I bought this product on a whim from M and S as I had a very irritated neck which was not calming down with my usual Cicaplast Bäume. It looked a bit like eczema which I have not had before.Within 24 hours of using this serum my neck irritation and completely gone and the bumps and red raised spots some of which had bled had disappeared almost completely. After three days you would never know there had been a problem. I also gave some to my husband after he had shaved and had an unusually red neck. The redness subsided very quickly. I am definitely going to keep this product and buy another when it runs out.

The entire Trilogy Very Gentle line has turned out to be a perfect fit for my very sensitive skin, but the serum in particular is a standout to me. I find it very calming, soothing and hydrating but with a tightening effect, too (due to the aloe) and no excess oil – so perfect for daywear underneath my Elta MD UV Pure SPF 47. I use it PM, too – underneath the moisturising cream from the same line.
I’m always interested in skincare technology from both sides – synthetic and more natural-based and from all the products I’ve tried (from SkinMedica to Cerave to Eminence etc.), it really it just a matter of what works for your skin type. Some people can tolerate complex and high ingredient count products, however my skin cannot.
I’ve streamlined my “treatment” products to just one – Shani Darden Retinol Reform (retinol for age prevention, lactic acid for non-irritating exfoliation). I keep everything else super-simple, gentle and nourishing. Standout products I’ve discovered from much trial and error: Trilogy Very Gentle line (the serum being my favourite), Eminence Stone Crop Gel Wash, Cerave Moisturising Cream, SkinMedica Replenish Moisturising Cream & Elta MD UV Pure SPF 47. If you have super-sensitive skin that reacts to everything, I highly recommend the aforementioned.

This is a very, very disappointing product by Trilogy. Actually, I HATE. I think I just hate it more because the name of the product, Very Gentle Calming, is very deceiving. Wow, blatantly awful for my skin. Again, my skin is super sensitive, acne prone and easily clogged up, quite oily and yet would feel dry after being in an AC-room for many, many hours during work days. This serum does not work on my skin at all, not in cold temperature, and definitely not under the heat and humidity (I live in a tropical area now). When I first put it on, it felt fine, the scent was also quite gentle and nice. Then, my face started to feel warm. THEN that prickly feeling on my face, then the itch just started all over. I have tried this product numerous times, with the same reaction on my skin.
For a product that claims to be gentle and calming on the skin (!!!), this product absolutely does not work on my sensitive skin. I do NOT recommend this product at all.
