if this oil is suitable for your skin.

I usually use Neal’s Yard Argan Oil for my night time moisturiser, but couldn’t get any recently so bought this one instead. As Argan oils go it’s okay, but for me it doesn’t rival the Neal’s Yard version at all. This has a very distinct scent which the Neal’s Yard version doesn’t have, and once it’s warmed up on my face, it takes much longer to work in to my skin. In addition, I’ve noticed it still lingering in patches on my face in the morning, suggesting it’s not sinking in as well as it perhaps could.
On a plus note, it’s reasonably priced – £20.00 for 50ml (which is good for Argan oil) – and it’s never made my skin react. The pump action glass bottle is also very good quality and dispenses just the right amount of product, but for me it’s just not as good as the Neal’s Yard version, which is what I’ll be going back to once this is finished with.

I had bad experience using melvita argan product….. i try this one and new pimple appear… still wanted to try argan and bought melvita argan plus the new one they release and guess what the bootle was really inconvenient since u really need to make sure the cap is tightly close if not turn out like me, it’s emptied after my first applied…. since i always travel and on rush, did close the cap but not really checking if it really tightly closed…. felt frustrated i try josie maran light argan oil… and it really works for me and i’m loving it no new pimple appear and it really absorb into skin….

Clogged my pores, gave me pimples and made my face very oily. I then used it on my neck and chest and gave me small bumps on my chest. This oil Works for many people but it is just not for me.

great oil, absorb very well. i think it is good for scarring and has good nutrient, it doesnt smell anything which is great. its good for normal to oily skin type, my skin is too dry and this is not enough.

I started using Argan oil about 2-3 months ago, and i dont think i’ll ever stop. I have medium-dark skin, with a fairly oily t-zone, comfortable cheeks and a monthly breakout. My skin has improved with the use of argan oil, especially my acne scars. I have also found that argan oil has helped speed up the healing process after a breakout has occurred. I use argan oil on my cheeks after washing in the morning (i think it adds a healthy glow) and i use argan oil all over my face at night, usually in replacement of a serum. I know argan oil has helped my skin because i recently just ran out and my scars have been more noticeable, as well as a new scar is healing alot slower than before when i was using argan oil everyday. If you want to try argan oil, do not go and spend $50 on a bottle of Josie Maran. I bought a regular argan oil (no brand name) from ebay and have had amazing results. Argan oil is also great for your hair. I havent used it in shampoo yet (i use a drop of castor oil instead), but i do put a tiny drop in my palms and run it through the ends of my hair before styling.
pacifiedDotterel4
Before I say anything: I have not tried this product, if I could just write this note without giving it all the stars, I would, because I have no idea how good it is. I just want to respond to people who are concerned that it’s not organic. ALL argan oil is organic (provided it’s a real argan oil and not diluted or fake). Argan trees grow in wild and since nobody is using it’s fruit (only goats eat them) nobody is interested in wasting fertilizers on them. So don’t worry about that! If has a right smell -avoid odourless oil-and consistency then you can feel good about using it.
mellowTeal6
I have a love-hate relationship with this oil. I love how moisturising it is, the price, and that I don’t break out from it. However, I would prefer it to be organic, so I can benefit from all the antioxidants and goodness of the oil. Another issue I have which lowered my rating by a bit, is the dropper. I love the minimal packaging, and appreciate it, however the dropper is complete crap. At least mine is. It drops way more than I need, so I usually have extra oil and have to rub it elsewhere on my body. Yes, I know. I can just use it on my chest, etc. However I purchased it specifically for my face and don’t want to waste it for no reason.
I put “yes”, I would repurchase, for now until I find a different brand for a good price. I am not sure if its just my dropper, so I would highly recommend you try this oil from MUAC even if you have oily skin, and acne (like I do).
chicAntelope7
I’ve been buying the 4 oz bottles for ages. I try to get them on a sale but I’m happy to buy them full price, too. MUCH cheaper than e.g. Josie Maran. I use it as a hair treatment, not on my skin. It’s GREAT for my dry semi-curly hair and even better since I started swimming again. I put a whole dropper full in my hands, then rub it into the bottom 6 inches of my hair (which is armpit length). I comb through a few times to work it up the shaft and sleep in it. Way fewer split ends since I started doing this 1x weekly.
I’ve never used it for my skin but my friend borrowed it once for a horrible sunburn and she said it was the BEST post-burn treatment she has ever used.
gutturalCoconut4
This was the first argan oil I tried. Used few more from other sellers after that, found 4 times the amount for around the same price, maybe few bucks more, and organic. Not that the price for this one is bad, but just saying I found better deals and better quality oil elsewhere, which is why I haven’t repurchased. However, it’s a nice product, if this is the only place you want to or can get it from, better for moisturizing than their creams anyway. As far as argan oil performance itself, from anywhere, for my skin and hair I recently found better ones, for instance I like Baobab and Hemp more, as well as Sweet Almond, Avocado and Peach Kernel.
spiritedStork1
MUAC packaging is simple and appropriate for their products, but this blue bottle looks fancy! I’ve used this on my hair and face. I had a really dry spot from a chemical peel that just took a while to heal completely and this oil us helping.
sadWidgeon8
I normally don’t like putting oil on my face because my t-zone is extremely oily. However, after doing chemical peels this oil is my best friend. I use this oil after I do a TCA or Lactic peel. After heeling from a peel I still use this oil at night time to moisturize my skin. I also use it on my eye lashes to promote hair growth.
A only need one drop of this oil. A little bit goes a long way.

