This is an amazing product! This may be the best facial healer that I have ever tried and I’ve tried quite a few. This miraculous gel feels more soothing and gentle than Aloe and that’s saying plenty. It’s easy to get this product confused with Avene’s other Thermal Spring Water products, however this is not the same thing. This is a pure gel from Avene’s professional line (mainly sold to salons or dermatologists, though I managed to finally track it down at Dermstore.Com). I know that many French dermatologists use this after certain procedures for it’s sterility and intense soothing capability. I found that it’s used mostly after Microdermabrasion, Laser Hair Removal and certain surgical procedures of the skin. I noticed some indicating that they use it for severe Rosacea or allergic reactions to the face. The thing that put me off from trying this sooner was the concept and the price. You only get three small tubes for $22.00 and each tube can only be used once which doesn’t make it very cost efficient! I did some research and found people stating that they were treated with this at their doctors office and that it healed the nastiest of conditions and soothed their skin like nothing they had ever tried before.
Because I was so thoroughly impressed by Avene’s Thermal Spring water as well as their Thermal Spring Water Serum, I decided that I just had to try this one. I have extremely sensitive skin that is often red, tight and irritated. I also get laser hair removal done on my face and was looking for something that could really calm things down after those treatments (not even Aloe totally calms that down). Well I opened up one of the three tubes you get with this and smoothed some of it over my red and irritated skin and OMG this felt like cool water on a fire (this is how Aloe should feel)! I have a friend out here who said that she put this on after suffering a terrible sunburn (and after trying numerous applications of Aloe). She said that this was the only thing that actually settled her skin and took the burn out. After trying the product for myself, I believe her!
I was stunned by how good this felt going on as almost everything stings to some degree due to my highly sensitive skin. This was pure bliss on my face! No wonder it’s used after so many dermatological procedures in France. It truly heals and soothes like nothing I could have even imagined! My face was bright red before putting this on and suddenly within about 15 minutes, my face was pale and soft looking and completely calm again! I felt like a fire had been put out on my face! I had a little rash on my chest and put some of this healing gel over that too and it’s already clearing up! If you buy this, you’ll have to look at it like one of those “In case of emergency break glass” type products.
The tubes are actually not particularly tiny or anything and could last 4 or 5 days, however the ingredients degrade quickly so you are supposed to toss it within 24-48 hours. I noticed some indicating that they store this in the refrigerator after a tube is opened and it can last about 48 hours, but still, that’s such a shame that you can’t get all the usage out of the tube. I am going to stock up and buy more because I want to have these on hand. I do think they are worth every penny, but again I wish the tubes would last longer. Whatever they put in this must be incredibly delicate to degrade so quickly, however I can tell you that it will heal your skin like nothing else. Quite impressed!!!
Editing to say that this will last longer than the 24 hours stated on the tube. I have had my tube in the fridge for three days and it’s still perfectly fine and feels amazing on my skin (smells as fresh as the day I opened it…no odd smell or anything). By the way this is wonderfully unscented, so you smell nothing which is complete bliss for my skin and my sensitive nose! I have to say that this blows anything else that I have ever tried out of the water as far as healing goes. I don’t know how it works, I only know that it works when nothing else will.
