Nailtiques Formula 2 Nail Protein really does work!
My nails have always grown but have a tendency to split and crack. For most people, just getting over the awkward length when nails are prone to breaking is the hardest part but Nailtiques keeps them strong and resilient.. they really will grow.
The product directions are to apply daily for a week to start and every other (or every couple of) days every week after. Remove and start over again each week or so. There is no need to remove with polish remover, though because after a week it simply peels off quite easily in one piece (in my experience). I’ve been using it for at least 2 years and now just apply once or twice a week.
It works best when applied to hands/nails that are clean and dry with no lotion, cream or oil.
Nailtiques works well for weak, splintering nails (fabulous if you have just had acrylics removed) and you need to strengthen the paper-thin nails that are left. Or if you’re just hard on your nails.
Price? Nailtiques isn’t cheap. Especially considering that it’s applied fairly often. But it does work well so it would likely be worth it for those who need to strengthen their nails. A more economical solution would be Nail Tek.

This stuff is amazing for strengthening nails – 5 out of 5 for sure. My nails started peeling and were so soft I couldn’t grow them over my fingertip or it would indefinitely break. After first application when I pressed down on my nail it didn’t flex like it normally does. I’ve had so much success with it that my nails are now beyond my finger tip and I can wear dark polish without my fingers looking stubby!
The only reason this lost a star is that although it says it can be used as a base/top coat my polish chips off so quickly. My polishes never changed and could last me at least a week with my other base and top coat, but I’m lucky if I even get a full 24 hours when I wear this.
Even though the chipping is a negative it wouldn’t deter me from buying or using this product. I am so happy with my nails being long and not breaking that I already started recommending it to my friends! On another side note there is formula 2 and formula 2 plus of this brand – I almost accidentally purchased the plus version, but caught myself. Wanted to highlight that because I am unsure if the plus works the same as this one!

I used Essie Treat Love & Color for a couple weeks and it destroyed my nails. They were all peeling and breaking at the sides. I had to cut down to the moon and start over. I read such great reviews that I purchased some of the Formula 2 Plus. I cannot believe how well it works! I did not expect it to work a miracle, but I feel that it really did. I applied it once per day, one coat on top of the other, for a week, then started over. My nails grew to above the tips of my fingers within a couple weeks and I did not have one nail break or tear during that time. I then switched to the basic Formula 2.
I wanted to keep using this, but also paint my nails. The directions say you can use this as a base coat and a top coat, I think. I’ve been using it as both and I have never had nail polish last so long without chipping or peeling off. I mean, I can go almost an entire week without the polish chipping or peeling off. I usually apply another top coat every 3 days or so.
I’ve always had a problem with my nails starting to peel after using polish for a couple of weeks. Even though I’ve tried many different base coats, nothing helped. However, this has completely eliminated that issue. I can now remove all polish and my nails are still in great shape, no peeling!
I’ve read that no nail polish product can actually improve the health of your nails as they grow, but I swear mine are now stronger, do not peel anymore, and look more pink and white (healthier) than ever. I am sold on this stuff and would recommend to anyone.
Side note- I’m sure most of you know this, but something I never knew until recently is that prolonged exposure to water is very damaging to the health of your nails, causing splitting and peeling. If you are washing dishes or doing anything with water for a length of time you should wear gloves. I can’t tell the diff. in the health of my nails, because I’m using the Nailtiques, but I can see a huge diff. in how long my manicure lasts.

My nails have been peeling & splitting for a few years now. I blame their poor condition on the acetone soaks from removing glitter. I had heard good things about Naitiques formula 2 so I decided to give it a try. I figured since it took years for my nail quality to go down it would take months to repair. I bought a 3 pack ($17.52 per bottle). When I first started using it my nails continued to chip. I wound up just putting a coat on every day and only removing once per week an starting over again. I have been using it for 58 days. I have little to no peeling or chipping and I have free edge for the first time in several years. I highly recommend this product. Yes it is a little pricey, but it works. That makes it worth every penny to me,

My nails were getting really weak and breaking due to washing my hands so many times a day (I work in health care). This definitely strengthened them!! I will say if you reapply a bunch of times (I was putting it on everyday) it starts to peel off. So you almost need to take it off and restart after a while

If you have peeling, weak, soft & bendy nails, this product is for you. I started with Nailtiques Formula 2 Plus when I had peely nubbies and my nails grew out with no peeling or breaking. I switched over to this formula because it’s slightly less expensive. It’s been working well to keep my nails peel free. If you’ve tried other nail strengtheners in the past (OPI, Malava, Sally Hansen, Duri Rejuvacote etc) and it hasn’t worked for you, give this one a try. It bonds to your nails and protects them from coming off in sheets like mine did.
Also, a fair warning to those prone to peelies, DON’T buff your nails. I did a round of nailtiques a while back and once my nails grew out healthy I started buffing them. BIG mistake – I got peelies again. Buffing actually weakens your nails. So just keep that buffer away people!

Great product. I am hard on my nails and they were constantly breaking, tearing and peeling. I didn’t see any improvement with vitamins or supplements. Formula 2 has really helped. I do get periodic breaking, but the peeling has stopped which was my big issue.
The company states that for best results, “apply one coat per day without color polish. As nail condition improves, decrease application to every other day. If wearing color polish, apply Protein Formula #2 as a base coat and then apply polish.” I do this, but when I have polish, I also apply a coat of this on top of the polish once a day or every second day. It has made my polish last two weeks without chips. Essentially, it feels like a strong gel manicure.

I bought this product a few weeks ago to help heal my nails from 2 back-to-back SNS powder manicures. My nails have never felt healthier! I have always been a nail biter and broke the habit thanks to that SNS polish, but I knew I couldn’t keep that habit at bay if my nails were brittle and unhealthy when I removed the polish. This nail protein has saved my nails! I apply once daily still because my nails were so fragile previously. The price is a little steep, but well worth it for the results. It dries quickly and looks lovely on bare nails. This is the first nail treatment that has worked so quickly! I will continue using this product and will try the other products in this range as well.

This is the best nail hardener I have tried so far. I had splitting, thin nails… it was impossible for me to get them long before they broke in layers. I tried everything to no avail. I found this in one trip to the US in Target (I live in Mexico) and I thought I could try it.
Seriously. Buy this. Less than two months later, my nails are growing long and strong. Also it goes on smoothly and works perfect as a base coat for my weekly manicure. Dries in seconds. I have bought it two times more already and just ordered it again.

This is great.
It dries in a few seconds and I saw a big difference after a week of using it. I also use apricot nail oil on my cuticles from Essie. My nails look healthy and feel stronger. I use every other day or so. Awesome product!