I love love love Argan oil! My dehydrated, sensitive, acne-prone skin soaks it up and glows after every use. No breakouts. No oil slick.
Immediately after washing my face (and while my skin is still wet), I apply about 8-10 drops and massage into my skin for about 30 seconds. By the time my face is dry and the oil absorbed, I have glowy, supple, moisturized skin. This has been the only way to save my skin from the dreaded flakes and dryness-related lines that can result from my use of AHA and Epiduo. While applying the Argan oil first may render my actives a little less potent, I find that I’m still able to get the benefit of those products while minimizing the dryness and flakiness that would otherwise occur. I’m nearing the end of my second bottle and will be repurchasing my 3rd very soon.

Granted i didnt notice the smell like many did but i didnt notice any difference of my hair skin and face?? I will not buy again. I do think it caused a small case of tiny bumps under my eyeys so I no longer use it near my eyes.
It light to use. Still have put my cocoa butter cream on afterwards. Did nothing for dryness really. Of course this winter been brutal. But even so castor oil does better for my hair and will have switch back to that for once a week scalp massages.

I am a fan of argan oil ever since I was young.. I put it on my face, body & hair. I didn’t notice any difference using this. I love the scent so started using this as my cleansing oil. But it doesn’t really work. I’m not really sure if it’s really worth it.
guiltyJerky9
For years I’ve rotated between moisturizing with Argan, Grapeseed, Rosehip seed, or Coconut oil. Love them all, but Argan is the least greasy, in fact it’s not really greasy at all. Argan absorbs right in, leaves my face so soft, plump and hydrated. It’s great for under make up, and it’s full of skin loving, barrier replenishing ingredients.
I attribute my great skin to the use of oils as moisturizers for the last 12+ years. It’s the only thing I’ve done consistently, and I was super careless with tanning/not wearing SPF in FL for many years. My skin should be destroyed. Genetics only get you so far when it comes to photo-aging.
I have normal, clear skin, sometimes dry/sensitive due to Retin-a, and it causes me no irritations or acne. So I can’t speak for those who may have oilier or acne prone skin.
I love it as a moisturizer. Totally worth looking in to.
*** For those concerned about the smell of Aura Cacia Argan oil: it does smell odd. Like olives, or human diarrhea. No, you most likely haven’t got a bad bottle. It’s just the way this brand of oil smells. From what I understand, cold pressed, single filtered Argan oil retains most of its scent and natural color, which are described as olive/citrus and light golden. Further filtering and refining can remove both of these. If you hate the smell, I suggest trying Josie Maran Argan oil, which is far less offensive than Aura Cacia, at least to me. (But with a ridiculous price tag)
Also, this could be goat-processed Argan oil, which from what I’ve read, can also effect the smell slightly. Because its first been pooped out by goats 😉 Although I’ve read that using goats in the process is phasing out.
I emailed Aura Cacia, and while they didn’t mention any goat aspect, I was advised that yes, there is a pungent smell to their product and the bottle I was checking on was indeed not expired. (I provided them with the lot #).
I’ve since used several bottles of this and they all have that smell.

