Okay I want to start this review with addressing the main issue. This oil smells so horrible! Obviously this is going to be up for debate depending on who is using the product, but I physically could not stand it on my face. The combination of tea tree oil (which I normally enjoy in mild doses) and black cumin was so freaking bad! I thought I could deal with it but applying it on my face was horrible, I had to strip it off my skin with a cleanser because I couldn’t stand it.
If you are sensitive to fragrances, or just have a functioning nose and sinuses – avoid this product!!!!

This did NOT work for me at all. I struggle with occasional cystic breakouts and had heard good things about Sunday Riley’s products so I figured why not give it a try. I used it twice (once at night and once the following morning) and by the end of that day my skin was rough, red, and burning. The texture felt as if it was sandpaper and even simple moisturizers were painful to put on. Luckily I didn’t use it that many times so my skin isn’t as red as it could be, but it does look like I have a slight sunburn. While this may work for others, it unfortunately has caused me much more pain and, consequently, led to issues that were never there to begin with.

I have oily combination skin that suffers from occasional cystic acne mostly around my cycle. I purchased this oil on Sephora’s website during their 20% sale for ROUGE members. Normally, this oil costs $80 for 1.18 oz which is extremely pricey. It comes in a green glass bottle with a dropper which feels very luxe and sturdy. I bought this with the intention of keeping the cystic acne away and fading the scars that were already there and visible. I’ve been using it for a few months now and can honestly say that it helps with the cystic acne! I use it only at night have not had the large, painful pimples. The only pimple I’ve had was small and came to a head right away. As for the scarring, I really don’t think it does much to help with that. I guess I’ll just stick to vitamin C oil and microderming to get rid of my scars. The oil does what I really wanted it to do, but the only reason I give it 4 stars is because the stench is awful. It smells like somebody drenched me in Italian herbs, but the scent dissipates in ten minutes. This is the reason why I only use it at night because I don’t want to go to work smelling like that. If you’re familiar with facial oils, you know that they take a really long time to finish. The price of the product is extremely steep, but I expected that from Sunday Riley. If there’s one thing I am willing to spend money on, it’s skincare. I personally find it to be worth it because my cystic acne was really horrible and hard to manage until I started using this.

I’m 35 and I’ve dealt with acne since I was 13.
I have finally, thankfully learned that magical product claims and magical thinking won’t cure the condition of acne asides from the big guns – in my case, tret, and a suitable skincare routine. I’m done chasing the aesthetic of brands for perfect skin because they simply do not deliver for me.
Sunday Riley is seductive. Like a mean girl clique you want to belong to, with sleek packaging and selling the hope of helping breakouts. Seems good and beneficial in theory, ingredients are ok on first glance. But on my face lumps, bumps, all in strange places, and nothing good came of use. I can’t say I hate the smell of the oil, because it is unique and herbaceous in its own way, nor do I hate the texture, which was admittedly hydrating and didn’t contribute to dryness. But it did nothing for acne and made my situation far worse.
When skincare brands sell their products as rare unicorns in terms of effectiveness and desirability, I can absolutely say that drugstore Cetaphil in its humble petroleum and mineral oil base did more good for my skin than UFO ever did, at least that doesn’t make me pizza faced. And holy god I am not $100 poorer buying drugstore if it doesn’t work for me as with the case for purchasing UFO.
Please attain generous samples before buying these expensive products. It simply is not worth it to buy, try and hope, hoard unusable skincare, and try again with the next high priced product. Especially with brands that have questionable ethics when it comes to marketing and delivering on claims.
All the best on your skincare journey, and I hope you have better results should you try UFO than I did.

Unfortunately, this did absolutely nothing for my skin. Considering the price tag, makes that suck even more. This did nothing for my pores and oil production. It, also, did nothing for break outs. I liked the cool green color tho. It did feel nice when applying it but that’s the only good thing, I’m afraid.
Pros:
Felt nice when applying
I like the color
Cons:
Zero results
Price
Packaging
I will not buy this again. There are better products with better price tags.

I love using this oil for my breakouts, as both a spot treatment and all over treatment. It has cleared up active acne faster than any other product I’ve ever used, and a little goes a very long way. I knocked off a star due to the price and overwhelming smell. I’m always paranoid that I left it open because the smell permeates the bottle like no other product I’ve ever tried. It doesn’t seem to irritate my easily irritated face, but if they could cut down on the scent that I still smell hours later, that would be fabulous.

The Pros:
The packaging is lovely. If you are a fan of a specific aesthetic, it will lend itself well to your vanity. It has a lovely herbal scent. It gave me a little boost of moisture and felt lovely going on.
The Cons:
I saw an increase in acne flares while I was using this product. I used this product for almost 2 months. I was looking for a reduction in breakouts primarily around my chin and neck and saw none. I used the entire bottle and maintained the rest of my cleansing routine. The only change to my routine was adding this oil. It has been two weeks since I finished it and my skin has calmed back down to pre-UFO levels.
I would not recommend this product, nor will I be repurchasing it.

So Sunday Riley has apparently been ousted as posting fake positive reviews to encourage people to buy their products.
That might explain why I never understood the hype or got the supposed benefits of some of their products ive heard people rave about. Shame.

Made me break out like crazy…had to return it

My skin isn’t sensitive. That being said, I only got to use this for two nights. My skin ended up having a reaction, and I have so many small little bumps all over my face. They almost look like they’re “under my skin”, and they aren’t super noticeable, but they do make my skin appear much more textured in sunlight. It’s also itchy, especially along my jaw.
It sucks that I’ve had this reaction, I have never really had any issues with any face products in general. I had to stop using this and will be returning it.