This is the 2nd bottle of argan oil I’ve bought. The 1st was a brand called New Roots and it didn’t have any scent. This one, Aura Cacia does. It comes in a dark glass bottle with a pump (I wish it had a dropper so I could better control how much comes out), and honestly, it smells like a barn. Yes, it smells like manure. But….the scent fades very quickly, and I find this makes my hair gorgeously soft and helps with frizz if I use it on wet hair before I wash it. If I use after washing, I find my chin length hair feels too greasy. I also started using a few drops as serum on my face and am finding the results to be fantastic. I don’t know why I waited so long to try it. It does not give me acne or make me oily, it’s actually helped regulate my oil a little and helped keep my skin clear and moisturized. The only reason this is not a 5 lippie product is because the pump bottle is annoying and every time I catch a whiff of it, all I can think is “I’m probably putting goat poop argan on my face”. Having said that, I probably will re purchase this as the results are much more drastic than what I got with the New Roots argan, which I can’t understand because I thought all argan oil came from the same source, and individual companies then either bottled it, removed the scent or processed it somehow into other products.

I’m not a fan of it AT ALL. I was looking for a 100% pure Argan oil so I went to my local Whole Foods Market to see what they had. I ran across this Aura Cacia brand. I read the ingredients and all it said was Argan oil so i purchased it for $14.99.
THIS OIL SMELLS LIKE MANURE. I emailed the VP of sales for Aura Cacia, Jennifer Ellis, to find out if this was the way it was supposed to smell (because I read reviews that Aura Cacia Argan Oil has no smell). I still haven’t received a response.
Anyway, besides the awful manure smell this oil leaves a sticky, oily feel to my face like a cooking oil would probably do. ITS HORRIBLE. I wouldn’t recommend this oil to my worst enemy. Buyer beware, I don’t believe it’s pure Argan oil. Thumbs down.

I wanted to wait a few weeks to give an honest review. I’ve been using this every morning and night after washing my face as a moisturizer. I was using Josie Maran’s light argan oil before, but I ran out and was too lazy to drive a couple more miles to Ulta. I just picked this up at Earthfare instead.
So, it doesn’t stink. The Josie Maran stuff smelled like fried chicken. It made me hungry. This has a kind of sweet, very vague perfume-y scent. Not good, but not awful. Doesn’t matter, the smell doesn’t last long so NBD. I’d rub cat turds on my face if it would give me beautiful skin.
After about a week I had a couple pimples pop up, but I decided to stick it out because my period was due soon and I’d already been through 3 bottles of the JM light argan oil with no big breakouts. I’m at probably 3 weeks of pretty consistent twice-daily use, and now I’ve gotten probably five new bumps on my jaw line, one under my nose, one on my chin, cheek, and two on my forehead. My skin was pretty well under control before I started using this brand of argan oil. I believe it to be the culprit causing my face to explode. Ok, it’s not THAT bad, but I’m not messing with it anymore. I’m going back to the stupid expensive JM until I can find something better that doesn’t break me out. You would think by 31 this wouldn’t be an issue anymore. Ugh. Good luck, everybody else! Hope it works better for you than it did for me.

Great oil for the under eye area, not so much for my entire face. I have oily, acne prone skin which can be a bit temperamental at times. Hearing so much about Argan oil and how it’s great for all skin types including oily skin, I decided to give it a try. Two weeks into using it, I experienced a couple of breakouts. Not sure if it was from the oil or my occasional hormonal breakouts, I stopped for a while and returned back to it a few months later. The same thing happened again. I quit using it for my face and started using it for my under eye area.
Now for my under eyes, I love it. I use a very small amount around my whole entire eye area nightly and by morning the skin around my eyes are so soft and hydrated. It soaks in within minutes of application. Be sure to use a small amount. I have no wrinkles, dark circles, or crows feet, but I do have a few fine lines and since using this oil there has been major improvements. I will continue to use it for preventive measures. The fact that it’s natural and doesn’t cause any irritation around my eyes is a definite plus for me. Great natural alternative to irritating eye creams.
::Updated 12/23/14:: I’m no longer using Argan oil. I was using it for a couple of months and while I did love it, I started experiencing little bumps under my eyes. I kind of figured it was from the oil because the same thing had happened when I had applied it to my face. My skin just doesn’t agree with Argan oil. I’m now using Cold Pressed Grapeseed oil as an alternative and i’m very pleased with the results. The bumps are now completely gone and I’m still receiving the same benefits, even better, without the bad side effects.

I don’t know what the heck this stuff is, but it’s definitely not “pure argan oil”. It lathers! What the heck! It’s more like hair gel than oil. It’s clear where any oil I know of is colored. Argan oil is a pale gold and olive oil (which is in this product!) is green. Don’t buy this. It goes on sticky, is a pain to get out, and just makes hair greasy even if you only use a tiny amount.

Hated the consistency, doesn’t feel like a true argan oil. Felt like hair gel. I appreicate the all natural approach, no sulphites, etc. but did not get the results I expected. Made my hair clump and stick together, weighed it down. May work for some, but if you are looking for a fast absorbing, moisturizing, OIL, that can work with both wet/dry hair… this is not for you. Defintely will not purchase again.

So few products actually make a difference in my hair, but luckily this one actually works! It helps my hair dry faster and smoother with less frizz, and its silicone free! Kinda has a weird texture at first, almost like a light gel, but it spreads nicely through wet hair ad a little goes a very long way. I use it on my ends and work my way up a little bit. I really like it.

Argan oil is amazing. Nuff said. I personally use it on my hair to nourish it. I begin to use it after washing my hair when it is almost dry. Then I use 1-2 drops everyday to nourish it gradually until my next wash and the results are beautiful! And i aint even exaggerating.

I have Spring Valley Organic Moroccan Argan Oil Serum, I purchased for about $12 and it’s lasted me about 9 months and I mix it with my body lotion. I used it on my previously pregnant belly, and I got no stretch marks. I put this on my face. in my hair. I use it for everything and it’s great bc it’s not super greasy. The shine it gives my hair is great.

I use this only as a face moisturizer because it is quite pricey even for the small bottle. I do like that it easily absorbs into my skin and doesn’t leave oily residues. 3/4 pump of argan oil on my fingertips is enough for my whole face and I massage it into my skin until it is absorbed. It only takes a minute before it is absorbed, which I find is really great when I’m in a hurry. I will repurchase this in a bigger bottle.

i love love love this line. it’s the best organic line i have ever used. i would highly recommend.

This product has got many uses. I only use it on elbows, ankles, etc and it softens the rough spots and lightly hydrates. I do not use it on my face, it clogged my pores on the T-zone (the oily part of my face), my dry parts were smooth and soft, so I would avoid it if I had oily or combo skin. My dermatologists said that oil of any kind does not sound as a good idea for using on the face because it causes clogged pores and makes your face must more sensitive to the sun (think when you are at the beach and putting baby oil on your body to get a tan faster). She does not believe in the oil tracks oil cleansing method and I agree. For me it can not replace a facial or a body moisturiser because it does not seem to hydrate deep enough. Even though it smooths the rough spots you need to put moisturiser on top to actually moisturise deeply to get rid of the dryness otherwise the dry spots will appear again in a few hours. So if you have not got rough spots you can just use a moisturiser and skip this.
Now for hair I have got oily hair so it is useless for me. But still if you use an oil on your hair and then use heat it will just burn your hair. Thats why in salons they use moroccan oil (which is the same as argan oil) as a treatment or after styling to smooth and eliminate frizz never before using heat.
I will not repurchase because the 100ml bottle will last me for ages and I can easily use olive oil that I get buy at the supermarket for much much cheaper.

This is the BEST of the argan oils I’ve tried. Yes, it is expensive, but in this case you get what you pay for. The bottle keeps out sunlight to keep oil from breaking down. The texture is light, sinks in right away and has a slight pleasant nutty smell. It does not break me out (two of the four less expensive agan oils have). I don’t know if the story of the goat droppings with the argan nuts is true or not, but this does not smell sour or “goaty”. Just like there are different qualities of olive oils guess there is that factor with argan oil. I am buying the 3.3 oz bottle next. There are discounts sometimes for Kahina on the internet. I’ve tried Kahina’s cleanser, facial lotion (both are meh IMO) and toning mist (like but pricey for what you get. The real star of this line is the argan oil!

i love argan oil. i started using it a couple years ago as my only moisturizer and will never go back. it’s simple, clean, effective and does not make me break out. i have sensitive, acne prone skin that can get dry or have strange reactions to various moisturizers.
(in fact, i tested an old moisturizer i used to use ages ago (an organic, unscented one) after using argan for a year or so and it was awful. felt awful, didn’t seem to really moisturize and made my skin go dry and flakey. would never go back to a “cream” again or anything “oil free.”)
i get all types of acne in phases that i can’t ever quite figure out. but argan has been a steady companion and i don’t believe it causes any of my skin issues, only helps. it also doesn’t react to any other treatments or make up which is really helpful. argan is the best thing i have found to keep my skin soft but not greasy. it’s pricey but i literally use 2 drops in the morning and 2 drops at night. a bottle lasts ages.
as for this brand, it’s ok. i find it a bit more “oily” than other brands for some reason. but it doesn’t seem to act any differently so it’s not a big deal.
the main problem for me is that the oil seems to creep up the tube in warm weather and leak…! i have no idea how this happens, but i noticed it on several occasions.

A great, amazing oil. It moisturises body very well, providing excellent hydration and leaving it baby soft. Even though it is an oil, it absorbs EASILY, leaving no traces, so you can get dressed fast. I really love it and it is one of my favourite products from Melvita. It does smell like olive, but I find that Argan oil generally smells like that. A must buy for me all year round.

UPDATE (2013-07): not used in ages, and to be honest, not missed it. Been using meadowfoam seed oil on face and (virgin) coconut oil on hair (on dry hair, left on for 1 hour before regular wash & condition). Both are cheaper, and work at least as But: definitely one (of the many, many, many) plant-derived oils that are worth trying: YMMV as ever; many like it; who knows, you might be another.
Yes, argan oil is fashionable and faddy. It’s an oil. It’ll moisturise. As with all oils, and anything else, YMMV. A lightweight oil, light yellow-gold colour with a slight earthy smell. Similar viscosity, texture, fluidity, feel to oils like sunflower or mineral; not as light or dry as grapeseed, nor as heavy as almond, let alone olive. Features good (in human skin terms) balance of fatty acids and high doses of antioxidants. Melvita has some of the best packaging: a pump-top rather than squeezy dropper; while not completely sealed, it’s airtight, vs. removing the top every time.
QUICK PROS
Does the job of moisturising, without irritation or clogging (YMMV). Good on hair. No clogging or irritation.
QUICK CONS
There are some serious rip-off merchants out there. List of sample prices at end of review. I tested out samples of some cheap ones and some expensive ones; Melvita is around the middle of the price-range. Aside from slight differences in immediate smell–which fade rapidly–the results on skin and hair have been the same. Testing period: nearly 4 months (mid-July to early November).
USE ON SKIN:
Moisturises, but other (cheaper) oils work as well. If other oils haven’t worked for you, worth adding to your list of things to try.
1. Used on top of rosehip seed oil, on any drier patches of skin.
2. Tested out on some minor eczema (stress, work, the usual boring causes): calmed well and moisturised. I used the oil alone, and I also used it under my usual stage 1 eczema stuff (A-Derma): works better than that cream on its own.
USE ON HAIR:
1. Pre-shampoo oil treatment: no difference in results, compared to using other oils. As it’s quite a thin dry oil and I have long fine thick hair, economically unviable. Preferred oils for this: the ones that actually do something useful to hair: avocado, jojoba, olive (coconut works too, but not good on my scalp and neck). But all of these (except jojoba) are too heavy to use on my hair, cos it’s fine; though fine as hair-product ingredients, in moderation. But: argan mixed with olive, jojoba, or avocado works very nicely. Also, cheaper than argan alone.
2. 1-2 drops mixed with conditioner: great: either as a pre-wash (for the condition-wash-condition method, on long hair) or when conditioning or both.
3. A tiny drop just applied to the very ends of towel-dried hair, before usual styling product. From trial and error, I’ve figured out that on this hair anyway that has to be the minutest of teeny droplets; any more and hair greases up. I’d tried this before with other oils, and even the lightest of those that do actually do anything to hair were too heavy and greasebally. Argan or the argan/olive mix has a better finish on my (fine) hair; lighter, finer, more fluid. Bonus: I’ve needed less and less de-frizz stuff afterwards. Now using none: argan alone, or the argan mix, defrizzes. I leave hair to dry naturally, and it’s naturally slightly wavy with some tendencies to frizz. There’s been noticeably less of that. Which means saving money on my expensive anti-frizz stuff.
THINGS TO WATCH OUT FOR
Avoid being ripped off: ALL argan oil is sustainably-produced, organic, hand-crafted, and fair-trade. The trees only grow in a certain area of Morocco, protected by UNESCO biosphere mandate. The nuts are gathered and processed, and the oil produced and sold on, by Moroccan women’s cooperatives (with UNESCO, EU, and SDA support). They have a global monopoly. All the bigger western companies selling argan oil and argan oil-based products buy their oil from these cooperatives, c/o the intermediary of a small number of brokers and shippers. Except for a few small companies–mainly Moroccan and French + some US wholesalers–buying straight from the coops, skipping the intermediate stage and buying cheaper as more directly. In all cases: there’s a markup along the way.
SOME PRICES:
In order of price per ounce. All prices are in USD: CAD tend to be higher (ex. JMO, where USD38.00 somehow works out as CAD50.00) + shipping.
Majestic Mountain Sage: $8.45/4 oz, $15.60/8 oz, $26.00/16 oz = $1.65-2.11 / oz
Mountain Rose Herbs: $17.00/4 oz, $29.00/8 oz, $49.00/16 oz = $3.06-4.25 / oz

Love this oil as a moisturizer. I use it at night and it really helps heal and moisturize my skin. I have acne since I was 10 (no kidding) and oily skin. I use the argan oil right after my chemical peels which are also from MUAC. I use the lactic acid biweekly and the TCA peel 1-2x a year. The argan oil seems to help out my acne as well. Amazingly when I break out a lot from eating bad foods, this stuff seems to help tame it. Previously, I used a $90 moisturizer that did not last very long, but now that I’ve discovered this argan oil, I only use that for the morning or day. I would not use the argan oil for daytime as it’s too oily.

This argan oil is really nice stuff. I’ve been using it as a moisturizer at night and it does really well. I’ve purchased Josie marans argan oil with less spectacular results that stuff I only use on my hair and its not as good as muac product. I’m on my second bottle and I think it’s amazing. Great after mandelic peel. If you have acne get mandelic acid peel from muac it’s a real game changer. Still nervous about doing tca peel but I will definitely use this oil after! Last note, using this on the ends of my platinum blond hair after the shower has sealed my ends from splitting, it’s grown my hair to the small of my back for 1st time in my life got the glory length from using this. Aveda girls can’t believe the phenom condition of my hair when I go in. Seriously best 10$ I’ve spent. Do it.

I’m pretty careful about moisturizers because my skin is sensitive and acne prone. This works for me. I only use it in the fall/winter/spring, because I don’t need moisturizer in the summer. I use it after the shower. I use the dropper and literally put a drop or two in the palm of my hand, then add a little warm water, mix and press it into my face and neck. I smooth it out a little. That’s all I need. Works really well and so far has not caused breakouts.
